Episode 1

KING-CHANG goes to meet four shareholders in secret in hopes of helping Pedic Motors list its share on the stock exchange. Unexpectedly, a traffic accident involving the vehicle manufactured by Pedic Motors is reported in the news. Meanwhile, in front of the factory, a group of workers stage a sit-in strike against the automobile manufacturer. Their representative CHEUNG KEUNG appears and tells them to end the strike because he has reached an agreement with the employer that the workers are going to receive more compensation. After KAI-YIU discusses the issue with YAT-HONG, they suggest that KING-CHANG should suspend the listing proposal in order to reduce the possibility of failure. However, KING-CHANG refuses. KAI-YIU hopes that CHEUNG KEUNG could join his company. YI-CHUN goes to negotiate with CHEUNG KEUNG about the divorce settlement and partition of inheritance regarding their clients……

When CHEUNG KEUNG asks Mrs. LEE as to how much compensation she wants to claim, she decides that she will totally rely on CHEUNG KEUNG's opinion. CHEUNG KEUNG tells her that, though money can guarantee a better life, he wants to at least compel Pedic Motors to make a public apology. Responding to media inquiries as to whether the traffic accident will delay the company's listing plan, KING-CHANG states that everything is going according to plan. CHEUNG KEUNG knows that KING-CHANG is going to block all the news regarding the listing, so he is determined to make it publicly known. WAI-LEUNG gives KING-CHANG's new proposal to CHEUNG KEUNG, hoping that he will discuss the issue with Mrs. LEE. However, CHEUNG KEUNG immediately tears up the proposal after he reads it. CHEUNG KEUNG happens to see KING-CHANG in an elevator, during which they talk about the case in private……

YI-CHUN helps FONG NING prepare before the chambers hearing regarding the automobile manufacturer case. FONG NING used to be CHEUNG KEUNG's pupil but CHEUNG KEUNG did not let her graduate even though there was only one month left at that time. On the other hand, CHEUNG KEUNG reassures Mrs. LEE that he will try his best to stop the autopsy of the deceased. When WAI-LEUNG proposes that they can increase the amount of compensation as long as the automobile manufacturer does not have to make a public apology, surprisingly, CHEUNG KEUNG claims that their bottom line is that the manufacturer issues a public apology. KAI-YIU calls a shareholders' meeting, seeking to pressure KING-CHANG to cancel the listing plan. However, KING-CHANG replies that he has already contacted several international banks for the launch of the initial public offering of the automobile manufacturer……

At the board meeting, KAI-YIU announces that he will invite CHEUNG KEUNG to join the law firm. With CHEUNG KEUNG joining, KING-CHANG who is in a higher position instructs his subordinates to let CHEUNG KEUNG deal with all the difficult cases. YI-CHUN receives a case involving internet luring and sexual assault, and the female victim wants to file a civil lawsuit for damages. She then asks who took the video, SZE-WAI replies it's someone from the Yat Shing Group, one of the major corporate clients of the law firm. CHEUNG KEUNG informs SIU-WAH and LIK-HANG that he is going to work for the law firm effective the next day, and they look very wary about the decision. After CHEUNG KEUNG officially joins the law firm, his first client is Mr. HO from Yat Shing. Meanwhile, YI-CHUN is ready to file a lawsuit against Yat Shing's young master, so HEI-MAN warns her about a potential conflict of interest as CHEUNG KEUNG is representing Yat Shing……

YAT-HONG leads police officers to KAI-YIU's office, searching for the documents; whereas YI-CHUN uses her share in the company in exchange for CHEUNG KEUNG's help. During the search, the police officers notice that the document with information related to Tin Kwan Group has gone missing. HONG-YEE claims that KAI-YIU told her to destroy the document earlier. With the police investigating KAI-YIU, CHEUNG KEUNG becomes his defense lawyer. Eventually, the police get hold of the evidence, which is reassembled from the shredded document. KAI-YIU argues that the document is illegally obtained and cannot be admitted in court as evidence. He then goes to meet up with CHEUNG KEUNG, telling him that he is going to admit all the charges because he does not want to get engaged in the lawsuit. Meanwhile, KING-CHANG meets all the board members and urges them to take his side as KAI-YIU is turning into a liability for the law firm……

