It is a plot that Miss Mallard and Willard soon put an end to when the rickshaw accident turns out to be no accident at all.

It soon becomes clear to Miss Mallard that she and Willard are working on the same case, and thanks to both their sleuthing, the International theft ring is brought to justice.

They soon learn the painting was not stolen because of its value, but because it reveals the location of a notorious gang's hideout. The gang is arrested, but the leader and the actual painting remain missing until Miss Mallard and Willard reveal the true identity of the art thief.
