Sarra Ryma is a French-Algerian filmmaker, screenwriter based in Paris. Her work explores themes of exile, identity, desire and belonging through visually driven narratives. Her short film À quoi rêvent les maknines premiered in competition at the Critics' Week of the Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Rail d'Or and the Valbonne Audience Award. She is currently developing her first feature film, Les Vapeurs d'Alger, which was selected for Focus COPRO' in Cannes and the Women Writing Lab at HFF Munich.