YI-CHUN becomes the new chairman of the law firm, attracting large interest and media coverage. When WAI-LEUNG complains that he has too many cases on hand, FONG NING actively tries to help share his workload. However, KING-CHANG won't let her and just tells her to have some rest. CHEUNG KEUNG wants to hand over the Central assault case to YI-CHUN, but KING-CHANG disagrees. Eventually, YI-CHUN takes over the assault case but she lacks self-confidence. In view of this, CHEUNG KEUNG frankly tells her that he does not expect her to earn money for the company, instead he wants to give her an opportunity to make a name for herself. YAT-HONG states that he is going to let KING-CHANG be in charge of everything, and he himself is not going to interfere. WAI-LEUNG and FONG NING go to meet up their client Ms CHAN, who wants to terminate her contract with an entertainment company……

SIU-WAH cannot find any video showing outside of the bar, but in the meeting, CHEUNG KEUNG claims that they have found the video. After learning the truth, SIU-WAH and YI-CHUN start blaming CHEUNG KEUNG about it. KING-CHANG watches the video that FONG NING took for a female star, and he knows it's fake because he just had a dinner with the senior executive of the entertainment company earlier. FONG NING asks WAI-LEUNG in private about the relationship between KING-CHANG and the entertainment company, so WAI-LEUNG reveals the truth to her. WAI-LEUNG gives KING-CHANG the photos he took of WING-LAM; whereas KING-CHANG flies into a rage after hearing the report. CHEUNG KEUNG requests YI-CHING to call AUYEUNG WAI out to meet him, but is rejected. CHEUNG KEUNG emphasizes that he has a way to make him tell the truth as long as he is able to meet him, adding that YI-CHUN has to win her first case……

All the trainees are going to take the exam. Seeing LIK-HANG is very nervous, HEI-MAN immediately goes to comfort him. CHEUNG KEUNG and SZE-WAI go to visit Uncle CHEUNG, who wants to kill himself. While trying to persuade him not to do so, CHEUNG KEUNG even promises to be his lawyer. Suddenly, KING-CHANG wants LIK-HANG to work as WAI-LEUNG's assistant, and he does not know how to react. On the other hand, KING-CHANG tells CHEUNG KEUNG to stop representing Uncle CHEUNG because the case stems from a company named Yuen Fong Development, which is actually one of their big clients. CHEUNG KEUNG asks FONG NING for her opinion regarding Uncle CHEUNG's case, so FONG NING replies that they have to make the judge agree with their side of story if they want to get a probation order for him. FONG NING comes up with a narrative that she did specifically for Uncle CHEUNG……

YUEN-HANG suddenly comes to see CHEUNG KEUNG in an attempt to induce him to stop representing Uncle CHEUNG in the lawsuit. KING-CHANG sees that someone is spreading a rumor about Uncle CHEUNG on the internet, so he asks FONG NING whether CHEUNG KEUNG is the mastermind behind this, above which he even urges FONG NING to report CHEUNG KEUNG's every single move to him from then on. YI-CHUN discusses with HO-TIN about a case involving a dog, and she hopes that HO-TIN can convince its master to settle the matter out of court as soon as possible. Three major clients stop dealing with the law firm, making KING-CHANG so angry that he calls an urgent meeting with YI-CHUN. At the meeting, YI-CHUN also hopes that CHEUNG KEUNG can step down from the lawsuit. Having heard this, CHEUNG KEUNG is boiling with anger, claiming that he is going to resign once the case involving Uncle CHEUNG is closed……

The Secretary of Justice decides to withdraw the charge regarding the assault case. After watching the news, KING-CHANG calls a meeting with YI-CHUN and CHEUNG KEUNG. When CHEUNG KEUNG pays alimony to SZE-WAI, SZE-WAI tells him that she plans to get married again, and CHEUNG KEUNG's face suddenly darkens. YAT-HONG pays a visit to KAI-YIU and points out to him that YI-CHUN cannot outwit KING-CHANG. KAI-YIU asks for YAT-HONG's opinion, YAT-HONG frankly tells him that he wants his share of the law firm. At the meeting, KING-CHANG requests CHEUNG KEUNG to leave the firm as he promised earlier. Meanwhile, YUEN-HANG urgently requires KING-CHANG to meet him as he screwed things up. YUEN-HANG's subordinate intends to send the woman who is having trouble breathing to the hospital, but is stopped by YUEN-HANG, following which they even run into an accident……

YUEN-HANG tells CHEUNG KEUNG what happened the other night, but CHEUNG KEUNG knows that he did not reveal the whole truth. While YUEN-HANG wants to shift all the blame on CHI-LOK, CHEUNG KEUNG points out that CHI-LOK probably won't listen to him. WING-LAM informs KING-CHANG that the listing application by the entertainment company has been approved. KING-CHANG is very happy and he even tells WAI-LEUNG to inform them immediately. After learning that CHI-LOK was arrested by the police, YUEN-HANG is very nervous, so CHEUNG KEUNG urges him to go back to the police station and give another statement. KA-TUNG and YI-CHUN pay a visit to CHI-LOK, during which YI-CHUN wants CHI-LOK to reveal the whole truth, yet KA-TUNG advises him to remain silent……

