LIK-AH and SZ-FU meet TSOK-MAN and LING-LEI in the restaurant. LIK-AH is pleased that LING-LEI has a pursuer. SUM-SUM learns that LI-KIN has pressed the alarm of Lifeline for LI-KIN has collapsed after inhaling some smokes from the neighborhood. KA-FU asks PAU-SING to investigate that neighborhood together and they discover a private nunnery with many urns. They discover that CHIU-LUNG is a cruel person with a kind mask. CHIU-LUNG learns that KA-FU and the others are persuading LI-KIN to be the witness. Episode 1
Barrister LAW LIK-AH was put in jail for obstruction of justice. On his day of release, his good friends TING KA-FU and GEORGE MIKE JR. wait for him outside the prison but they cannot see him after a long time. LIK-AH’s girlfriend WONG SZ-FU is not able to pick him up for she needs to fight for the poor in the court. SZ-FU rushes to LIK-AH’s home after work and they kiss each other passionately in front of everybody. LIK-AH carries SZ-FU to his room but they discover LEUNG PAU-SING sleeping inside. SZ-FU and Auntie KING find a group of neighbors queuing up for Uncle YEUNG’s egg puffs on the street. SZ-FU asks everybody to look for her if they have any legal problems. In order to help Uncle KOO, LIK-AH returns to the High Court again and other barristers humiliate him. CHIN-SHEUNG invites CHUN-NEI to be his defense counsel and CHUN-NEI predominates over SZ-FU with her eloquent speech. CHUN-NEI even requests SZ-FU’s side to make compensation to CHIN-SHEUNG for he has become impotent after the injury. LIK-AH forgets that he is no longer a barrister and he tries to speak for Uncle KOO but the judge warns him to stop angrily. LIK-AH is very upset and he decides to resume his license. CHIN-SHEUNG cries in the court while telling everybody that his wife wants to divorce him because of his impotency. LIK-AH and KA-FU follow him secretly. They discover CHIN-SHEUNG chatting up an attractive masseuse SUM-SUM on the street. LIK-AH tries to check out the background of SUM-SUM from FUNG and the other prostitutes for he wants SUM-SUM to help proving that CHIN-SHEUNG was telling lies. GEORGE will become a Deputy Judge soon and he tidies up his clothes in his room. LIK-AH and the others play tricks on him. While working as a Deputy Judge, GEORGE meets CHUN-NEI and he is scared away by her imposing manner. LING-LEI and SZ-FU chats in the sidewalk snack booth and the girl SIU-LAI suddenly collapses in front of them. SZ-FU and LING-LEI accompany SIU-LAI home. After a shower, SIU-LAI suddenly vomits and she is sent to the hospital. The doctor says that SIU-LAI is suffering from acute liver failure and SIU-LAI’s mother LAN is very worried. Based on the laboratory report, the cause of SIU-LAI’s illness is the cold medicines that she has been taking because it contains large amounts of mildew. LIK-AH says that they should ask for compensation from the drug factory. CEO of the drug factory CHING-HUNG visits SIU-LAI secretly. When he returns to his car, he stops his wife from giving the drug factory’s medicine to his son……

SZ-FU and LIK-AH quarrel with each other on the case. LING-LEI consoles her and she reveals that she is not living with her husband. The drug factory refuses to increase the compensation to SIU-LAI and LIK-AH finally agrees with SZ-FU to put the case to the court. The drug factory appoints the famous barrister SHING-WONG to be their defense counsel. SHING-WONG hates LIK-AH very much but LIK-AH doesn’t really care. SHING-WONG discovers that his daughter LING-LEI is opening a medical clinic in Sham Shui Po and he goes to visit her angrily. LIK-AH and SZ-FU act intimately on the street. LING-LEI witnesses the scene accidentally and she is devastated. She drives madly and is injured in a car accident. SHING-WONG rushes to the hospital and he requests LIK-AH to talk with him outside the hospital. SHING-WONG reveals all the hardships that LING-LEI has encountered in the past to LIK-AH.

