Episode 1 was the first of fifteen episodes which covered Season 1.0 of Comedy Central BattleBots. It was the also the first fully-produced BattleBots episode for free-to-air television, with both previous 1999 events in Long Beach and Las Vegas being pay-per-view. This episode contained just two fights - both in the lightweight division. Brand new builds Backlash and Disposable Hero took to the BattleBox before the ladybug-themed Tentoumushi led by Lisa Winter faced off against Dallas Goecker's Sallad. The episode premiered on August 23, 2000 and served as the show's pilot to Comedy Central.

Again covering battles from three different divisions, this episode saw the return of Backlash following its destructive Round of 32 win over Disposable Hero as it took on Tom Petruccelli's The Crusher.