CHEUNG KEUNG does not want to be YUEN-HANG's lawyer anymore, yet he still wants that $5 million, which makes YUEN-HANG feel unacceptable. YI-CHUN and the others are troubled by the matter regarding CHI-LOK. Due to the fact that YUEN-HANG refuses to pay the attorney fees for CHI-LOK anymore, CHI-LOK has to seek legal aid. KING-CHANG receives an email from someone called TONY, and in the email, there is a balance sheet of the entertainment company with fabricated data. YAT-HONG meets up with other board members in secret, seeking to vote KING-CHANG out of the board of directors. WING-LAM suspects that TONY should be one of the senior members of the SFC's management. According to her, WAI-LEUNG will take full responsibility and plead guilty in KING-CHANG's stead if the fake balance sheet ends up in the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). Flying into a rage, WAI-LEUNG denies everything……

With SUET-YEE's video going viral online, people are asking YUEN-HANG questions about it wherever he goes. KING-CHANG wants to see YI-CHUN and asks whether it's her who released the video, adding that he has reached an agreement with CHI-LOK. According to him, the law firm has officially dropped YUEN-HANG's case. He reminds YI-CHUN not to get involved with this anymore. CHEUNG KEUNG is driving SIU-WAH and LIK-HANG back home, during which he surprisingly sees HO-TIN and SZE-WAI together, so he cannot help feeling very uncomfortable. When YI-CHUN visits KAI-YIU, she frankly admits that she does not want to be the chairman anymore, which makes KAI-YIU so angry that he wants her to continue. Upon KING-CHANG's return home, WING-LAM out of the blue wants to divorce him, but KING-CHANG refuses. WING-LAM intends to retain CHEUNG KEUNG as her attorney in her divorce case, but CHEUNG KEUNG declines her request……

KING-CHANG apologizes to WING-LAM because he hired a hooker which is reported by the media. WING-LAM is outraged, claiming that KING-CHANG was just putting on an act. After YI-CHUN sees SZE-WAI, she goes to discuss KWOK-LAP's case with her, but SZE-WAI wants KWOK-LAP to surrender half of his prize to her client and make an apology as well, to which YI-CHUN disagrees, thinking it's unfair. FONG NING gives WING-LAM some of KING-CHANG's share, adding that she can keep it as long as she agrees not to file for divorce. Meanwhile, CHEUNG KEUNG urges KING-CHANG to divorce WING-LAM right away. Otherwise, he is going to schedule an interview for WING-LAM with the media. WING-LAM calls KING-CHANG and promises that she is not going to say anything bad about him. Having heard this, KING-CHANG cannot help feeling strange so he rushes back home……

SIU-WAH reads a magazine that covers an article about how CHEUNG KEUNG instigated WING-LAM to commit suicide, so she intends to call LIK-HANG and ask him about CHEUNG KEUNG's reaction. At that moment, KWOK-LAP appears and gives her some money. With the stock market falling sharply, HO-TIN seems to be very nervous. He keeps watching the financial news and does not pay any attention to what SZE-WAI says about their wedding. KING-CHANG puts FONG NING in charge of the reverse takeover project by Tai Wan Group, and tells her to find CHEUNG KEUNG. HO-TIN goes to have a word with CHEUNG KEUNG, informing him that someone wants to recruit him. Just as CHEUNG KEUNG is about to have a meeting with the buyer, he is suddenly suspended by the law firm from all his duties. He later finds out that his conversation with HO-TIN was recorded and the audio file was edited……

SZE-WAI wants CHEUNG KEUNG to represent HO-TIN in the upcoming lawsuit and win the battle for him, but CHEUNG KEUNG is shocked after hearing this. He declines her request. When YAT-HONG claims that he asked HONG-YEE to help him, WAI-LEUNG frankly tells him that they cannot rely on her as she is very dangerous. At the meeting, YI-CHUN and LIK-HANG ask HO-TIN for what happened the other day. Surprisingly, CHEUNG KEUNG does not pay any attention to that, and he even indicates that HO-TIN concealed some facts. KING-CHANG and KA-TO attend a banquet, during which YAT-HONG suddenly shows up. Holding a mini-cam in his hand, YAT-HONG warns KING-CHANG not to play any tricks, making KING-CHANG feel very confused. YI-CHUN and LIK-HANG arrive at the Department of Justice to defend HO-TIN in hopes of having them withdraw all the charges. Upon HONG-YEE's return to the law firm, KING-CHANG out of the blue fires her……

