Starting in seventh grade, artist David La Chapelle was so bullied for being gay that he dropped out of school by ninth grade. He moved to New York City, where being gay was accepted. David La Chapelle is an auteur photographer whose work has exhibited in galleries around the world and graced the pages of Vogue, Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone.
