A new life in the sun in Perth, Western Australia, is appealing to the Mustafa family from Surrey, except for teenager Chanelle, who does not want to go. The family tries out the lifestyle down under for one week before deciding whether to emigrate or not.

They are amazed at the stylish dream homes they could afford in Art Deco Napier, but as Helen tries teaching Maori children and the boys attempt rugby and the Hakka, they find the local culture hard to embrace, and even dad Jamie has his doubts.

Michaela Revell from Middlesex has persuaded husband Wes to give her dream of living in Australia a week's trial. She hopes that life in Perth could provide a better future for their two daughters.

With property prices and the cost of living higher than she expected, the reality of making ends meet on her nurse's salary might give her second thoughts.

When Bob and Sonia Greaves put the Australian beach lifestyle to the test in tropical Cairns, reality does not live up to expectations. While naturopath Sonia is drawn to a new life abroad, retired husband Bob will need persuading.

The Hannah family from Nottinghamshire think a fresh start in New Zealand could answer their problems. Joe believes work would be less stressful and he'd have more time with his family. Wife Emma hopes for a spacious rural property to bring up their children. But the houses disappoint and Emily doesn't want to leave her school, so important decisions have to be made.
