LAI and FUNG dash to see WING when they hear the news about a gunfight between him and HONG. She forgives him totally when she knows that he was on the way to buy her some flowers before the gunfight. TING wants to give NAN some presents, but he does not know what she wants. He calls all his friends out to have a drink at NAN’s pub, but it ends up he pays for all the drinks and worries NAN. TING learns that NAN has borrowed money from FUNG. WING finally sorts things out with CHEUNG after taking LAI’s advice and takes YIN back home. YAN moves to CHAU’s flat with NIN’s consent. CHAU treats her like a maid. HO knows an old woman who calls 999 frequently out of boredom. He promises to visit her often. A man complains that his son has abused him. Anti-crime senior inspector CHEUNG KWOK FUNG (KWOK CHUN ON, ROGER) has been living with son, HIM, since divorcing his wife, LING (KWOK SONIJA). LING files a lawsuit to fight for custody of their son. A Philippina accuses her employer of rape, but without sufficient evidence. Serious Crime Inspector CHAU KA WING (CHEUNG KA FAI, NICK) decides to investigate the employer’s wife, but FUNG disagrees. They argue and are seen by a new sergeant CHIN AR LAI (YUEN KIT YING, FENNIE). WING does not get on with his father CHEUNG (WU FUNG) and his mother, YIN (CHING HOR WAI) has to settle their arguments. The court has decided to grant FUNG custody of HIM. After hearing the verdict, HIM suddenly starts bleeding. On the way to the hospital, they pass by a crime scene where the police are chasing some armed robbers. WING decides to block off some roads and catches two suspects. Luckily FUNG manages to get HIM to the hospital in time……

FUNG interrogates LING as to who HIM’s real father is. She tells him that it is her present husband, JOHN, and that is why they decided to fight for custody of HIM. WING tries to track down some suspects who escaped. However, he is accused by a cleaning lady of indecent behaviour which amuses everyone. WING and sergeant CHAU (HUI SHIU HUNG), who is a good friend of FUNG, visit FUNG and find out the situation about HIM. LAI notices that FUNG and a pub owner NAN (LAU ALICE) are quite intimate. WING is investigating a ‘London gold’ case and suspects that LAI’s boyfriend, FAI, might be involved. He cautions her to be careful with him, but she believes that FAI is innocent and resents WING. FUNG wants to keep HIM, but because of his genetic conditioned disease, he has to give him up to his true parents.

NAN drinks with FUNG and ends up needing his care. FUNG is informed that a triad leader, CHIU, wants to expand his territory, so he searches CHIU’s premises more frequently. WING asks FUNG to remind LAI to beware of FAI, but FUNG feels awkward about doing so. CHEUNG’s store is vandalized, so he blames WING for failing to protect the family. They hate each other even more. CHAU is obsessed about horse racing. His life is well taken care of by his mother, NIN (LAI SUEN). LAI feels guilty about causing her parents to lose all their savings, but she still agrees to marry FAI. She asks to have some leave from FUNG. CHIU’s man, WAH wants to become a police witness against CHIU and he is stabbed by CHIU’s other man, PO. Luckily, PO is caught by police officers who are patrolling by. CHAU manages to make PO confess who the black hand is and successfully sentences CHIU. FAI is charged with forgery. LAI finally wakes up from her dream.

LAI assumes that WING is laughing at her stupidity and pours tea onto his face. She is then scolded by FUNG. MING (LAU HOI WAI) and HO cause inconvenience to the residence when they are clearing up some illegal structure on the top of a building. Luckily some blue berets arrive and have the situation under control. LAI asks FAI for her parents’ money back, but fails. She tells her parents the truth. WING is bothered by a young girl. When he sees LAI and her colleague, JOE (TAM SIU WAN), walk by, he uses them to leave the girl and annoys LAI. Although LAI feels reluctant to share the flat, that she rents with FAI, with JOE and WINNIE (NG MAN YAN), she has to do it to share the family burden. A ‘sex mad cutter’ is active again. WINNIE has a phobia of seeing blood. HO and MING try hard to help her overcome it. NAN visits her boyfriend TING in prison. She is still angry with FUNG for arresting TING……