At the meeting, KING-CHANG asks YI-CHUN about the copyright case; she replies that both sides have settled the case out of court. Unexpectedly, KING-CHANG reprimands YI-CHUN for this. KING-CHANG then asks WAI-LEUNG about the land developer's case, adding that he is going to hand the case over to CHEUNG KEUNG if there has not been any progress. WAI-LEUNG assures him that he is going to settle the issue within two days. KAI-YIU asks CHEUNG KEUNG out to meet him and asks him about YI-CHUN's situation. CHEUNG KEUNG frankly admits that though she has the power, she does not know how to use it to its fullest. In view of this, KAI-YIU reveals to CHEUNG KEUNG that he wants to make him the new chairman, but CHEUNG KEUNG turns him down. After learning that HONG-YEE regains her consciousness, KING-CHANG rushes to the hospital, where he meets her alone and wants her to accuse YAT-HONG of having pushed her and caused her injuries……

CHEUNG KEUNG suddenly shows support for YAT-HONG's resignation decision, above which he even takes out a cheque of $3 million, claiming it's the money YAT-HONG gave him for having his vote. YAT-HONG asks CHEUNG KEUNG how come he voted for him, wondering whether he is up to something. KING-CHANG waits until all the members leave, then starts reprimanding WAI-LEUNG and FONG NING, claiming that he only trusts one of them. CHEUNG KEUNG goes to meet a client, who is willing to offer $500 million to buy out Daylight News. According to the assessment conducted by SIU-WAH and the others, Daylight News is worth more than $500 million. However, when the client offers to pay them double for the counsel fee, CHEUNG KEUNG instantly claims that he is able to handle this. SIU-WAH discloses that the lawyer who represents Daylight News turns out to be FONG NING. Having heard this, CHEUNG KEUNG appears to be reluctant……

HEI-MAN learns that FONG NING's opponent is CHEUNG KEUNG, so she asks her whether she has the confidence to beat him. Following a news report that a large group of people are protesting in front of the building of Daylight News, HEI-MAN points out that the buyout price will drop sharply. However, FONG NING is of the opinion that it will depend on her meeting with CHEUNG KEUNG. FONG NING then negotiates with CHEUNG KEUNG about the Daylight News buyout plan, and she asks for $650 million. CHEUNG KEUNG cannot believe that her asking price is higher than the offer. FONG NING successfully takes CHEUNG KEUNG by surprise, and she instantly becomes HEI-MAN and YI-CHUN's idol. HO-TIN accompanies KWAN-YIN to the law firm, hoping that KAI-NAM will withdraw the allegations against her. Unexpectedly, YI-CHUN keeps accusing her of having a lifestyle that does not match her income……

KING-CHANG arranges for LIK-HANG to deal with the case involving YUEN-HANG. When CHEUNG KEUNG asks him for a reason, KING-CHANG looks to be in pain. Upon his departure, CHEUNG KEUNG even sees him taking medicine. SIU-WAH is not happy that LIK-HANG is transferred to a different position; whereas CHEUNG KEUNG senses that KING-CHANG's attitude toward him changed. WAI-LEUNG hints that YUEN-HANG is seeking to use an illegal method to win the case, so YI-CHUN, as the chairperson, tries to stop him from doing so. CHEUNG KEUNG thinks that KING-CHANG is sick, but SIU-WAH warns him not to trust KING-CHANG. For the first time ever, YI-CHUN and the others hold a meeting for YUEN-HANG's case, and their opponents are FONG NING and HO-TIN. While YI-CHUN insists that the latest drop in the price of the stock of Yuen Fong is a result of the global economic environment, HO-TIN claims that it stemmed from YUEN-HANG's case……

HEI-MAN suddenly informs LIK-HANG that YUEN-HANG fired YI-CHUN and put WAI-LEUNG in charge of his case. CHEUNG KEUNG then goes to ask YI-CHUN about it, above which he even asks WAI-LEUNG whether he met YUEN-HANG in private and WAI-LEUNG frankly admits it. After CHEUNG KEUNG reprimands YI-CHUN for not knowing how to protect herself, YI-CHUN decides to punish WAI-LEUNG. FONG NING tells WAI-LEUNG that he is going to receive some shares of the company as reward as long as he is able to convince YUEN-HANG to accept their out-of-court settlement proposal. WAI-LEUNG promises to try his best to convince YUEN-HANG. SIU-WAH tries to make CHEUNG KEUNG understand her suspicion that KING-CHANG faked his illness as the two already know each other, and this is just a setup. However, CHEUNG KEUNG does not believe her……

