Episode 2886 (Tue 3rd April 2001)

Gloria fights for life as the truth hits home for Eric and Ashley. Gloria comes round in hospital to find Ashley at her bedside, and, mistakenly, believes him to have been the one who saved her. When Ashley explains otherwise, Gloria is pleasantly surprised. She wouldn't have thought of Eric as her knight in shining armour, but she sees a side of him that wasn't apparent before. It soon becomes clear that trying to kill herself wasn't the answer and her friends rallied round her. She then realises she should have turned to them in the first place and is very happy to have the chance to accept their offers of help. It feels good to have off-loaded the guilt she was harbouring. Meanwhile, there's gossip in the village as the Sugdens return from Spain and Tricia’s miffed when Cain and Zak arrive bearing unwanted gifts for her and Marlon.

Episode 2887 (Wed 4th April 2001)

Gloria is discharged from hospital following her suicide attempt and stays at the vicarage, much to the surprise of the entire village. Paddy’s stunned to hear from Zoe about Gloria and blames Eric for her despair, but when Eric feels no sympathy and intimates that Paddy had at one point felt like Gloria did after Mandy left him, Paddy, enraged, grabs him and furiously tells Eric that he doesn't know how he felt, but that is not the case. Eric tells a stunned Paddy that he, too, tried to kill himself. Robert finds Richie in the street and demands to know who killed Sarah, but when Richie refuses to divulge who did it, Robert hurls a rock through Richie's car window. Alan questions Jack over his intentions towards Diane, but Jack assures him that he hasn't got any.

Episode 2888 (Thu 5th April 2001)

Ready for a meeting, Richie is furious to find that his car window has been smashed in and calls Angie. He points her in Robert's direction, as he was Richie's only visitor last night. Jack is surprised to find out that Robert visited Richie and he talks to the boys about who smashed the window. Robert owns up, telling Jack that he visited Richie because he wanted to know who killed Sarah. Jack is furtherly devastated when Andy, worried that the trial was going against his father, admits that he told Richie that he started the fire. Meanwhile, Gloria’s surprised by a guilty proposal from Eric and Rodney senses there’s something going on between Diane and Alan.

Episode 2889 (Fri 6th April 2001)

Jack is determined to see that Richie keeps his word about Andy’s part in the fire. He heads round to Richie's for a chat, where Richie assures him that he will not say anything, feeling that spilling the beans about what Andy did will disrespect Sarah's memory. Jack asks Richie for a pint and they head over to The Woolpack together. When they leave when an argument between Viv, Bob, Terry, Carol and Diane breaks out, Richie's horrified when Jack delivers a sinister threat. Meanwhile, Angie heads to the farm off duty to get confirmation of the window smashing from Robert, who offers to pay for the damage; Eric’s disturbed by Gloria’s presence as the gossip gains momentum and Carlos is surprised by a baby picture of Nicola.

Episode 2890 (Mon 9th April 2001)

Diane opens her heart to Jack, but will he want her back? Andrew and Charity disappear for the day, leaving Chris to suspect an affair. A stolen kiss gives Carlos food for thought.

Episode 2891 (Tue 10th April 2001)

It's the day of Diane and Bernice's dinner party. Diane wallows in self-pity after her dumping from Jack. And Bernice suffers from an ultra shock when she catches Nicola and Carlos kissing! Chris is becoming more and more possessive over Charity and when she slips off for the day with Zoe, he's sent on the warpath to find her whereabouts. Jason finds an unordinary friend in Edna while Angie and Cain arrange a rendezvous at the Reynolds' house with the family out for the night. However, the night of passion ends in tatters when Ollie and Len arrive home earlier than expected, and the two are nearly caught in bed together. Seth and Ed find a friend in one another and Seth offers his advice on working at Home Farm.

Episode 2892 (Wed 11th April 2001)

Chris is determined to break Andrew, while there's competition in the air as the village prepares for a quiz night at the Woolpack.

Episode 2893 (Thu 12th April 2001)

Rodney informs Bernice and Ashley that he intends to stay in the village for longer than he had intended after forming several business deals with Chris Tate. Marlon is furious with Tricia when he discovers that she's bidden on a vast majority of items that they don't need at an auction and all have been accepted. With business also lacking, he's lost for words when they are both told that no refunds are available and the total cost is over £300. Len attempts to play matchmaker with Sean and Angie. However, when Len prompts Sean to visit Angie, who they believe to be at home alone, Cain and Angie are nearly caught in the act again. After a muffled row with Sean and throwing him out,

Episode 2894 (Fri 13th April 2001)

Tricia storms out, leaving Marlon anxious he's gone too far. Chris is shocked when Charity turns the tables on his jealousy. Heartbroken, Sean takes comfort from Kathy.

Episode 2895 (Mon 16th April 2001)

Bernice spends the day threatening about names for the baby; she doesn't want anything too common. Business is lacking at Chez Marlon and Tricia isn't the favourite person on everyone's list. In an attempt to help Marlon, she humiliatingly asks for her job back at The Woolpack, whom Bernice refuses. The lads from Tenant House and Ashley put on their running shoes and compete through a jog around the village. Rodney lets slip to Tricia that Diane may be playing both Alan and Jack at the same time. Tricia heatedly confronts Diane about this in front of a crowd in the pub, and is once again humiliated when the whole thing turns out to be a sham. With her life sloping down quicker than the speed of light, Tricia sulks in her own misery.

Episode 2896 (Tue 17th April 2001)

Tricia is reeling with embarrassment after the events of the previous day. Bernice is shocked to find out Carlos has stayed the night at The Vicarage and decides Nicola has outstayed her welcome. She persuades Diane to take Nicola up at the pub. Diane's seedy love life is at the height of gossip throughout the village, and when Viv lets onto Richie that her and Jack may have been at it when Sarah was still alive, he is furious and releases his temper out on Diane in the Woolpack. Alan lets known to Tricia how truly disappointed he is with her recent actions. Diane gives Rodney a piece of her mind and he too has a few insults to trade. Bernice decides that Tricia has truly run her course with her mouth and sets out on a confrontation.