WING asks LAI to be the bait in an operation to catch the ‘sex mad cutter’. Surprisingly, she agrees. She surprises everyone with her sexy look. CHEUNG’s store is set on fire deliberately. CHEUNG blames WING again. LAI finds out their problem and tries to calm them down. CHAU meets his friend CHU’s (LO KOON LAN) daughter, YING, hanging out in a disco where soft drugs are sold. He warns CHU to pay more attention to her family, but she ignores him. MING helps WINNIE overcome her phobia of seeing blood. CHAU fails a physical test. FUNG finds out who put CHEUNG’s store on fire. CHEUNG decides not to file a complaint when he realizes that he has done something wrong to cause the fire too. LAI suggests changing the venue for an operation. Eventually, the ‘sex mad cutter’ shows up and puts her in danger.

CHAU tries to pull LAI and WING together, but they do not get on. WING’s fellow officer BILL (LI KA SING, DICKSON) has a fight with an assistant lawyer, KEVIN, at NAN’s pub. NAN sees BILL pushing KEVIN into the toilet. CHAU discuss some bank loan policies with CHU’s husband, but he asks CHAU how CHU has been lately. CHAU discovers that YING often goes to rave parties. She asks him to keep it secret. WINNIE has a date with HO, but when MING tells her that he has some cinema tickets, she decides to go with MING. FUNG visits NAN at her pub and finds some more evidence against KEVIN. BILL is free and thanks WING and FUNG for their help.

WING wants to date LAI, but she keeps a distance from him. A mentally ill man, WAI holds his mother hostage against the police. He is temperamental and LAI worries about his mother. A while after the incident, WING, LAI and a social worker visit them. LAI gives WAI an Ultraman and impresses WING even more. MING is upset when HO, whose work performance is just average, has a chance to see the promotion board. LING and JOHN die in a traffic accident in the US. HIM is too shocked to speak anymore. FUNG wants to ask his parents to take care of HIM, but CHEUNG refuses. He then asks for NAN’s favour. LAI and FUNG are investigating a case of a young girl, BOWIE, who died from falling off a building. They scold her parents when they show no sadness. NAN rushes HIM to the hospital after she hurts him accidentally. FUNG feels relieved when he learns that HIM is fine. Meanwhile, the doctor warms him that HIM might slowly become isolated.

NAN takes HIM for an outing, but she gets HIM scared again. FUNG has to ask LAI to take care of HIM. FUNG suspects that BOWIE’s boyfriend was connected with her death, so he checks him up and finds evidence. He tells FUNG the whole truth. HIM finally speaks again and delights LAI. WING learns that WAI is following LAI. He arrests him, but LAI finds him harmless and ignores WING. HIM pushes over a pile of oranges, when the shop owner scolds FUNG, HIM admits that it is his fault and surprises FUNG. HIM and FUNG are buddies again. They go out with WING and LAI and are sure that HIM has overcome the fear from the past. LAI dates WING and cheers him up. CHAU loses some money, which he borrows from WING and FUNG to pay for NIN’s medical cost, to YAN. WAI suddenly holds LAI hostage after she has a date with WING.

WING has WAI under control. The relationship between LAI and WING progresses after that. YAN asks CHAU for more money, but he refuses. However, NIN has a good feeling about YAN. LAI wants to help NIN by reading up, but WING disapproves of her method. She finds him too subjective. He tries to borrow some money from CHEUNG, but fails. LAI proposes MAY to be FUNG’s source in order to destroy a prostitution organisation. WING disagrees. LAI uses MAY’s information and organizes an operation hoping they will catch the boss, GILBERT, but fails. GILBERT beats up MAY badly. When LAI tries to negotiate with him, he sues her for attacking him. She has an argument with WING afterward. WING learns that YIN is missing and has a fight with CHEUNG. LAI proposes to report to the police. FUNG appoints LAI to follow up GILBERT’s case again. She decides to monitor him.

