July kicks off with a bang. Netflix drops a franchise finale, Disney+ revives a fan-favorite animated series, and Hulu opens the vault on one of the biggest movie franchises of the 2000s. If you were waiting for a reason to stay inside, today is it.
Enola Holmes 3 (Netflix)
Millie Bobby Brown returns for the third and final chapter of the Enola Holmes series. This time, Enola heads to Malta for her wedding — but the ceremony gets derailed by a kidnapping plot that pulls her back into detective work. Henry Cavill returns as Sherlock, and the film promises the same blend of witty fourth-wall breaks and Victorian-era adventure that made the first two entries such crowd-pleasers.
The previous two films both landed in Netflix's all-time top 10 for original movies, so expectations are high. If the franchise's track record holds, this is the streaming event of the week.
X-Men '97 Season 2 (Disney+)
Marvel's surprise hit animated series returns with a second season. The first season of X-Men '97 earned near-universal praise for its bold storytelling and faithful continuation of the 1990s animated series — pulling a 99% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes. Season 2 picks up from the season 1 cliffhanger, with the team scattered across time and new threats emerging.
All episodes drop at once, making this a perfect binge for Marvel fans who grew up with the original Saturday morning cartoons.
Also New Today
Hulu goes big with a massive library refresh. The entire Twilight saga — all five films — lands on the platform, alongside superhero staples like Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Jessica Jones Season 1. If you are in the mood for something heavier, Hulu also adds Interstellar, The Wolf of Wall Street, and James Cameron's Titanic.
Netflix matches the energy with its own deep catalog additions. Spider-Man: Homecoming swings onto the platform ahead of Brand New Day hitting theaters later this month. Awards-season heavyweights Nomadland and Fargo join the lineup alongside cult favorites like Gone Girl and A24's The Witch. All four seasons of Heroes also arrive for anyone craving a superpowered nostalgia trip.
Over on Prime Video, the thriller Elle makes its streaming debut, while Paramount+ loads up on family-friendly fare with Clifford the Big Red Dog, Garfield and Friends, and the Expendables quadrilogy.
What to Watch First
Start with Enola Holmes 3. It is a Netflix original premier, which means it will dominate the conversation for the next few days — you will want to see it before the spoilers flood social media. After that, queue up X-Men '97 Season 2 for a weekend binge, and keep Spider-Man: Homecoming on deck as a palette cleanser. What are you watching first today?