Ten years ago, LIK-AH was fighting against SHING-WONG in a lawsuit. SHING-WONG lured LIK-AH to standby his side with benefits but LIK-AH rejected him. LING-LEI admired LIK-AH's character and they soon became lovers. LIK-AH finally realizes all the hardships that LING-LEI had gone through and he apologizes to her in the hospital. LIK-AH reveals that he now loves SZ-FU and LING-LEI decides to let go. Before the hearing, LIK-AH and SZ-FU discover that CHING-HUNG and his wife have become the witnesses of SHING-WONG's side. SZ-FU performs brilliantly during the hearing and CHING-HUNG finally discloses the truth to everybody. The drug factory loses the lawsuit and will make compensation to all the victims. While KA-FU is helping the victims, BOR-HIM tries to date SZ-FU and LIK-AH overhears the conversation. LIK-AH immediately reveals to everybody that he is SZ-FU's boyfriend.

PAU-SING deliberately dresses up to date KO-NGA but they end up having street snacks together with GEORGE in Sham Shui Po. LING-LEI moves to her new home eventually. She is very sad to find LIK-AH and SZ-FU acting intimately in front of everybody but she pretends to be happy. In the early morning, LING-LEI tries to fix the antenna at the rooftop and she falls down accidentally. LIK-AH and the others try very hard to rescue her. CHUN-NEI discovers that her husband SHAN is committing adultery. She wants a divorce and she asks SZ-FU to be her lawyer for the lawsuit. KA-FU discovers that SUM-SUM is very greedy and he believes that she is providing special services to her clients in order to earn more. KA-FU discovers that SUM-SUM is discussing about venereal disease with the prostitute FUNG. Shop King CHEUNG invites SUM-SUM for tea and SUM-SUM asks him to go to her home eagerly...

Shop King CHEUNG complains to the police that SUM-SUM has attacked him. KA-FU becomes the witness of the case and PAU-SING believes that SUM-SUM is providing sexual services at her home based on KA-FU's statement. SUM-SUM is very angry about it and she blames PAU-SING and KA-FU for discriminating her. KA-FU finally decides not to sign his statement temporarily. SHAN meets CHUN-NEI with LIK-AH. He reveals that he is suffering from leukemia and CHUN-NEI is both shocked and heart-broken. SHAN wants to use their son's umbilical cord blood to cure his disease but CHUN-NEI rejects him. Failing to mediate between CHUN-NEI and SHAN, SZ-FU and LIK-AH have to fight against each other on court. KA-FU discovers that FUNG is now doing foot massage instead of prostitution and he learns from FUNG that he has misunderstood SUM-SUM. In order to settle the case of Shop King CHEUNG and SUM-SUM, LIK-AH visits Shop King CHEUNG in the pub. LIK-AH and the other capture Shop King CHEUNG to their Civil Legal Center to question him. They also suggest SUM-SUM to punish him for his misbehavior. LIK-AH learns that CHUN-NEI has got her difficulties and he meets up with SHAN to give him some fake information. LING-LEI reveals to the clinic nurse BEAUTY that she still loves with LIK-AH and BEAUTY encourages her to fight for it. Widely regarded as "Prince of Heart Protective Oil", rich second generation WONG TSOK-MAN visits LING-LEI at her clinic with flowers and fruit basket. Some corrosive liquids are thrown down outside the clinic. LING-LEI helps the patients selflessly and TSOK-MAN admires her kind-heartedness very much. GEORGE is very stressed about WILLIAM’s case. KO-NGA tries to encourage him and he finds her suggestions very useful. SUM-SUM’s ex-colleague WING calls her for help and SUM-SUM rescues her from danger. WING reveals to SUM-SUM that the drug dealer forces her to help smuggling drugs for she is pregnant. SZ-FU’s younger brother SZ-YUEN discovers SUM-SUM and WING on the street. He wants to visit WING but SUM-SUM says that she did not see her. The drug dealer forces WING to swallow a few packs of drugs and KA-FU immediately brings her to LING-LEI’s clinic. PAU-SING learns that somebody has smuggled drugs and he rushes to the clinic as well. KA-FU tells SZ-FU and the others about WING’s case. SZ-YUEN recalls the memory of separating with WING reluctantly in the past. SZ-FU becomes WING’s defense counsel and she persuades her to surrender herself to the police.

