CHUEN blames him for not doing well and CHEUNG then decides to devote much effort to cracking down cases in order to prove his efficiency. CHUEN often visits SHAN's father so as to get close to SHAN. TIN notices that and urges CHUEN to devote more time to his career Rather than wasting time on love affair, CHUEN does not take his words and the two fallout with each other. On the other hand, CHUEN's mother who has spoiled him since he is young, renders much support to him. He follows the case and eventually saves him from becoming a triad member. TUNG feels much indebted to CHEUNG for his great help and from then on respects CHEUNG much. Eager to see" BILL prosper in his career, KM is disappointed to see BILL paying no effort in cramming for the assessment examination. The two drift further apart.

LOK'CHEONG SAN is the head of a gang involving in a. lot of criminal activities. The police is eager to 'gather evidence of his crimes and make him pay for them. However , on the surface, he is a decent successful merchant arid the po1ice have difficulty dealing with him. When YEE learns that MING as fallen out with GEORGE because of her, she frankly tells MING that she has never had any affections for her. This hurts MUTG much. One day, while YEE and GEORGE are going out, they run into MING. However, the hw feel very frightened because they are carrying drugs with them. So they try to run away from MING whose suspicion grows and the two parties give chase , GEORGE's cycle overturns and he is hurt. On the other hand, KAR and BILL's senior object to BILL's involvement in MING's Case for fear that he cannot remain impartial. She would like TIN to use his influence to bring convenience to her work. In order to please SHAN, CHUEN persuades TIN to offer her his assistance. Seeing that BILL is busy with TUNG's case and pays little attention to the assessment examination, CRUEN's fear for him grows less and the friendship between the two turns better. YIN is delighted to learn that KAR is proposing a divorce , Thinking that he now stands a better chance, he shows his affection for her but KAR refuses his love. Feeling sad and disappointed, YIN cannot stand being teased and humiliated by his team-mates. He threatens to kill them with his gun and finally he is sacked. CHEUNG's neighbour, LUK SIU FAN, is raped by SAN's son ROCKY. Besides offering her consolation, CHEUNG also promises to make ROCKY pay for his crime. After a thorough investigation, CHU~N still decides not to charge ROCKY because of insufficient evidence. CHEUNG is unwilling to give up the case and the two have a quarrel. SAN is afraid that ROCKY will get into trouble. So he pays FAN's mother a great sum of money asking not to let FAN appear as witness in the court.

CHEUNG devotes much time to FAN's case and has little time to spend with SHAN. CHUEN gets hold of this opportunity to reveal his love for SHAN who remains unimpressed. YIN suffers setback both in his love and career. He is taken to drinking and MING is sad to find his best friend like that. MING asks KAR to talk to YIN. KAR encourages YIN to forget the past and start everything all over again. YIN accepts her advice and the two remains to be friends. Both BILL and CHUEN are investigating SAN's involvement in crimes. However, CHUEN succeeds in confiscating a great amount of arms while BILL's effort is in vain.

Although both BILL and KAR know that they are partly responsible for making their relationship turn sour, they both hold fast to their principle and do not take the initiative to reconcile with each other. After his quarrel with CHUEN, CHEUNG finds him always posing difficulty to his work, CHEUNG is also angry to find that SHAN shares the same opinion with CHUEN over FAN's case saying that he is too emotional and impulsive. Because of this, CHEUNG falls out with SHAN. Seizing this opportunity, CHUEN proposes to SHAN who frankly refuses him and withdraws from the tangle. After much thought, SHAN friends herself deeply in love with CHEUNG. She goes to see CHEUNG and the two make up. After this, they grille de ever in love. BILL asks SIN KA TAK who is a friend of SAN's nephew PING to gather evidence for SAN's crime. To avenge on ROCKY, FAN attempted to murder him. She fails and falls into his hands. ROCKY beats her fiercely and rapes her again. Feeling, hopeless, FAN tries to kill herself. On knowing this, CHEUNG applies to CHUEN for a leave in order to save FAN. CHUEN shows some reluctance as the whole team is busy following SAN's case. CHUEN refuses to grant him the leave. However, CHEUNG is much supported by his team-mates. Only by then does GHUEN' realizes that his influence is weak. To stand a better chance to be promoted, CHUEN knows that he needs to be on friendly terms with his subordinates. Hence, not daring to antagonize them, CHUEN compromises with CHUEN. In the end, ROCKY is arrested and charged on a number of crimes. Knowing that ROCKY cannot avoid paying for his crime, SAN arranges to sneak him out of Hong Kong.

TAX finally discovers that the evidence of SAN's crime is recorded in a computer disc. and he tries to steal that from PING. SAN finds out that PING is getting along with members of the police and tries t6 send him away. However, before PING leaves Hong Kong, BILL gets hold of the copy of the disc but PING refuses to offer help and HILL cannot gain access to the information in the disc. To prevent P1NG from disclosing evidence of his crimes, SAN sends someone to kill PING who is then saved by the police. PING now makes up his mind to stan

BILL eventually gets SAN arrested and is highly praised by his senior. Feeling now confident of his promotion, BILL earnestly prepares himself better for the assessment hoping that this may bring him and KAR back together. However, KAR has made up her mind of going back to the states. On the other hand, ROCKY on knowing that PING has betrayed his father causing his death, decides to avenge on him. When he meets PING, it just happens that KAR is also around. KAR is then taken hostage by ROCKY who forces BILL to meet him. In the end, BILL saves KAR from ROCKY's hand. CHUEN blames CHEUNG for paying too much attention to FAN's case and let BILL crack down on SAN's case, reducing his chance of getting promoted. Unable to stand CHUEN's criticism, CHEUNG resigns. Nevertheless, after careful consideration, both 'CHUEN and CHEUNG Decide to forget the past and make up again.
