Ingela Johansson

Ingela Johansson is a writer and artist based in Stockholm. Mainly working with video, installation, narrative film, textile and text, Johansson’s practice engage in topics such as social history and memory – she is known for her work around individual and collective experiences of history writing: poetics of solidarity, microhistories and archives on the labor organization. More recently she has taken an interest in the practices of care, mourning and healing, herstories, storytelling that is intersecting eco-feminism and cosmologies. In 2010 she was the Iaspis artist-in-residence at Gasworks and Acme in London and 2020 she was awarded The Visual Arts Fund’s 5 years working grant from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee. She is represented by Kin Center for Contemporary, Adde Zetterquist Gallery, Moderna Museet, Södertälje Konsthall, Hallands Art Museum, Filmform and Iaspis. In 2013 she published the book: The art of the strike, voices on cultural and political work during and after the mining strike 1969-70 (eds. Martin Högström, Kim Einarsson) at Glänta.