In order to gather more evidence to support WING, SZ-FU takes risk to accompany WING to meet up with her boyfriend WAI. LIK-AH learns that SZ-FU is injured and he scolds her angrily. SZ-FU discovers that LIK-AH really cares about her and she feels sweet. While speaking for WING in the court, the prosecutor reveals that WING was involved in drug smuggling before. SZ-FU realizes that WING hasn’t told her everything and she believes that she will lose the lawsuit. LIK-AH helps to solve LING-LEI’s problem and they go to drink beer together. LING-LEI is drunk and she kisses LIK-AH. SZ-FU witnesses the scene accidentally. LIK-AH asks KA-FU and the others to help explaining the case to SZ-FU. LIK-AH and SUM-SUM go to the detention center to visit WING. SUM-SUM believes that WING wants to repent and start anew so she asks WING’s mother to visit her. SUM-SUM and KA-FU successfully encourage WING’s parents to visit her. Afterwards, they met each other accidentally in the restaurant. After drinking, KA-FU starts to feel that SUM-SUM and CHING-CHING are quite alike. SZ-FU and LIK-AH go to the detention center to visit WAI. They persuade WAI to become a tainted witness. However, when WAI discovers that the gang leader is present at the hearing, he is scared away and refuses to help. WING is tired of everything and she decides to end it all by admitting her guilt. LIK-AH and the others respect her decision but SZ-FU is very upset and she doesn’t want to be WING’s lawyer anymore. Everybody believes that WING will lose the lawsuit but PAU-SING suddenly has a good news. PAU-SING and GEORGE try to please KO-NGA in every ways. KO-NGA hurts her ankle accidentally and PAU-SING immediately requests to carry her on his back……

KA-FU and SUM-SUM finally find LI-KIN but LI-KIN is too scared to be the witness anymore. LIK-AH and KA-FU try to follow CHI-TSIN with eavesdropping device. They discover that CHI-TSIN is asking the private detectives to find his girlfriend KAM and they follow him all the way to KAM’s home. LIK-AH discusses his findings with SZ-FU and he believes that CHIU-LUNG is manipulating his son. LIK-AH reveals CHIU-LUNG’s cruel behaviors to CHI-TSIN and he hopes that CHI-TSIN will stop following his father all the time. LIK-AH invites CHI-TSIN for a bet. If CHI-TSIN could stay in SUM-SUM’s home for 3 days, he will stop making complaints to the nunnery. Even though it is really hard, CHI-TSIN successfully stays for a day and SZ-FU worries that he will win but LIK-AH is very confident about his plan. YIN-SAU is accused for getting Comprehensive Social Security Assistance by cheating and KO-NGA becomes her defense counsel. GEORGE is the judge of the case and he visits YIN-SAU to learn more about her situation. GEORGE overcomes his psychological constraints and gives a fair judgment without any bias. He is overjoyed and he hugs KO-NGA happily. WING-KEUNG complains that PAU-SING has bitten him. PAU-SING discusses the case with FAI during breakfast and WING-KEUNG overhears it. GEORGE discovers that PAU-SING has stolen his thank you card to please KO-NGA and he starts a quarrel with him angrily. FAI discovers a dying drug addict at the staircases of an old building. He believes that WING-KEUNG is involved in the case so he chases him and PAU-SING follows them. FAI and WING-KEUNG fight with each other at the hillside. In order to save FAI, PAU-SING shots WING-KEUNG with his gun……

PAU-SING reveals the truth about WING-KEUNG’s death to SZ-FU and LIK-AH. Both of them are shocked to learn that the tree’s branch has killed WING-KEUNG. LIK-AH believes in PAU-SING and he continues to be his lawyer. On the other hand, SZ-FU wants to fight for WING-KEUNG and she forces the police to provide PAU-SING and FAI’s case report in the court. All the neighbors feel sorry for HAN and they isolate LIK-AH. LING-LEI supports LIK-AH wholeheartedly and she kisses him again. SZ-FU witnesses the scene accidentally. SZ-FU wants to separate with LIK-AH until LIK-AH has a clear conclusion on his relationship with LING-LEI. TSOK-MAN invites LING-LEI and SHING-WONG for dinner. TSOK-MAN expressed to SHING-WONG that he wants to develop a relationship with LING-LEI and SHING-WONG supports him. LIK-AH learns that LING-LEI tries to keep a distance from TSOK-MAN and he worries that LING-LEI will declare her love to him.

