Olive doesn't think that Popeye is romantic enough, so Popeye decides to build a monument dedicated to the both of them: he carves their pictures on a mountain. The ever-troublemaking Bluto also wants to impress Olive, and he starts to interfere with Popeye's work. He decides to carve his picture over Popeye's, and the battle is on. Popeye gets so mad that he throws Bluto into a pool. Before you know it, the whole mountain is gone. Popeye, Olive and Bluto are all truckers out on the road cross-country in their own little convoy (with CB radios and everything). Popeye and Olive Oyl are partners driving the same truck. Bluto thinks that he would do much better with his trucking business if he had Olive as a partner, so he tries to talk her into it. When she refuses, Bluto makes all kinds of difficulties for her while she's on the road, but Popeye comes to her rescue and saves the day.

The cheater Bluto, up to his old tricks, puts a picture of Mare-A-lin, the "Filly Fatale," in his horse's blinders. Bluto's horse takes off like a bird in flight, and Wimpy never gets to say "go." Bluto's horse is disqualified. It's now Olive's turn, and Bluto gets jealous and plays a dirty trick on Olive, and her horse is disqualified. Olive, with nowhere to turn, tells Popeye to do something. Popeye decides to enter Swee'Pea horse.
