Ali Akilah is 96 years old and lives in Amman, in Jordan. He was born and grew up in Lifta, a Palestinian village in west Jerusalem. Having trained as a gynaecologist in Beirut, he subsequently practised this branch of medicine for many years in Haifa. His life changed fundamentally with the founding of the state of Israel.
