Bakery employee Chen Hue is a gambling addict. One day, while his Uncle Chen Kuei happens to be out, he sneaks into a gambling house to gamble. Finding Chen Kuei greatly humiliated on his errand, he storms the establishment, resulting in Chen being fired. Then He brags about supporting his Uncle for the rest of his life. One night, while Chen Hue and Ma Yung are loitering along the harbor, they discover Chi and his company engaged in smuggling tobacco. Recklessly impulsive, Chen Hua even lays hands on the contraband. Chen Hue and Ma Yung are caught while in the act of stealing the tobacco. They escape and are pursued. The two are rescued by Wang Chi-ming and they become close friends to form a triumvirate. Episode 2

Chia-ming insists on joining the operation and comes up with an ingenious scheme. The trio successfully take away a batch of tobacco and hide it in an old godown. On learning of this, gang boas Lung Cheng is furious and orders Chi to be in hot pursuit of them. Chen Hua confides to Chou Shu-chuan his intention to quit the bakery and she reveals it to Chen Kuei. Chen takes Chen Hue to task as a result. Shu-chuan feels sorry about this. Chia-ming adnires Ku Hsiao-ya who appears in a photo on the show window of a photo studio. Chen Hua snatches it away for him and Chia-ming takes it home, thinking of her day and night. Yu-fang introduces Chi a-ming to study in Pu Tung Middle School. At the school-opening party.,Chia-ming comes upon Hsiao Ya who happens to be studying in the same school vying for the favor of Heiao Ya, Chia-ming and Big Mark slug it out. Episode 3

Chen Kuei discovers that Chen Hua and his friends have stolen tobacco and reprimands them. For safety sake, Chen Kuei promises to help sell the tobacco. Chen Kuei sells half of the tobacco to Shek. Chen earns a profit and goes around to enjoy himself. Chen Hua goes back to the bakery, tells You-gen he wants to quit and repays the debt he owes Shu-chuan. Cheri Kuei tries to match Chen Hua with Shu-rhuan. Unfortunately, though Shu-chuan falls for Hua, Hua is not interested. Accompanied by Chen Hue and Ma Yung, Chia-ming asked Hsiao-ya to go to the countryside. Big Mark tries to stop them. Chen Hua tricks Big Mark and leads him away. Finally, Hsiao-ya and Mei-li go to the villa of Chi a-ming'sfather, Ku Yung-siang, and have fun. Big Mark and his gang want to beat up Chia-ming. Chia-ming alone by him is defeated and injured. Hsiao-ya expresses her admiration for Chen Hua while dressing his wounds and upsets Chia-ming.… ...

Episode 4

Chen Huais attacked in an arr,bush set up by Lung Cheng but is lucky and survives. Chen Kuei is killed. Chen Hua vows to take revenge. In order to avoid getting Ma Yung and Chia-ming into trouble, Chan Hua decides to act by himself. Secretly, he goes to take revenge on Lung Cheng. Ma Yung and Chi a-ming notice that Chen Hua is not his usual self and are puzzled. Chen Hua kidnapped Cheng's wife, Gin Fung, in order to force Lung to meet him alone by himself. Ma Yung and Chia-ming find out about the meeting and want to go along. However, Chen Hua strongly refuses. Lung Cheng saves rain Fung according to his plans. Chen Hua is shot. At a critical moment, Ma Yung shoots dead one of Lung Cheng's men and together with Chi a-ming, saves Chen Hua. Chen Hue is seriously wounded. While Ma Yung and Chia-ming are at loss of what to do, Mei-li comes along.… ...

Episode 5

Yung-slang asks Chen Hua how he and Lung Cheng become enemies. Though Yung-slang and Chen Hua have only known each other for a short time, they pour out their hearts to each other. Yung-slang is very fond of Ch en Hua. Ma Yung goes to visit Chen Hua and discovers that Mei-li is taking good care of him. Though agitated, Ma Yung goes away quietly. By chance, Hsiao-y comes to know that Chen Hua is in the villa and recuperating from his wounds. Hsiao-ya thinks that Yung-slang and Mei-li are deliberating hiding the facts from her and throws a tantrum. Yung explains to Hsiao-ya that Chen Huais pursued by his enemies and therefore must keep his hiding place a secret. Hsiao-ya's anger subsides. Yung-slang goes to Lung Cheng and begs him to have mercy on Chen Hua. Lung appears to agree but secretly he is scheduling some evil plans to deal with Yung-slang. Chen Hua recovers and.… ...

