While visiting her friend, Barbara Carlton, Frances Mildmay spends the day fox-hunting and ends up fogbound in the 'Devil's Maze' with Barbara's husband, James. When the pair lodge overnight at an inn, the innkeeper convinces James to seduce Frances.
