After a decade of honing his visual techniques with still photography, Fulton began experimenting with filmmaking using a 16mm Bolex camera. In developing a visual style which would become the bedrock of his work for decades to come, Fulton focused on one, two, and three minute explorations in twisting camera motions, multiple exposures, and capturing shots in quick bursts or in single frame increments, temporally challenging viewers in the process.