WING finds a missing car and a burnt body according to the information from a gun shot case. From the body’s identity, he expects that a wanted suspect, HONG, will be in action soon. Meanwhile, he listens to LAI and tries to get on with CHEUNG, but CHEUNG ignores him. LAI visits CHEUNG. WING thinks that she has hurt CHEUNG and gets her really mad. CHEUNG and WING find a note from YIN and realize why she went away. CHU notices that HO is not so confident in attending a promotion board meeting and encourages him. JOE discovers that WINNIE is in love with HO. TING is released from prison and meets FUNG again. LAI orders to a search of GILBERT’s house. Meanwhile, WING bumps into HONG on a street. He points a gun towards WING when he finds out that he is a policeman.

WING takes LAI for a hiking holiday. He rushes her up to the summit to see the sunrise. A gang leader ‘Beard’ dies in a car crash. His followers, KU and YUNG, start splitting his territory. LAI goes to FUNG’s home instead of going for WING’s arrangements. FUNG is worried when he sees LAI and WING are not being honest to each other. WINNIE admires HO and invites him for dinner. NAN is shocked when she finds a pack of cocaine left by a customer. FUNG tries to persuade TING not to hang out with triads again, but he ignores him. WING investigates illegal soccer betting in NAN’s pub. HO introduces work for an old lady’s grandson, SAM, but he feels troubles. SAM is suspected of involvement in the illegal soccer betting case and shocks HO. Both NAN and FUNG try to persuade TING to stop seeing HING, a triad. Some gangsters are after SAM and get HO hurt. YIN is grateful for LAI pulling WING and CHEUNG back……

FUNG finds both KU and YUNG’s premises have been vandalized. YUNG is killed. He worries that YUNG’s men will go after KU. CHAU thinks that YAN is pretending to be sick. He feels guilty when she really blacks out. SAN suddenly decides to go to the States. YING is very disappointed that she cannot send him off. WINNIE finally tells HO her feelings and delights him. HING asks TING to take care of some of Beard’s business and worries NAN. LAI feels pressurized when WING invites her to a family dinner. One of LAI’s colleagues is hurt because of her leaving her position in an operation. LAI wants to split up with WING.

LAI feels guilty for her misconduct. FUNG comforts her. She tells WING that they don’t match. He understands her meaning, but tries to hide from it. FUNG takes good care of her when she has a stomachache. They visit their colleague in the hospital. His family blames her for everything. She finally bursts into tears on FUNG. HO and WINNIE rush into a flat to save a girl who is sitting on the balcony edge. They suspect that all young people inside the flat have taken drugs. YING is among them. CHU blames SAN for failing to teach her. MING and HO are both attending a promotion board meeting. MING is very confident while HO is not. WINNIE encourages him. YAN finds out that CHU and CHAU were lovers and thinks that he is after CHU again. She tells CHAU that she is in love with him and bothers him.

YING is proved innocent in the overdose case. CHEUNG worries about WING because he loves LAI. CHU takes YING to Ocean Park although she is frightened by the rides. YING is very touched and their conflicts disappear. YAN treats CHAU very well, but he tries very hard to scare her off. WING gathers all his strength to visit LAI, but she is very cold towards him. YIN and CHEUNG set up some chances for LAI and WING. LAI finds WING annoying. TING works as a manager in a restaurant. FUNG and NAN visit him there. They see that TING has become very aggressive after being treated badly by a customer. Luckily, FUNG stops him in time. LAI learns that FUNG is guilty about ruining TING’s life when he put him in prison, so she takes him to see the sunrise to relax. WING finds out that FUNG and LAI are dating.

