In Birmingham, Herchy Boal visits an English bull terrier that is in a terrible state after being left in its own filth in a room with no food or water, while Luton inspector Stephanie deals with a disobedient Japanese Akita that is running circles around its owner.

Birmingham RSPCA inspector Herchy Boal comes to the aid of an emaciated black labrador in desperate need of veterinary attention, while Graeme Petty finds two shih-tzus living in filthy conditions at a house in Scunthorpe. In Staffordshire, Jayne Bashford is called to attend to an apparently abandoned dog, but the true story is much more surprising. Plus, the programme catches up with two Newfoundlands that were rescued in a previous series.

The new owners of an elderly Yorkie-cross attend a dog first-aid training day where they learn some useful tips, including where to locate a pulse and how to perform canine CPR. In south London, Kate Fletcher rescues a dog from a house littered with drug paraphernalia, while Emma Stainthorpe takes part in a joint police and RSPCA raid on an illegal puppy farm in Durham. At West Hatch Animal Centre in Taunton, kennel supervisor Sue Dicks asks a specialist trainer to put a Staffie through its paces to see if it has got what it takes to become a police dog.

Matt Gough co-ordinates a mammoth operation involving the police, the fire service and the RSPCA to remove 72 dogs from an Essex farm. In Plymouth, inspector Sarah Morris catches a Border collie that has run away from its owner and the dog is sent on a training day, while the programme also visits Ruffs - the RSPCA's alternative to Crufts that has categories including Happiest Hound and Perfectly Imperfect. There is also a catch up with Lupo, a Rottweiler cross rescued last year from a filthy caravan on a Welsh farm.

Liverpool-based RSPCA inspector Anthony calls on the assistance of the police to help rescue a boxer that has been left locked in a house with no suitable food or water. In Northamptonshire, Michelle checks in on a bulldog and its puppies to see if they are getting the care they need, while Birmingham officer Suzie has to deal with an irate owner when she responds to a report of a dog abandoned in a back garden.

In Birmingham, RSPCA inspector Scott Vanes discovers a young Staffie tethered to a makeshift kennel in a rubbish-strewn garden, while Herchy Boal visits a house and finds a shockingly thin Labrador. Also, archive footage shows a father and son who trained their dogs to kill wildlife purely for their own entertainment, and who did not get away with their cruel treatment of animals thanks to inspector Anthony Joynes' hard work. Finally, the programme spends a day with Laura and her rescue dog Sky as they compete in an agility show.

Chief Inspector Cathy Hyde works with the police to break up a suspected puppy-trafficking ring in Lancashire and is dismayed to discover that some of the dogs are suffering from a deadly virus. In Birmingham, Herchy Boal tries to persuade Jason to give up his beloved huskies after complaints from his neighbours, while Clare Dew heads for north London after receiving a call about a Maltese-terrier cross on the roof of a takeaway shop on a busy main road.

Jayne Bashford finds a Labrador puppy in a shocking state of neglect in a filthy house in Staffordshire, while Chris Shaw tries to find a new home for an Alaskan malamute. Birmingham-based inspector Susie Payne discovers three female Staffordshire bull terriers have been packed into a tiny cage in an attempt to keep them away from an amorous male, and Tony Woodley attempts to locate the owner of a chihuahua left in a locked car on a Kent industrial estate. Plus, a deaf American bulldog puppy is taught sign language to help her communicate well with people.

Inspector Kate Fletcher is called out and discovers a Belgian shepherd in such an emaciated condition that it is close to death, while Lancashire-based officer Jason Bowles returns to check on Tyson the husky, but finds the owner absent and the dog surrounded by two weeks' worth of mess. Plus, an unruly Leonberger cross is sent back to the RSPCA for training, Anthony Pulfer offers to take a matted Jack Russell for a haircut and there's an update on the 60 semi-feral collies found inside a filthy house.

Merseyside-based inspector Anthony Joynes travels to south-east Africa to work with his counterparts in the Malawi capital Lilongwe, rescuing two puppies from an illegal roadside vendor and a stray dog riddled with disease. Back in the UK, Graeme Petty responds to a call about two dogs that have been left outside for a long time and he must make a tough decision when the owner returns home. Plus, the programme catches up with Susie, a feral dog rescued by inspector Vicki McDonald.