Yung-slang aids Chen Hua and his two friends to set up the Trio trading company for smuggling firearms. At the opening ceremony party, Chen Hua deliberately treats Shu-chuan intimately. Hsiao-ya and Mei-li are very upset though Shu-chuan feels sweet and happy. The trio of Chen Hua cooperates and works hard and is doing fine business. The three of them are very happy. Yung-slang is very fond of .the three and encourages Chen Hua to go after Hsiao-ya. Chen Hua is agitated and tells Chia-ming everything. Though Chia-ming agrees to have a fair competition, his heart is in great pain. Chen Hua dates Hsiao-ya while Mei-li secretly trails them. Free from any restraints, Chen Hua and Hsiao-ya freely express their love for each other. Mei-li is heart-broken and tries to save the relationship by dating Chen Hua.… ...

Mei-li is agitated and has sex with Ma Yung. Me Yung feels troubled and tells Chia-ming everything. Chia-ming encourages Ma Yung to propose to Mei-li. Ma Yung therefore plucks up his courage and tells Mei-li his love for her. Mei-li is moved and agrees to marry him. When Hsiao-ya learns of Mei-li's marriage plans, she wants to match dung-slang with yiang Lu-lu. Hsiao-ya visits Lu-lu and encourages her to marry Yung-slang as soon as possible. Chen Hua pursues Ding's man to take revenge. Ding's man asks Lung Cheng for assistance and promises to give him half of the firearms. Lung Cheng agrees to help deal with Chen Hua. Ma Sheng sets up a laundry. But lacking business skills, he loses all money. Ma Sheng goes to Zhang Hou. Deceived by his flowery speech, she promises to lend him money. Ma Yung knows about the incident and is very angry. Lung Cheng goes to the wedding banquet of Ma Yung and gets very drunk.… ...

Episode 9

Chen Hua disregards all danger and smuggles the goods according to his plans. He is attacked by Lung Cheng and is seriously wounded. Chen Hue knows that he is no match with Lung Cheng and propose to Yung-slang that he wants to leave Shanghai. Yung-slang claims that he can help Chuen Hua beat Lung Cheng. In view of mutual benefit, Chen Hua agrees to cooperate with Yung-slang. Chia-ming and Yu-fang go to Sunday church. Lung Cheng sends his men to kill Chi a-ming. Yu-fang is killed while trying to save Chia-ming. Lung Cheng has failed in his multiple attempts to kill Chen Hua and the trio. He there for decides to get all of them during the funeral of Yu-fang. However, Chen Hua is well-prepared to fight back. In a shootout, Lung Cheng is killed. Chia-mingis contrite because of Yu-fang's death.… ...

Yung-siang sends his men to assassinate Chen Hua. Chen Hua is alert and escapes. Yung-siang orders Ah Ci to try every possible way to kill Chen Hua to avoid any further trouble. Chen Hua is aided by Uncle Gou and hides in his house. He gets along well with Uncle Gou's grandson Little Wen. Yung-siang hides the fact from Ma Yung that he is pursuing Chen Hua. He orders Yung to be responsible for the shipment of soil. Meanwhile, Mei-li finds that she is expecting and Ma Yung is delighted. Hsiao-ya finds that Chen Hua is missing. Troubled, she enquiries Shu-chuan about it. However, Shu-chuan has no idea on the whereabouts of Chen Hua. While chatting with Shu-chuan, Hsiao-ya mistakens that Chen Hua and Shu-chuan are in love and is further disappointed. Ah Ci finds out that Chen Hua is hiding in Uncle Gou’s home. He takes his men to surround the house trying to capture Chen Hua. Uncle Gou and Little Wen are killed.… ...

Episode 11

Chen Hua tells Yung-slang that he is willing to forget the past. In order to avoid Chen Hua harming Hsiao-ya, Yung-slang agrees to the marriage. Hsiao-ya has no idea about the dealings under the table. She is very happy and prepares for the wedding. Chen Hua visits Shu-chuan and tells her about the marriage. Though feeling sad, Shu-chuan gives Chen Hua her blessing. Yung-slang sends his men to burn down Chou's home and wants to kill Chen Hua. Chen Hua is alert and escapes with Shu-chuan. You-gen is burnt to death. Chen Hua knows that You-gen is dead and is very contrite. He tells Shu-chuan the whole story and the two of them take refuge at an inn. Hsiao-ya is very worried because of Chen Hua's disappearance. Yung-slang has someone take good care ofher while sending his men to pursue Chen Hua and kill him. He will not let Chen Hua and Hsiao-ya see each other again.… ...

Episode 12

In view of their brotherly relationship, Ma Yung let Chen go. Chen Hua and Shu-chuan escape to Wu-shek. While Shu-chuan works in a soil factory, Chen Hua works as a helper in an opera performance group. Chen Hua is grateful to Shu-chuan and they get married. The leader of the Smuggling Investigation Unit, Ah Gi, blackmails Yung-siang for a larger bribe. Yung-siang refuses; Ah Gi makes life difficult for him and confiscates his goods. Yung-slang still refuses to comply. He kidnaps Ali Gi's son to coerce Ali Gi to comply. Ali Gi follows suit in revenge and kidnaps Hsiao-ya to threaten Yung-slang. Ah Gi tells Hsiao-ya about Yung-slang's smuggling business and. all his evil deeds. Hsiao-ya half believes what Ali Gi says. For Hsiao-ya's safety sake, Yung-slang exchanges Gi's son for Hsiao-ya. Hsiao-ya questions Yung-slang about the truth.… ...

