Born: May 19, 1958 in København, Danmark
Jørgen Klubien is a Danish animator, storyboard artist, screenwriter, and occasional director whose fingerprints are all over modern animation history. A veteran of Disney and Pixar, Klubien began his career animating on The Fox and the Hound, Oliver & Company, and The Little Mermaid, before moving into story work where he helped shape classics like The Lion King, Pocahontas, A Bug’s Life, Mulan, Toy Story 2, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He’s best known as the original creator and co-writer of Cars (2006), bringing his personal story concept to Pixar, where it became one of the studio’s biggest franchises. His later work includes storyboarding on Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie and Disney’s Dumbo (2019), and continued contributions to major animation studios across feature and short-form projects. Also a musician, he’s the longtime frontman of Danish pop band Danseorkestret and a solo recording artist.
