New Today: Love Is Blind UK, Ocean's Eight & More — July 12

Netflix

Sunday is here, and while today's streaming calendar is on the lighter side, there's still plenty to dig into — from a reality TV double-header on Peacock to a beloved heist film landing on HBO Max. Here's what's new today, July 12.

Headliner: Love Is Blind: UK — After the Altar (Netflix)

Netflix drops the Love Is Blind: UK reunion follow-up today, catching up with the couples and singles from Season 2 roughly a year after their weddings. The three-episode special checks in on the couples who said "I do" — and those who didn't — while bringing back some familiar faces from Season 1 for added perspective. If you've been following the UK version of the franchise, this is the natural next stop. Production company CPL Productions keeps the same warm-but-dramatic format that made the original After the Altar specials a staple for reality fans.

Also New Today

Ocean's Eight (HBO Max)

Gary Ross's all-star heist comedy lands on HBO Max as a library addition. Sandra Bullock leads an impeccable ensemble — Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter — in a stylish Met Gala heist that holds a 69% Tomatometer. It's a slick, rewatchable crowd-pleaser that pairs well with a lazy Sunday evening.

Susana and Elvira: No Plan B (Netflix)

This Colombian romantic comedy follows two estranged best friends who reunite after a fallout abroad to plan a high-profile wedding for the hottest artists in town — with no backup plan. It's a warm, culture-rich comedy about friendship, second chances, and the chaos of wedding planning that should appeal to fans of destination wedding rom-coms.

Iyanu: The War of Twin Princes — Season 2B (HBO Max)

The acclaimed Nigerian-inspired animated series returns with a season-concluding movie. Iyanu, set in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland, follows a teenage orphan uncovering her destiny as a heroine. This finale film — The War of Twin Princes — centers on King Oba Adedeji choosing an heir between his twin sons, with the fate of the kingdom at stake. The series has drawn comparisons to Avatar: The Last Airbender for its rich world-building and emotional storytelling.

Though I Am an Inept Villainess (Hulu)

Anime fans get a new premiere today. Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court — produced by Doga Kobo (Oshi no Ko) — follows a body-swap plot where a scorned maiden and a beloved court favorite must navigate palace intrigue after a forbidden magic spell goes wrong. Directed by Mitsue Yamazaki, it's a promising addition to the villainess anime subgenre.

Tonight on Peacock

Peacock has a big reality night with two major events. Love Island USA Season 8 crowns its winning couple in the finale at 9 PM ET, with Ariana Madix revealing America's vote and the $100,000 prize. Meanwhile, Married at First Sight Season 20 premieres with a milestone season set in Seattle, introducing new experts Paul C. Brunson and Dr. Lisa Paz, and seven couples marrying at first sight. Both shows are exclusive to Peacock.

Coming This Week

Monday brings a strong Netflix slate: the documentary Jim Thorpe: Lit by Lightning explores the Native American athlete's extraordinary life; Mile End Kicks follows a young music critic writing about Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill in Montreal; and Golden Kamuy — The Abashiri Prison Raid continues the acclaimed Ainu gold-rush anime saga. HBO Max adds the GameStop stock phenomenon dramedy Dumb Money on Monday as well.