Li Zu, the son of a rich family, goes to see an opera. The director of the opera group orders Xua Ian-xung to seduce Li Zu, Sai Giao-tian observes everything and is jealous. Giao-tian and lan-xung secretly meet each other but are discovered by Uncle Xao. Uncle Xao beats up Giao-tian. Giao-tian is spiteful towards Uncle Xao. Uncle Xao kidnaps Li Zu and demands a large ransom from Li's parents. Furthermore, Uncle Xao makes then Hua take all the blame. Chen Hua does not want to be taken advantage of, Giao-tian and Ian-xung also seize the opportunity to rebel. Together they kill Uncle Xao and decide to cooperate and start their own business. After graduating from military school, Chia-ming did very well in the battlefield in the North Eastern area. He is transferred back to Shanghai to take up the post of assistant director of the police force. Chia-ming's father is very pleased and arranges a welcome banquet.… ...

Chia-ming meets Ma Yung and persuades him to stop his business to avoid further conflicts between himself and Ma Yung. Ma Yung is troubled by his conflicting thoughts. Chia-ming meets Hsiao-ya by chance. The two of them tell each other the happenings since they left each other. Chia-ming feels that he still has a chance with Hsiao-ya and is very happy. He starts dating Hsiao-ya. Mei-li is again expecting. Ma Yung is very happy, but for safety sake, he suggests to Yung-slang he wants to quit. Yung-siangknows that Ma Yung is influenced by Chia-ming he asks to see Chia-ming, while trying to persuade him he learns the whereabouts of Hsiao-ya. Yung-slang goes to see Hsiao-ya. Hsiao-ya still remembers the past and refuses to forgive Yung-slang, asking him to leave. She blames Chia-ming for meddling in other people's business. Chia-ming apologizes to Hsiao-ya and discovers that Hsiao-ya stil loves Chen Hua.… ...

ChenHua and Tian Phui-ming are together smuggling firearms. Chen HUT invited Yung-slang to be partners promising to forget the past. In view of the big profit, Yung-slang agrees. Chen Hua and Tian together open a nightclub and have very good business. The two of them are very optimistic about the future. Together, they defeat the local triads and remove all obstacles to their smuggling business. Ma Yung meets Chen Huaand is very happy. He invites Chen Hua and his wife back home for dinner. Zhang Hou and Mei-li are also happy to meet their old friends. Chia-ming and Hsiao-ya return from their honeymoon. Chia-ming's father gives them a warm welcome. Upon returning to his work in the police, Chia-roing is assigned the important post of investigating the smuggling of firearms. In the eve of smuggling the firearms, Chen Hua makes detailed arrangements to take precautions against Yung-siang.… ...

Under the care of Mei-li, Yung-siang recovers but is lame and cannot move around. Yung-siang hates Chen Hua and makes several attempts to kill him but fails. Mei-li's baby is due to arrive and is taken to the hospital. Coincidentally, Ch. Hua is also taking Hsiao-ya to the hospital to recuperate. Yung-siang sees his enemy and attacks Chen Hua. But he misses and is shot dead by Chen Hua. Mei-li is also shot dead in the commotion. Ma Yung has calculated the date when his baby is due to arrive and plans to abscond to meet Mei-Ii. When he learns of the death of Mei-li and Yung-siang, he is very sad and absconds. The Japanese soldiers capture him and beat him up badly. Hsiao-ya learns that Chen Hua has killed Yung-siang and Mei-li and is very sad. She has wanted to kill ChenHua to revenge but cannot bring herself to do it.… ...

Ma Yung cannot bring him to kill Chen Hua and let him go. Ma Sheng finds the trail of Chia-ming, but before he can report the matter to the Japanese spy, he meets Ma Yung. M.Sheng tells Ma YungChia-ming's whereabouts. Ma Yung visits Chi a-ming while Chia-ming, Bang and Liang, and some other spies are discussing the bombing of the Japanese godown where firearms are stored. Ma Yung volunteers to join. Everybody is high spirited. The Japanese army questions Ma Sheng about the whereabouts of Ma Yung. Ma Sheng refuses to disclose and is shot dead. Zhang Hou learns about it and feels very sad. In order to be able to leave Shanghai -after bombing the go down, Chia-ming goes to Chen Hua asking him to get permits from Tian. Chen'Hua refuses and Chia-ming is disappointed and goes away. Chia-ming and others act according to their plans and bomb the go down containing firearms. Ma Yung is bombed while trying to pick up Mei-lies photo.… ...