Episode 2897 (Wed 18th April 2001)

Bernice's world comes crashing down around her when, already reeling from her row with Tricia, she goes to the hospital for her first scan - only to be told she has lost the baby. When she and Ashley arrive at the hospital for the scan, they don't even consider the possibility that something could be wrong - they're too busy chatting about how happy they are. But when the nurse performing the scan hurries off to fetch a doctor, Bernice soon realises that something is very wrong, and it's not long before her worst fears are confirmed. Bernice has what is called a missed miscarriage - she probably miscarried a few days earlier, but the baby hasn't come away properly yet, which is why she hadn't realised. At first she thinks they've made a mistake, and she goes into denial. The final seeds of mistrust are sown between Marlon and Tricia when she admits that she had slept with Gavin.

Episode 2898 (Thu 19th April 2001)

Bernice is in complete shock with the news of her miscarriage. Ashley tries to keep a brave face on for the sake of his wife, but there's only little time he can keep up the act. She wants to keep a low-profile, but when the news is broken too everyone, her family rally around her. Tricia confides in Terry about being the unpopular source of the village. He reassures her that she's loved. However, when she makes the mistake of bringing Bernice flowers without knowing of her miscarriage, receiving a scolding from Rodney and being neglected from Marlon for the second time, Tricia walks out on her nearest and dearest. Bob tries to flog a cupid table to Carol through Terry, with the thinking mind of helping Viv, despite her and Carol's brooding conflict. Chris cancels a night with Charity once again and she's bored of playing second best with his business. She decides to spend the night entertaining Scott in Chez Marlon, despite Chris later changing his mind.

Episode 2899 (Fri 20th April 2001)

Marlon’s wakes up to find Tricia is missing. He enquires at the pub, and at the vicarage after he hears about Bernice's miscarriage. His world collapses as he realises that Tricia is really gone. Heartbroken Ashley is concerned about Bernice's state of mind as she hasn't cried at all. Carol is taken in by Terry’s ruse.

Episode 2900 (Mon 23rd April 2001)

Tara returns to Home Farm, leaving Chris and Zoe wondering what her motives are. Meanwhile, Ashley struggles to get through to Bernice.

Episode 2901 (Tue 24th April 2001)

Marlon still waits for news of Tricia and rushes to the door when the postman bring some letters. He rifles through them and finds a small card that tells him that she's safe and well, but requests that he does not try to look for her as she is better off without him, much to his dismay. He heads to The Woolpack to show Alan, who tells him that she has, at least, made the effort to contact him, but advises him to give her time. Meanwhile, Bernice expresses her surprise about Edna's comforting words, while the reality of the miscarriage hits home for Ashley when young mother Sharon brings her daughter round to the vicarage and he breaks down in Bernice's arms. Elsewhere, Jack’s forced to face the reality of selling the farm and Andrew’s caught in the feud between Chris and Tara.

Episode 2902 (Wed 25th April 2001)

Chris’ uncontrollable jealousy overwhelms him and he gets the wrong end of the stick when Zoe mentions that Terry has been spending a lot of time with Charity, especially since Terry keeps getting sent to check up on her. His jealousy goes too far when he accuses Terry of having an affair with Charity. Terry is furious at the accusation and resigns.Jack avoids telling the boys the truth about the farm when he gets dressed up in a suit and tie and lies that he's going off to an auction for farm implements. In the Woolpack, he tells Betty, Seth and Alan that he actually went to the job centre, but had no luck. Meanwhile, there's much speculation about Paddy and Emily.

Episode 2903 (Thu 26th April 2001)

While Jack is working out on the farm, he finds a body lying amongst the hay and is shocked to discover it is his cellmate Harry. Harry stirs and Jack takes him indoors to warm up. Following a hot bath, Harry explains that he was released after serving his sentence while on remand, but his family isn't interested in him, so he thought he could count on Jack for a bed for the night. After acquainting himself with the kids, he tells Jack the real reason why he's there - to give Jack £3000 in used notes. Chris is forced to concede that he made a mistake in accusing Terry of having an affair with Charity, and heads round to persuade Terry to come back to work, even using a bottle of malt whiskey as a peace offering. Betty’s on the trail of some hot gossip and delights in telling Bev about Emily lodging with Paddy.

Episode 2904 (Fri 27th April 2001)

Jack admits to Harry that he doesn't want him hanging around, for fear of him being a constant reminder to the kids of Jack's time in prison, much to Harry's sadness. Harry asks Jack if he's thought about his proposition, but Jack is vehemently certain that he doesn't want the money and offers Harry to stay another night, but Harry feels he needs to move on. That night, after saying goodbye to Harry, Jack goes to bed and is stunned to find that Harry has left the money in Jack's bedside table. Meanwhile, Zoe’s surprised by a birthday treat from Charity and Lisa’s stunned to hear from Betty that Emily and Paddy are an item.

Episode 2905 (Mon 30th April 2001)

The Dingles get a shock when Sam unexpectedly returns. He feels that because he's Zak's only son and heir now that Butch is gone, he's let the family down by abandoning them, but Zak and Lisa feel awkward, knowing that they have something big to tell him. Cain comes back from seeing Angie, and Sam wonders why he's still here, but he's in for a surprise when Cain says, "'Ey up, bruv." Meanwhile, Jack wrestles with temptation regarding the counterfeit money that Harry left for him and he confides in Seth, feeling that the money might be able to keep the farm running for another couple of months. He heads into the barn and retrieves the fake money, just as Angie and a colleague arrive. Elsewhere, Gloria returns to work at the vet's surgery, but starts to feel the strain when she's forced to make a difficult choice.

Episode 2906 (Tue 1st May 2001)

At the factory Zak, Lisa, Sam and Cain are just finishing off their work as Jason enters. Zak talks about the party they are planning for that night but won't allow Eric even though Sam really wants him to go. Lisa tells Zak to stop trying to force Paddy and Emily together. Sam questions what is going on and Jason says he thinks they would not make a good couple. Lisa asks Cain to help but he says that he is busy; he will be spending the morning in bed with Angie. The Dingles laugh complimenting him on being so funny. In the Reynolds' kitchen, Ollie teases Marc about being bored as he has no school to go to. Len enters the kitchen following Angie, he is saying that he wants to see Lady Tara but Angie doesn't appreciate it when he asks if she is really that good looking

Episode 2907 (Wed 2nd May 2001)

Eric continues to undermine the Dingles' attempts to finish the barn on time so that they incur penalties. He heads round to the homestead, picks up their tools and puts them in his car. Inside the house, the Dingles are suffering from a hangover. Jason arrives and reminds them that 5pm is the deadline. When they head outside to continue on with the work, Zak, Lisa and Jason realise their tools have been stolen. The building inspector comes round and proclaims that the building is up to standards and will overlook the drains since Eric is a county councillor, but Eric insists he must check the drains. Eric tells the Dingles that they will not get paid since they won't have finished the work by the end of the day. Meanwhile, Emily moves out of Paddy and Jason's to lodge with the Sugdens and Marc’s surprised by an unexpected offer he can’t refuse.

