The scenic and sleepy town of Tichý Brod is shaken by the death of 11-year-old Daniel. Major Adam Hanzel, a distant stranger, and Elena Mikušová, a warm-hearted local captain, take over the investigation. Although their cooperation is extremely difficult for both of them, they quickly discover that the boy died a violent death and the investigation casts a shadow of suspicion over many of the town's inhabitants.
