Expedition Canada The Big Country! Larger than life - that's the best way to describe the world's second biggest country. On Blue Peter's whistle-stop tour, Simon rode the range; Peter scaled the Athabasca Glacier - a moving sheet of ice taller than the Eiffel Tower; and high in the Rocky Mountains Sarah shot the white water rapids of the mighty Thompson River. The intrepid trio returned safe and sound with their traveller's tales, so don't miss today's first report. Expedition Canada: Firefighter Duncan! Beating just one forest fire in Canada takes a team of up to 360 men and women using helicopters, amphibious planes and giant caterpillar tractors for fire-engines. Peter had a narrow escape when he joined the crew trying to control a massive 160,000 acres of charred and blazing timber.

The Great Stink! In 1858 the stench from the River Thames was so disgusting that MPs had to abandon the Houses of Parliament. The result was a reconstruction of London's drains and sewers - many of which are still in use today. Simon goes underground to report.

Goldie's puppy. Prince, will be spending his first Christmas as a fully qualified guide dog for the blind. Peter meets Prince and his new owner to see how Prince is settling down to his life as a pair of eyes for the blind.

Today there's the latest news of the Treasure Hunt Appeal in aid of children and babies suffering from kidney failure. Your treasure can save lives, and the depot will be open over Christmas, except for Christmas Day, Christmas Sunday and Boxing Day.

During the past few days, the sorters have been working flat out to open the parcels of Treasure that arrived during the Christmas holidays. If the 500,000 mark lights up on the Totaliser, children and babies suffering from chronic and acute renal failure will be helped at hospitals all over the British Isles. Don t worry if your parcel has been delayed - the depot will stay open through January and February with Britain's ambulance men and women standing by to speed up deliveries!

'Lady Sarah Greene' Twenty-five years ago the Queen decreed the end of the Presentation Parties. For nearly 250 years young girls had worn the regulation uniform of long white dress, six-foot train, and three ostrich feathers as they were presented at court and curtsyed to the King and Queen. Sarah goes back in time to 1923 and becomes 'Lady Sarah Greene' as she relives some of the trials and tribulations of 'doing the season'.