Episode 2908 (Thu 3rd May 2001)

Jason and Lisa talk over a cup of tea about the building regulations. Zak enters the house and yells for Cain. Sam wants to go and help Cain but Zak tells him to feed the pigs. Emily comes out of the Sugdens and Jack calls to her to help hitch the trailer. Emily is miles away, thinking about her family. Zak tells Cain to treat Sam a bit better. Cain sees Sam and goes to hit him. Zak splits them up and says Sam can go along too. Gloria is cleaning in Eric's house. They chat about Michael and the little things that will impress him. Zak, Cain and Sam go to Eric's house and ask Gloria if they can see him. Gloria claims he is not at home. Ed is talking to Jason in the Woolpack. The Dingles arrive. They are still disgruntled about Eric. Zak tells Sam he has to keep a watch on Eric's house.

Episode 2909 (Fri 4th May 2001)

Lisa arrives at the barn and Zak tells her they will see the money. Eric arrives and says he hasn't got the money. Cain starts the chain saw. Eric says he was only joking and hands the money to Lisa. Eric tells them to drop all his souvenirs off tomorrow morning. Lisa and Zak say they will go for a drink. Cain sees Angie and says he will catch them up later. Ollie and Donna get off the bus and chat together. Donna tells Ollie she slept with Marc. Ollie laughs. Donna asks Ollie what it was like the first time for her. Ollie says it was fine. Cain sees Angie putting some rubbish out, they kiss. Len calls out to Angie and asks her if she wants a cup of tea. Cain leaves. Eric returns home; he is cross about the Dingles. Gloria is cooking supper.

Episode 2910 (Mon 7th May 2001)

Zak is lamenting about selling the barn to Eric and says he cannot bear having to look at it every time he leaves the house. Lisa reminds him that he was pleased when he sold it for £2000 plus the payment for all the work and labour they did on it. Eric arrives with Gloria to show her around the factory. Gloria comments on how lovely it is. Zak walks up to them draws a line in the dirt with his foot and declares the land as "Dingle land" saying that Eric is not allowed to step over this line. Zak exits followed by Lisa. Cain walks up to Sam and wants to know if he was discussing Angie. Cain threatens him to keep quiet. Gloria and Eric are in the factory

Episode 2911 (Tue 8th May 2001)

Marc and Donna get up close and personal at the Reynolds' house. The pair are caught red-handed - and in their dressing gowns - by Viv and a huge showdown begins, leaving Marc with the overriding feeling that going out with Donna was becoming more trouble than it was worth. Elsewhere, Cain has big ideas about their relationship, but Angie’s getting cold feet and Jack struggles to resist the temptations of hard cash.

Episode 2912/2913 (Thu 10th May 2001)

Angie is getting ready at the B&B. Cain wants her to get back into bed but she refuses. At breakfast at the Reynolds', Len says that he saw Viv last night and she mentioned that Donna and Marc had been in her house alone. Marc is elusive. Meanwhile, Viv is telling Donna off at breakfast about spending time with Marc. Donna arrives at the Reynolds house and listens to Marc and Jonny talking about her and Bev. Jonny jumps to the conclusion that Marc and Bev are together. Andy gives Jack £20 for the bills, they claim they have saved up the pocket money which Kathy gave them whilst he was in prison. Virginia gets cross with Andrew for staring at Charity. Donna is sitting on a bench in the village and watches Bev go into the Woolpack. Donna storms into the Woolpack and yells at Bev, asking her what is going on with her and Marc. Everyone in the Woolpack is listening as Donna shouts that Bev told Marc to dump her and then she had sex with him.

Episode 2914 (Fri 11th May 2001)

Robert finds Andy with more cigarettes from Cain but refuses to help sell them. Robert then stumbles across Jack's hidden cash stash in the barn and assumes it is Andy's. Andy is shocked when Robert questions him about his find and takes the money off him, thinking it must be Cain's. Cain can't believe his luck when Andy hands the money over to him. Bev is stunned to learn that Donna thinks she has been having a sexual liaison with Marc and heads round to talk to her and tell her that that is not the case. She heads over to the Reynolds' to get an explanation from Marc and is surprised when she comes under fire from Angie. Elsewhere, Charity and Scott spend a cosy evening together and the reality of Bernice's plight hits home and she breaks down in Rodney's arms.

Episode 2915 (Mon 14th May 2001)

With his financial problems mounting, Jack comes under increasing pressure to use the money that Harry had given him. But unbeknown to him, the decision has been taken out of his hands, thanks to his children. Faced with expensive repairs on his tractor, Jack decides to dip in to Harry's money. But he is shocked to discover that the cash had gone missing and he immediately suspects Andy. Jack confronts him and was mortified to hear that Andy had given it to Cain. Jack approaches Cain, but things begin to turn nasty when he refuses to return the money. Jack is forced to back down when Cain reveals that he knew that Andy was responsible for starting the barn fire that killed Sarah. Meanwhile, all is not as it seems with Charity and her party plans and Bev’s dilemma deepens as Viv takes official action.

Episode 2916 (Tue 15th May 2001)

Jack reads Andy the riot act after he gave Cain the counterfeit money. Jack's close to breaking as he wrestles to hide the truth from Diane. Andy goes to see Cain to ask for the money back, but is dismayed to find out that he spent it. Meanwhile, Chloe’s stunned when Charity admits she's having an affair - she refuses to reveal who, but insists she will continue to see Chris at the same time. Bev turns her anger on an unsuspecting Paddy and Bernice is determined to get her life back on track and go back to work following the miscarriage.

Episode 2917 (Wed 16th May 2001)

Chris' suspicions reached an all-time high, and he grills Chloe for a second time in a bid to discover Charity's lover, but is enquiring bears no fruit. As the day progresses, he is rude to Andrew, openly jealous of Rodney and untrusting of Terry, Marlon, Sean and Scott. Charity flaunts herself in a new dress and as she leans down to give him a kiss, he forcefully grabs her arm and warns her never to cross him. Meanwhile, Marlon asks Alan if he's heard anything about Tricia, but Alan's heard nothing. Marlon suggests going down to London to look for her, but then decides against it due to having no contacts there. Alan, however, suggests to Diane to head down there instead. Elsewhere, news of Viv’s birthday gets out and Bernice takes her frustration and sadness over the miscarriage out on Ashley.