WING is going to take a short course in England. Everyone asks him to bring back a souvenir. CHAU thinks that YAN has stolen money from YIN. YAN finds his accusation unbearable and becomes a maid in CHU’s place. TING decides to work with HING after seeing NAN working as a saleslady on a street. FUNG meets LAI in a banquet. They start to like each other and decide to accompany each other next time. NIN finds the missing money and blames CHAU for mistreating YAN. CHAU is sick. When he is hardly conscious, he sees YAN taking care of him and tells her his feelings. WING comes back from training. He still loves LAI, so he decides to pursue her again. FUNG feels awkward. A witness holds evidence showing that HING was behind Beard’s death. LAI is knocked down by a car when she is about to arrest HING. Her lower body is hurt and needs physiotherapy. Both FUNG and WING worry about her……

LAI learns that WING has spent the whole night recording songs and preparing soup for her. She is cold towards him in fear of him not being able to let her go. FUNG notices that LAI depends heavily on him. He worries that she will lose support and meanwhile, mistake their friendship. TING gets involved in illegal business again. NAN is annoyed and asks help from FUNG. YAN asks CHU to lie to CHAU saying that she is going to get married and move to Brazil. However, the truth is revealed when CHAU asks her in person. They then become a couple. LAI is discharged from the hospital. Both FUNG and WING take her home. HOI wants to take over TING ever since HING has been arrested. They have a fight in a pub. NAN asks FUNG to help and annoys TING. He meets HOI in a restaurant to negotiate. When they are about to start a fight, FUNG arrives and stops them. TING is infuriated with NAN going to FUNG for everything……

CHAU and YAN send some physiotherapy equipment to LAI on FUNG’s behalf. She is disappointed that FUNG does not show up. When WING asks him to pass some more things to LAI, he feels troubled. MING is upset when HO is promoted, but he is not. He thinks that WINNIE and HO are fooling him when he sees them dating. MING feels no fun in a celebration party for HO’s promotion. When he is about to leave, JOE stops him and tells him her feeling. HOI dies in a car crash. NAN interrogates TING to see if he is related in anyway, but he denies involvement. TING sets up a restaurant to cover up his illegitimate activities. NAN finally leaves him and stays with FUNG. TING sends some triads to wait for NAN at FUNG’s place. FUNG learns that LAI wants to have her birthday with him alone, so he refuses her with some excuses. WING gives LAI an antique watch for her birthday. However, he sees her going to find FUNG……

There is tension between WING and FUNG. Ironically, they are arranged to work together on a case. FUNG is tricked by some triads. Luckily, WING arrives in time to save him. LAI returns to work. Everyone notices there is conflict between WING, FUNG and her. All colleagues congratulate HO on his promotion. MING, however, takes his encouragement as sarcasm. Finally, he wakes up from his self-centred behaviour after JOE’s scolding. He approaches WINNIE and HO again. NAN leaves TING because of his bad act, but when she sees him working hard in a pub again, she decides to get back to him. FUNG is suspended because someone complains about him making up a case. NAN understands that LAI suspects TING is behind the setup, but she trusts him. LAI spots TING meeting a key witness against FUNG, so she follows them. WING joins in when he spots them too. FUNG feels guilty when he learns that LAI has triggered her old wound from following TING.

WING can finally let go of LAI after seeing how she is for FUNG. He is annoyed when he learns that FUNG has not visited her. NAN agrees to work with WING to monitor TING. She then feels that she has betrayed TING. CHAU tries to persuade FUNG to accept LAI, but he holds back. WING has arranged to pick up LAI from the hospital with FUNG. Later he pretends that he cannot make it. The witness tells the police about TING’s trap in order to save himself. FUNG rushes to NAN’s pub after receiving a phone call. He has not calculated that TING will suddenly jump out and point at him with a gun. WING senses something is going on when he calls FUNG up, so he dashes to the pub with LAI and they subdue TING. He then holds LAI hostage and tries to flee to the ferry pier. Luckily, he is stopped by Customs officers, so he turns back and keeps hold of LAI against the police. Suddenly, FUNG’s phone rings and he is inspired…