LIK-HANG and the others are looking for KA-YUEN's profile in the library because they want to find his whereabouts and call him as a witness. SZE-WAI asks CHEUNG KEUNG whether or not he has any plans; whereas HO-TIN takes out a retainer agreement, adding that he would like to be his lawyer. KING-CHANG tries to stop his staff from looking for KA-YUEN, threatening to fire them all. Just as he tells his subordinate to prepare the dismissal letter, YI-CHUN appears. KING-CHANG calls an urgent meeting, seeking to kick CHEUNG KEUNG out. LIK-HANG reports that the police have laid charges against CHEUNG KEUNG, and the prosecutor is SZE-WAI. SIU-WAH takes out a document and hands it over to LIK-HANG. It turns out that CHEUNG KEUNG gave LIK-HANG all his shares. CHEUNG KEUNG goes with HO-TIN to the department of Justice, during which SZE-WAI frankly tells him to plead guilty because there is overwhelming evidence against him……

After KING-CHANG becomes the new chairman, he reallocates each person's job. CHEUNG KEUNG goes to meet KING-CHANG in the Chairman's room, during which KING-CHANG tells him that he has a case for him. Seeing that it's a case involving a flight attendant and an airline company, CHEUNG KEUNG feels upset. YI-CHUN files a lawsuit against Dr. SUEN on behalf of her client SUET-LAI, accusing him of misconduct resulting in the stillbirth of her baby. However, the lawyer who represents Dr. SUEN turns out to be FONG NING, who argues that Dr. SUEN was very professional and followed the medical procedure. LIK-HANG locates the video showing that YUK-CHING was bullied by the airline staff. However, CHEUNG KEUNG cannot help getting suspicious after viewing YUK-CHING's medical examination report. On the other hand, KING-CHANG goes to visit KAI-YIU and mocks him, adding that he has already kicked YI-CHUN out of the law firm……

KING-CHANG wants to buy all the shares that WAI-LEUNG has, adding that YAT-HONG and the others have already sold their shares to WING-LAM. WAI-LEUNG claims that he needs some time to think about it, so KING-CHANG suspects that WAI-LEUNG has already met WING-LAM. Suddenly, YUK-CHING shows up and wants to see CHEUNG KEUNG. SIU-WAH tells her that she cannot see CHEUNG KEUNG without having her lawyer accompany her. SIU-WAH goes to plead with CHEUNG KEUNG on behalf of YUK-CHING. In response to this, CHEUNG KEUNG claims that he offered a better deal to her, yet she refused to accept it. YAT-HONG pays a visit to KAI-YIU, who tells him that he applied for early parole. Just as YI-CHUN is making a closing argument at the last medical misconduct hearing, SUET-LAI out of the blue tells her that she is not going to sue Dr. SUEN anymore……

WAI-LEUNG passes the share purchase agreement to the board members and tells them that they will not have any business with the law firm once they sign the agreement. The members reprimand KING-CHANG for lying to them, but KING-CHANG claims that he has done everything he can. KAI-YIU goes to meet CHEUNG KEUNG in secret, and he wants CHEUNG KEUNG to take over the position of chairman. According to him, only CHEUNG KEUNG can outwit KING-CHANG. KING-CHANG tells WAI-LEUNG that he decides to merge the law firm with the Singaporean company, aiming to take the company global. On top of that, he even reveals that KAI-YIU has been released from jail. WING-LAM proposes a company reform and FONG NING is immediately dismissed. FONG NING goes to meet WING-LAM in private, but she does not offer her any explanation, so FONG NING decides to file a lawsuit to seek justice……

FONG NING's case attracts global attention because if FONG NING wins, the case will set a precedent for those who also want to initiate a lawsuit against the Singaporean company. KING-CHANG meets up with CHEUNG KEUNG before the trial, and he expresses that he is looking forward to seeing him at court. At the beginning of the trial, WING-LAM is called as the first witness. While CHEUNG KEUNG is very pushy, KING-CHANG stands his ground. Late at night, WAI-LEUNG meets up with HO-TIN and reveals KING-CHANG's intention which is to make him one of the members in charge of the market of greater China, but HO-TIN rejects the offer. After CHEUNG KEUNG questions HO-TIN at court, KING-CHANG raises doubts about HO-TIN's credibility, adding that YI-CHUN is also biased on the grounds that YI-CHUN is FONG NING's best friend……