Episode 2918 (Thu 17th May 2001)

It's the day of the big party at Home Farm and Chris is plotting to use the occasion to discover once and for all who Charity is seeing behind his back. All six supects - Sean, Terry, Rodney, Marlon, Scott and Andrew - are there and Chris plans on trying to get the better of each and everyone of them until he can pinpoint Charity's lover. Zak and Cain have their own idea of how to make the party go with a bang. They menacingly decide to visit Home Farm in a bid to wreak vengeance on the Tates for Butch's death but are forced to get physical sooner than they had planned when they are discovered breaking in. Chris is relieved when Charity shows up but temperatures start to rise when she gets close to Scott and arranges a secret rendezvous with Rodney. As the party goes with a swing, Tara gets wind that Charity is planning to meet Rodney and tips off Chris. Chris hides in the shadows, waiting for Charity to show up - unaware she is in the drawing room with her lover all along - Zoe!

Episode 2919 (Fri 18th May 2001)

Chris is becoming increasingly suspicious that Charity is having an affair. After accusing Andrew of being the secret man, he demands answers from Marlon on why Charity was with Rodney the previous night. He later confides in Zoe that he has feelings for Charity. Ashley is called out by the bishop to replace the Vicar of Weatherby at a conference about the future of agriculture. However, the replacement means leaving home for the week and he worries about leaving Bernice. She prompts him to go. Marlon believes that his business is truly hanging by a thread after Kathy's resignment and Chris's offering partnership. Bridget is secretly disappointed when Andrew wants to keep their 'thing' a secret from the village.

Episode 2920 (Tue 22nd May 2001) (Part 1)

It's the opening night of the B&B and Carol is determined to make everything run smoothly. She takes amusement out of humiliating Viv with her snide kindness, but lays the pressure on Terry. Viv spends her birthday swirling in misery and drowning her sorrows. With Carol at the helm of the highlight throughout the village, she decides that enough is enough. She gatecrashes the B&B's opening ceremony, furiously discovers her furniture, and gives Carol what for before publicly humiliating her by throwing a glass of wine in the direction of her face. Charity tells Chloe that Zoe is the mystery person. Eric causes a catastrophe outside the factory when he parks his car in the driveway, leaving the Dingles unable to get out. In act of revenge, both Zak and Cain both clamp his car and demand £50 to revert their doings. Meanwhile, Tricia is still nowhere to be found and Chez Marlon is slowly but shortly disappearing from the radar.

Episode 2921 (Tue 22nd May 2001) (Part 2)

Carol is not happy with the furniture that was once in the hands of Viv. Despite Terry trying to rationalise, she throws the items out. And when word gets round to Viv, Viv plots her ultimate revenge by performing a peace offering, before planting prawns in one of the curtains of the restaurant. Eric gives Sam the job of designing a sign outside the factory as a statement for a parking space for him. However, when the Dingles get word of this, they are far from pleased. Charity tries reasoning with Chris on the pain he is causing for Marlon. Zak and Cain approach them and throw threats their way, and later Chris tries to get Charity to confess her love for him. Terry begins to become impatient with Carol when she flirts with the customers, and when she tells one of Terry's mates that her and Terry aren't a partnership, he walks out on her.

Episode 2922 (Wed 23rd May 2001)

The Dingles are livid when they receive a visit from a D.S.S. officer informing them that Zak is no longer eligible for employment benefits. Convinced that someone in the village has informed on him, Zak resolves to track down the culprit and make them pay. The finger of suspicion points firmly at Eric. Eric is disturbed when Sam tells him that Zak is convinced that he is responsible for grassing them up to the authorities. Sam demands that he gives him a proper job or he will help his father get his revenge on him. Zak approaches Charity and questions her about being visited by a D.S.S. officer. She pleads her innocence and he is stunned when she told him that Cain has already betrayed him by sitting on a pile of cash that he stole from her. Zak returns home and confronts Cain, who tries to convince his father that Charity is lying. But Zak finds the cash. Elsewhere, Bernice moves into the pub and closer to Carlos, while Carol faces the harsh reality of being a landlady.

Episode 2923 (Thu 24th May 2001)

Zak blames Charity for causing the family rift. Charity insists Cain is to blame and tells him again about the money he stole from her. Cain is furious with Sam for revealing the location of his money, but Sam is spared a beating when he threatens to reveal all about his affair with Angie. The family find it hard to believe the hardship they endured while Cain was in possession of a lot of money. Zak tells him to take some time and consider his place in the family. Later, Cain heads round to Charity's house and after an argument he slaps her across the face. Carol and Viv are at it again much to the dismay of Terry and Bob. And Carol sinks to the lowest of the low when she vindictively revealed that Viv is really 45 and not 39 as she says, but Bob reveals he knew Viv's age all along.

Episode 2924 (Fri 25th May 2001)

Bernice is mortified to hear that Nicola is intending on asking Carlos to move in with her, and she is not the only one who is less than happy about the idea, Carlos himself is less than thrilled by Nicola's plans, but agrees to give it some thought. Nicola tells Bernice that her dream is to be in a relationship like her and Ashley. Unable to live with the lie any longer, Bernice admits that life with Ashley is not as rosy as she hoped it would be. Chris is shocked to see that Charity has been beaten up. On learning that her injuries were caused by a Dingle, Chris confronts Zak and demands to know why he attacked Charity. Zak is confused as to what he is on about, but puts two and two together and realises that it must have been Cain. Cain collars Sam and demands to know what he intends to do with the knowledge that he is having an affair with Angie. And Marlon considers enlisting a private investigator to help track down Tricia.

Episode 2925 (Tue 29th May 2001) (Part 1)

The villagers get ready for the fun run. Robert wants answers from Andy on why Jack's behaving strangely. Betty and Edna go toe-to-toe on the cake stall. Kathy is not happy with Marlon for leaving the restaurant to look for Tricia without consulting her first, she summons Chloe to open up with her, but the stock is lacking. Angie notices Charity's black-eye and inquests her on who the culprit was. Charity keeps her guard and Angie believes it's Cain. When confronting him, he reassures her it wasn't. Seth and Len take bets for the race, everyone has faith in Carlos. Len plays a trick on Edna and puts a tassel on the back of her red hat, she's furious! The fun run goes ahead and Carlos finishes first on the finishing line.

