Atıf Kaptan (21 May 1908 – 22 April 1977) was a Turkish film and theater actor. He began his artistic career in 1928 with the play “Hamlet” at Dar-ül bedayi. That same year, he also took his first steps into cinema acting. He gained widespread acclaim for his role as “Yahya Kaptan” in the first Turkish sound film, “Bir Millet Uyanıyor” (A Nation Awakens). He founded a troupe called “Kaptan Tiyatrosu” (Captain's Theater) and toured throughout Anatolia. After leaving theater to focus on cinema, the artist starred in over 300 films.
