Think of it as Adventure Time's greatest hits reimagined for a new generation. The show leans into the early-season energy that fans fell in love with: self-contained quests, visual gags, and that distinct blend of whimsy and surprisingly emotional storytelling that always lurked beneath the surface.

The Voice Cast

Sasha Knight steps into the role of Finn, replacing Jeremy Shada from the original series. The rest of the lineup should feel familiar: John DiMaggio returns as Jake, Tom Kenny is back as the Ice King, Hynden Walch voices Princess Bubblegum, Olivia Olson reprises Marceline, and Niki Yang is BMO again. That cast continuity matters — it anchors the new show in the same universe fans remember, even with a new Finn.

Where It Fits in the Adventure Time Universe

The franchise has grown considerably since the original series ended in 2018. Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake brought a more mature, serialized story to Max in 2023 and earned an 8.6 rating. Distant Lands preceded that with four standalone TV movies. Side Quests sits somewhere between those approaches — it's more episodic than Fionna and Cake but still carries the production polish of a modern streaming series.

If you've never watched any Adventure Time before, Side Quests is actually a decent entry point. The self-contained episode structure means you don't need deep lore knowledge to enjoy each quest. But if you want the full picture, the original Adventure Time series (10 seasons, 2010–2018) is where the magic started.