Episode 2926 (Tue 29th May 2001) (Part 2)

In the vicarage kitchen, Ashley and Bernice are discussing the fun run. Ashley apologises about the photo with the baby. The doorbell rings; it is Carlos bringing the sponsorship money. Ashley offers Carlos coffee and then leaves. At the Dingles, Zak enters moaning about the DSS to Cain. Zak asks Cain what he is doing. In the vicarage kitchen, Carlos and Bernice discuss the kiss. Bernice denies the kiss means anything and wants to forget it. At Keepers Cottage, Seth is looking on the Internet for mobile phone companies. Edna arrives. Seth apologises for the cake. Edna tells them they have the morning off and leaves smiling mischievously. In the Woolpack, Nicola asks if Bernice is OK.

Episode 2927 (Wed 30th May 2001)

Robert finally snaps and all the pent-up emotion he's been bottling comes pouring out. He feels he owes nothing to the farm that has brought so much misery into his life. He rounds on Andy saying that he's convinced his dad did kill Sarah. The two start to fight and suddenly Andy blurts out the truth. Robert is speechless. Meanwhile, Alan plans a meal for two for him and Diane, Bernice and Carlos desperately try to avoid temptation and Charity gives Chris her undivided attention much to Zoe’s dismay.

Episode 2928 (Thu 31st May 2001)

Robert is horrified by Andy's admission that he was responsible for starting the fire that killed his mother. Unable to come to terms with the revelation, he flees the house desperate to get as far away from his adopted brother as possible. Seeing his son's desperate escape, Jack confronts Andy and is furious to discover why Robert is so upset. Fearing for Robert's state of mind, Jack begins a desperate search for him. He enlists Richie's help, but Alan is less than happy when Jack interrupted his romantic meal with Diane and asks them to look after Victoria while he continues his search. As afternoon turns into evening, Jack finally discovers where Robert has been hiding. He tries to persuade him to return home, but Robert told him that he will not live in the same house as Andy. Jack suggested that he could arrange for him to stay with Annie and Amos in Spain for a while.

Episode 2929 (Fri 1st June 2001)

The Sugden household is anything but a happy place. Jack and Andy struggle to control their anger, each blaming the other for Robert leaving. With the tension rapidly growing, a blazing row develops and Andy storms out, leaving Jack dismayed at the break up of his family. On her way to visit Jack, Diane encounters an upset Andy. Concerned for his well being she manages to persuade him to return home. Diane asked Jack why Andy was so upset. Overcome by emotion he breaks down and admits to Diane that Andy was the one responsible for starting the barn fire, which killed Sarah. Cain tells Angie that he is going to have to go away on business for a while. He is evasive when she questions him as to whether his business is legal. Bernice and Carlos organise a secret rendezvous, and admit that they are unable to stop their affair.

Episode 2930 (Mon 4th June 2001)

Diane is facing a crisis as her feelings for Jack grow stronger. She begins to realise that Alan may not be the man for her after all. She confides in Bernice, but she is unable to offer any solutions. Later, Bernice is put in an uncomfortable position when Alan tells her that he is concerned about his relationship with Diane. Diane visits Jack in the hope that they might be able to talk about their feelings for each other, but she is disappointed when he failed to raise the subject. Aware that things can’t go on the way they are, she leaves Alan devastated when she admits that that their relationship is a lie and that she is in love with Jack.

Episode 2931 (Tue 5th June 2001)

Relations between Diane and Alan are at an all-time low, following her admission that she's in love with Jack. But while Diane desperately tries to make amends, Alan refuses to forgive her for her betrayal. Diane tells him that she hopes they can remain friends. He demands to know if she had been seeing Jack without his knowledge, and he is infuriated by her response. He is further incensed when he discovers that Bernice had been aware of her mother's feelings for Jack all the time. Diane visits Jack and tells him that she has finished with Alan and he is knocked for six when she admits that she is in love with him. Zoe gives Charity hell for failing to show for their rendezvous. She explodes in fury when Zoe suggests that she behaves as if Chris owns her. Kathy is relieved when Rodney agrees to buy Chris's shares in Chez Marlon.

Episode 2932 (Wed 6th June 2001)

With her relationship with Jack finally on track, everything should be rosy for Diane, and Rodney takes great pleasure in winding her up about her complicated love life, while Nicola suggests that she should patch things up with Alan before it is too late. Meanwhile, Alan tells Terry that it is time he starts thinking about the future instead of clinging to the past, and he has decided to move out of the Woolpack. Charity and Zoe decide to spend the day together, but they end up wishing that they hadn’t when Paddy bumps into them at an inopportune moment. When Zoe returns to the vets, Paddy tells her that she is playing a very dangerous game, one which could cause problems for a lot of people. It is Tricia’s birthday and Marlon is upset when Jason shows his face in his restaurant. A heated exchange ensues in which Marlon blames him for Tricia running away. But Marlon is stunned when Rodney admits that he had his own argument with her on the day she left.

Episode 2933 (Thu 7th June 2001)

Charity tells Zoe she is petrified of Chris finding out about the affair. She can't understand why Zoe would let her business partner Paddy in on the secret and tries to laugh off her feelings saying she is only looking for a bit of excitement. But she is left with food for thought when Zoe tells her straight that it's inevitable Chris will eventually find out. Gloria talks Eric into firing Seth from his factory for being too slow, and sends out a clear message to the rest of the workforce. Bob offers to take Viv on a belated honeymoon while Diane is furious to discover her ex, Rodney, has bought into Chez Marlon and will now be in direct competition with the Woolpack.

Episode 2934 (Fri 8th June 2001)

Rodney shoots Diane down when she challenges him about his latest venture. He explains there won't really be any competition between Chez Marlon and the Woolpack because he intends to keep it upmarket. Gloria's managerial qualities at the factory ignite a flame in Eric's heart. And after another stressful day of grumbles. moans and strikes, the two retire home and share a long over due kiss. Viv and Carol's rivalry have Bob in a spin and he ends up promising a far more expensive honeymoon than he can possibly afford. Charity admits to Chloe she's got herself into a dangerous situation with the Tates, but Zoe plays on her uneasiness.