After thinking through the case, LIK-AH still cannot figure out why HO WING-KEUNG wants to kill FAI. KO-NGA recalls that WING-KEUNG had taken her into the alley by force and she describes the scene in details to LIK-AH. LIK-AH believes that PAU-SING didn’t tell everybody that FAI has bitten WING-KEUNG for he wants to protect his friend. PAU-SING goes out with his beloved dog ROCKY but ROCKY is missing accidentally. GEORGE helps him to find ROCKY and they reconcile with each other. LIK-AH has got all he needs except the tree’s branch that FAI used to attack WING-KEUNG. He asks ROCKY to help finding it at the hillside. PAU-SING is released eventually. KA-FU and GEORGE are dissatisfied that SZ-FU has attacked LIK-AH heartlessly during the hearing. They scold her and SZ-FU takes it all silently. BOR-HIM finds SZ-FU drinking alone in the pub……

After being challenged by LING-LEI in front of everybody, SZ-FU makes a cake for LIK-AH but she discovers that LIK-AH is sharing an egg tart with LING-LEI. On the other hand, LIK-AH goes to a flower shop to buy flowers for SZ-FU and GEORGE teaches him to read a love poem to her. HAN reveals to KA-FU tearfully that her husband is sentenced to death in China and she is not able to visit him in jail at all. KA-FU asks SZ-FU and the others for help. The Chief Executive’s assistant finally accepts KA-FU’s petition. After getting the approval letter, KA-FU, SUM-SUM and HAN go to the prison in China together. During the time, FOOK-YUEN suddenly calls KA-FU and tells him that WING-TSAU has been sent to a hospital because of heart disease. KA-FU rushes back immediately but he is shocked to learn from the doctor that WING-TSAU has died already. FOOK-YUEN is very angry for KA-FU didn’t show up on time and he doesn’t allow KA-FU to return home.

KA-FU is very ashamed after his mother’s death. He stays at CHING-CHING’s grave and drinks continuously. SUM-SUM cannot bear to scold KA-FU angrily and KA-FU bursts into tears. With the help of SUM-SUM, KA-FU finally reunites with FOOK-YUEN. SZ-FU is injured at home accidentally. LIK-AH believes that it is a small injury and he asks SZ-FU to handle it on her own. An old building is on fire because of short circuit. FUNG and WING’s mother FAN believe that this was done by the property owner Chiu Lung Group for they failed to acquire the ownership of the building from tenants successfully. WING’s baby is one month old and all neighbours go to her home to take pork knuckles and ginger stew for celebration. The building suddenly shakes and everybody run away nervously. FAN is trapped by a big cabinet and SUM-SUM finds FUNG falling with the sinking floor…

SZ-FU and LIK-AH witness the collapse of the old building. KA-FU and LIK-AH rush to rescue the people. With the help of firemen, SIU-KING and SUM-SUM come out eventually. Later, the firemen discover FAN and FUNG’s dead bodies and everybody are devastated. KA-FU accompanies SUM-SUM all the time after her injury and he finally admit that he loves SUM-SUM. SIU-KING becomes paralyzed after the injury. During the hearing at the Coroner's Court, LIK-AH and SZ-FU express that Chiu Lung Group should be responsible for the accident. However, the sub-contractor WING is telling lies in the court and CHIU-LUNG is released eventually. LIK-AH sends FUNG’s bone ash back to her home town and he tries to find WING’s whereabouts. LING-LEI overhears SHING-WONG and CHIU-LUNG’s conversation. She realizes that LIK-AH and WING are in danger. In order to rescue LIK-AH, LING-LEI is injured and she loses her consciousness.

SZ-FU and LIK-AH discover that SIU-KING is missing but they have no clue of her whereabouts. They suddenly discover SIU-KING gliding down a steep slope dangerously in her wheelchair. CHI-TSIN shows LIK-AH a video of CHIU-LUNG and YUNG’s conversation. He wants LIK-AH to persuade CHIU-LUNG to surrender himself to the police. LIK-AH decides to act as the bait but SZ-FU stops him by giving him sleeping pills. After watching the video, CHIU-LUNG is enraged and he threatens SZ-FU to reveal the whereabouts of CHI-TSIN by pressing her throat with force. LIK-AH arrives on time to rescue SZ-FU. When PAU-SING and the other police arrive, CHIU-LUNG has died already. LIK-AH has collapsed while SZ-FU is holding a golf club speechlessly. She admits that she has killed CHIU-LUNG in the chaos. LIK-AH becomes the witness of the case but he suddenly reveals to everybody in court that he is the murderer. Both SZ-FU and LIK-AH try to take the guilt……