Episode 2935 (Mon 11th June 2001)

Gloria discovers it is Eric’s 56th birthday and decides to mark the occasion with a special meal at Chez Marlon. But the planned celebration is soured when Gloria visits the pawnshop to buy a present and finds out that Eric ripped her off over the necklace that drove her to a suicide attempt. Viv becomes suspicious of Bob when Roger Crosby, an old salesman friend of his arrives and Bob is less than eager to have him discuss his past in front of his wife. Bernice and Carlos continue to play dangerously and arrange a secret liaison at the vicarage while Ashley is away. Elsewhere, Charity turns down a dinner with Chris in favour of Zoe, while Carol enlists some help to find the source of a foul smell in the B&B.

Episode 2936 (Tue 12th June 2001)

Viv’s suspicions are aroused when Bob gets angry and refuses to talk about Roger and his past. When she realises that he has left his briefcase behind, Viv can’t resist the temptation to snoop around inside and makes a shocking discovery. There is an envelope addressed to Mr and Mrs Hope in Chesterfield. Viv confides in Carol about her findings and Carol insists that she must confront Bob and face the truth. Rodney invites his family for a meal at Chez Marlon. They are less than eager to accept but reluctantly agree to attend. Carlos is put out over dinner when Ashley mentions that he and Bernice have been invited to Sorrento. Bernice is surprised when Nicola lets slip that she has asked Carlos to move in with her. Meanwhile, Gloria continues to be frosty with Eric and he has to pull out all the stops to try and win her over.

Episode 2937 (Wed 13th June 2001)

Viv and Carol head for Chesterfield convinced that Bob has another wife on the go. As they arrive Viv is left gobsmacked to see Bob kissing a young woman with two children. The plot thickens when they follow him to a second and third rendezvous. First, he visits the lady owner of a B&B, then he meets yet another woman with more children. Viv is suitably furious and confronts Bob in a rage, demanding an explanation, but in the end it turns out that Bob wasn't seeing another woman, he was visiting his sister-in-law and his kids from his previous marriages. Diane overhears a conversation between Bernice and Carlos and is disturbed by its tone. She becomes increasingly suspicious as she watches them closely together. Eric convinces Gloria to return to the factory and gave her a promotion. He later sacks Edna.

Episode 2938 (Thu 14th June 2001)

Diane is becoming increasingly convinced that something is happening between Bernice and Carlos. She sets about discreetly quizzing Bernice and Ashley about their homelife in a bid to uncover the truth. Unaware that Diane is hot on their trail, Bernice and Carlos meet at the vicarage but their passion is soon rudely interrupted as Diane walks into the bedroom. Viv and Bob are dealing with the aftermath of Bob's secret being discovered. Viv has seemingly forgiven him and Donna is glad that he is to stay. Carol can’t believe that Viv has rolled over and forgiven Bob and she doesn’t hold back when telling Viv what she thinks of her. Viv hits back by revealing she planted the prawns in the B&B. Marc’s driving test date has come through and he approaches his dad for extra lessons.

Episode 2939 (Fri 15th June 2001)

Diane is disgusted by Bernice and Carlos and makes her displeasure known to her daughter. Others are unaware of the trouble that was brewing and happily sings the praises of Bernice, leaving her feeling more than a little uncomfortable. Bernice tries to make Diane understand that she doesn’t want to hurt Ashley but can’t stop seeing Carlos. Diane advises her to get away for a while to try and sort out her feelings, suggesting that she leave for Sorrento without Ashley. Sean spends some time with Ollie and Marc. Arriving home, Angie invites him to go out for a meal with them. Over dinner they reminisce about the good old days. Viv is triumphant about the prawn trick she played on Carol, while Terry and Bob are desperate for the two women to put their differences behind them. Sam wins the right to be foreman at the factory but Eric pushes for the job to go to Cynthia instead.

Episode 2940 (Mon 18th June 2001)

Cain and Angie arrange a secret liaison, but she is forced to stand him up when Ollie returns home upset, after her exams went badly. Cain is furious when Angie fails to show. On his way home, he is stopped by the police and questioned about a robbery. Intent on getting his own back, he tells the police officer that he has an alibi; he was with Angie. Angie is shocked when there was a knock at the door and she finds Cain and a police officer standing before her. Angie lies and tells the police that she was with Cain earlier in the day. With her daughter's betrayal weighing heavily on her mind, Diane turns to Jack for advice. She tells him that she intends to confront Carlos about his affair with Bernice, and Jack warns her to be careful about interfering. Diane finds Carlos in the Woolpack and he is left devastated when she makes it clear that his affair with her daughter must end. Andy regrets getting involved with Cain when he forces him to hide some contraband cigarettes.

Cain is still reeling after being dumped by Angie and he is desperate for a second chance. He begs her to explain her reasons and she agrees to take a drive with him and talk things over. When Angie reiterates that things are over, Cain goes wild with rage and begins to drive like a man possessed. He loses control of the car and it crashes. Angie escapes on foot with Cain in hot pursuit, determined that if he can't have Angie - nobody can. Lisa is concerned over Zak's mood. She is further worried when he reappears after having a bath and storms out of the house a worried man. Diane is struggling behind the bar and arranges for a temporary barmaid to lighten the load. Louise the barmaid proves to be a big hit with the menfolk of Emmerdale, with her stunning looks and memory for names. Her arrival makes Nicola feel put out. Charity persuades Chris to give her a night to herself, although it's really to be with Zoe. Chris tells Richie he can meet with a major client on his own.

Episode 2943 (Thu 21st June 2001)

Angie is bewildered by Cain’s reaction to her ending their affair. Fearing for her family's safety, she races back to her home. Lisa is concerned when she spots Angie desperately trying to get into her house and enquires if she can do anything to help. She is stunned when, in a moment of weakness, Angie confides that she has been having an affair with Cain. Lisa is worried by the situation, but Angie assures her that she could handle Cain on her own. She is left regretting her words when she retires to bed and discovers Cain waiting for her. She is terrified when he menacingly warns her that he can get to her whenever he wants.

Episode 2944 (Fri 22nd June 2001)

Angie’s nerves are in tatters and with Cain refusing to give up the fight, things start to get a whole lot worse. If his constant presence is not enough, a series of malicious phone calls threaten to throw her over the edge. After retiring to bed, a sudden noise throws her into a panic, and she decides to investigate. But she is left looking for an excuse for her behaviour when she narrowly misses Len with a cricket bat. Lisa is frustrated when she tries to tell Zak about Cain menacing Angie, but he storms out of the house before she could tell him. Her concerns grow when he returns home and he rejects her attempts to get close to him. Carol is well cheesed off when Terry suggests that Cynthia and her family could stay at the B&B.

Episode 2945 (Mon 25th June 2001)

Zak is a troubled man after discovering a lump while taking a bath. After drowning his sorrows he is too hungover to look after Belle and an unimpressed Lisa is forced to take her to work. Marlon is concerned when Zak turns up at Chez Marlon the worse for wear but eventually coaxes the truth out of him. Angie is still on edge and confides in Lisa that she is very scared of Cain. Her fears are confirmed when she arrives home to discover that Cain has befriended Len and is mowing her lawn. Carol isn't impressed when Cynthia and her son Danny arrive to stay at the B&B with their dog in tow. Carol put Viv’s nose out of joint by deciding to enter the Naughty Nylons competition.

Episode 2946 (Tue 26th June 2001)

Lisa is becoming increasingly concerned about Zak's behaviour but he refuses to discuss his problem with her and blocks her out. She tries to make things right between them by arranging a special evening for them together. But her plan backfires and Zak humiliates her in front of a packed Woolpack. Marlon tells Zak that he must see a doctor or he will be forced to tell Lisa what is happening. There is friction at the B&B as Carol becomes convinced that she has trouble on her hands with the Daggerts. Angie is on tenterhooks as Cain continues to play mind games with her. She confronts him after receiving an anonymous phone-call but he turns the tables on her and claims that it is she who is doing the harassing. Richie is put out when Chris offers him a lowly pay rise and Chloe suggests he should set up his own business.

Episode 2947 (Wed 27th June 2001)

Zak is finding it difficult to cope with all of the problems he is facing and thanks to his inability to tell Lisa about his health fears, things are set to get even worse. At the Dingles, Cain uses Zak's absence to assert his own control over the household. Lisa is heartbroken when he tells her not to make tea for Zak, as he won’t be coming home. Marlon tries to convince Zak to share his problems with Lisa. Irritated by Marlon's interference, Zak leaves the Woolpack, and with nowhere else to go, decides to head home. He arrives and tries to apologise to Lisa through a locked door. Hopeful of reconciliation, she opens the door, but is stunned to find that Zak has suddenly changed his mind.

Episode 2948 (Thu 28th June 2001)

The Daggert's dog fails to show, and Danny is desperate to find out what has happened to him. Carol hears Jack talking about the dog that he shot, and realises that he must be talking about Naz. She assures him that she will tell Danny the bad news. She blurts it out remorselessly. Danny rushes in to the vets and is distraught to hear that Paddy has had to put Naz down. He confronts Jack in The Woolpack, only to hear there was no choice due to the dog having a taste of blood. He swears the matter isn't over and flees. Zak tells Marlon that he thinks that Lisa is probably better off without him.

Episode 2949 (Fri 29th June 2001)

After all their recent problems, things were destined to get even worse for the Daggerts. When Angie investigates the break in at the vets, Danny becomes number one suspect. His reputation is dealt a further blow when Rodney’s wallet goes missing. At the B&B, Carol demands that the Daggerts leave and fed up by her treatment, they decided to pack their bags. Gloria and Edna try to convince Ashley that the Daggerts are responsible for the recent crime wave. Upset by their attitude, Ashley offers to let them stay at the vicarage. Richie admits to Scott that he has no intention of telling Chris that he is leaving Emmerdale to set up his own business.

Episode 2950 (Mon 2nd July 2001)

Bernice arrives back from holiday determined to get her marriage back on track. She's delighted her mum is talking to her and thankful Carlos was out of the way on a picnic with Nicola. And when she discovers the Daggerts at the vicarage and hears the passion in Ashley's voice as he explains why they are there, she recognises again the qualities that made her fall for him. Jason was in hot water when it was revealed his friend Greg is the culprit in the burglary at the vets. Zoe demands he pack his bags and moves out of her property. Meanwhile, Cynthia demands an apology on behalf of her son Danny.

Episode 2951 (Tue 3rd July 2001)

Bernice is facing a huge test when Diane is forced to leave her and Carlos alone. There is high tension and a sense that both are deliberately hiding their feelings. As if Bernice's life wasn't complicated enough, she now has to deal with the fact that her father Rodney is going out with Louise, the barmaid employed to help out while she was away. She turns to Diane but her mum is contemptuous of her former husband's antics. Jack upsets Diane by taking her wig off as a joke and Lisa becomes increasingly frustrated by her inability to stand up to Cain's bullying. Ben McCarthy tells Danny that he has a £10 bet with Jonny Bradley that he can bed Ollie. And while Chloe works out a deal for Jason to move in with Scott, Jack gave Diane moral support over her daughter's reckless affair.

Episode 2952 (Wed 4th July 2001)

Bernice and Carlos are thrown together in an awkward situation when they were forced to dance at the Woolpack theme night. Zak's irrational behaviour continues when he loses his temper in the Woolpack and then leaves, embarrassed. Diane ditches her wig, dyes her hair blond and comes clean about her affair with Jack. Spurned lover Cain seems set on destroying the Reynolds family when he turns his attentions from terrorising Angie to making a play for her teenage daughter, Ollie. During a game of truth or dare with her friends, Ollie gets upset when Ben asks her if she was still a virgin. A shocked Ollie runs out of the house and straight into Cain who is lurking outside. Cain wins Ollie's confidence by giving her some advice and soon there's a distinctly flirtatious atmosphere between the pair.

Episode 2953 (Thu 5th July 2001)

Sam sets out to find his father after learning from Marlon of his troubles. And while Sam isn't always the sharpest tool in the box he suddenly realises why Zak has allowed Cain to virtually do as he pleases recently. After much searching he finds Zak in the church and moved his father to seek medical advice with his directness. Meanwhile, Bernice and Carlos give way to temptation and share a passionate kiss, then lies to her mother and says she's managing to resist Carlos, Ollie is delighted when Cain takes her on a picnic and continues his flirtation with her and Bob takes some photos of Viv to enter into the Miss Naughty Nylons competition.

Episode 2954 (Fri 6th July 2001)

Zak, encouraged by his son Sam and nephew Marlon finally sees his doctor about the lump he's discovered. He is congratulated by the doctor for being prompt in having it checked but is told he must visit hospital for tests to determine exactly what is wrong. Eric jumps at the chance of hiring Ollie at the tat factory low wages and long hours. Meanwhile, Cain continues to flirt with her. Bernice is forced to hide her feelings when Nicola announces she'll be going on holiday with Carlos. And Terry and Bob hope and pray the photographic competition will not lead to another rift between their respective partners.

Episode 2955 (Mon 9th July 2001)

Jason is on his way to a job when he sees Latisha Daggert in labour on the side of the road while walking to village. Ollie wears a flashy dress and heels to work, annoying Gloria, pleasing Cain, and making the other women speculate about her love life. Angie embarrasses her by bringing her lunch to work. Ashley persuades Bernice to hire Danny at the pub, while Carol grows annoyed by Terry's closeness with the Daggert family. Sam struggles with keeping Zak's cancer fear a secret, while Zak nearly talks to Lisa until he overhears her saying she's better off without a man. Tara gets a call about her nephew, Julian, and agrees to let him stay with her. Gloria tells Eric she will use her late husband's business contacts to help him. Unable to get Latisha to hospital in time, Jason delivers her baby son in the back of his van.

Episode 2957 (Wed 11th July 2001)

Julian arrives in the village. Tara asks Andrew to take him on at the stables; when Andrew refuses, she secretly agrees to pay his wages. Julian turns up his nose at the thought of mucking. Cynthia realises she, Danny, Latisha and Kirk are underfoot with Ashley and Bernice, so she asks her family to look for a possible place to live. Ashley praises Bernice for her patience; she asks him to please stop. Danny asks Ollie about the empty Jacob's Fold. Cain sees them together and puts on a show of jealousy, delighting Ollie. Gloria and Eric are thrilled to see Glynis' order, although Gloria warns Eric of Cynthia missing work. After Cynthia gives Bernice and Ashley thank you gifts, the Daggerts head for their new home.

Episode 2958 (Thu 12th July 2001)

Cynthia is on the warpath - determined to find out who shopped them to the police for squatting. After first accusing Edna, Cynthia discovers that Carol was responsible and the two come to blows. Terry is outraged and stands firmly behind Cynthia. There is more trouble in store for Terry when Gordon - Carol's ex - arrives and asks for a room at the B&B. His reason for being there isn't obvious but Terry is less than impressed when he discovers who he is. Zak fakes a visit to the doctor's and tells Marlon he has been given the okay. Marlon quickly sees through Zak and Seth tells him he must make him see sense quickly. Charity starts work at the haulage yard but Sean is less than impressed to see her there. Tara's nephew Julian causes a smash at Oakwell when he breaks an expensive ornament while playing football with Danny.

Episode 2959 (Fri 13th July 2001)

Terry is furious to discover that Gordon is Carol's ex-husband. Convinced that he is trying to win Carol back, Terry tells her that he wants Gordon gone by the time he returns from work. Carol is surprised when Gordon admits that he is in trouble with the taxman and the police. He asks her if he can borrow £10,000 so that he can escape abroad and she is taken aback when he suggests that she could join him. Terry is furious to hear of their plans, and he is further enraged when Alan suggests that he could manage the B&B for her. Betty gives Zak a peace of her mind over his behaviour as a guest in her home. Furious at her outburst, Seth confides to her that Zak has found a lump on his testicle.

Episode 2960 (Mon 16th July 2001)

Zak is disappointed when Marlon, Seth and Sam arrange to go fishing without him, but little does he know that it is all a carefully arranged charade for his benefit. He is pleased when they agree to let him accompany them on their trip, but his excitement turns to panic when they arrive at the hospital and he learns that an appointment has been made for him to see an urologist. Lisa is horrified when Betty reveals why Zak has been acting so strangely and rushes off to see her husband. With their relationship back on track, Lisa and Zak await the results of the ultrasound. They are terrified when the doctor reveals that the news is not good - the lump is likely to be cancer, and they will need to operate. Zoe is annoyed when Charity turns down her invitation to spend the evening with her, in favour of going out to dinner with Chris. Latisha enlists Terry's help to persuade Alan to employ her at the B&B.

Episode 2961 (Tue 17th July 2001)

Zak tries to conceal his fear about his operation. Cain is angry to discover that he was the last person to know about his father's illness. Zak is left dejected when he fails to offer any sympathy and simply asks him if the condition is hereditary. Lisa confides to Angie that she cannot understand why he couldn't tell her about his health fears. Seth tries to take Zak's mind off his problems and suggests that they could place a bet on the horses. But even a £500 win fails to pull him from his depression. Charity is stunned to hear that Zak may have cancer and tries to repair her relationship with her uncle, much to Cain's fury.

Episode 2962 (Wed 18th July 2001)

It's the day of Zak's operation and the Dingles rally round him to offer support. Sam is touched when Zak tells him that if it wasn't for him he would still be trying to ignore the lump. At the hospital, the doctor tries to allay his fears by telling him that it is a simple operation, but Zak is less than convinced. When he comes round from the operation, Zak is relieved when the doctor tells him that his chances are good. Charity becomes increasingly irritated by Zoe's surprise visits to see her at work. Feeling smothered, Charity sees a way of escaping Zoe's possessiveness when Chris agrees to take her away on holiday. Andy gets himself in hot water when he is caught selling cigarettes in school. But the prospect of detention becomes more pleasant when he discovers that Katie Addyman will be joining him. And Ollie gets defensive when Angie quizzes her about her boyfriend and suggests that she could bring him round for tea.

Episode 2963 (Thu 19th July 2001)

Cain, Lisa and Sam wait for word on when to pick Zak up from hospital. Cain makes a jibe about Zak's masculinity, to which Lisa responds he won't be sitting at the head of the family table for much longer. Tara visits Chez Marlon with her mischievous nephew Julian - he has to stay by her side due to the trouble he's caused. She asks Rodney about using the restaurant as a location for an upcoming magazine shoot; she plans to throw a charity event. He agrees, if Chez Marlon gets coverage in the article. Chris visits Charity at work and suggests a holiday. Sean mocks her when Chris leaves. Zoe pops by to see Charity, insisting on a holiday together. Charity, reluctant to tell her about the plans with Chris, agrees.

Episode 2964 (Fri 20th July 2001)

Chris and Charity race against time to make their flight. Zak puts Cain in his place and Scott celebrates his 21st birthday.

Angie is concerned about Ollie's recent behaviour. Scott's rent is going up and he's annoyed.

Diane confides to Jack that she is worried that Bernice may have restarted her affair with Carlos. Taking the bull by the horns, she confronts Carlos and tells him that he has a choice, either finish their affair once and for all or come clean to everyone. Julian and Danny are up to no good when they borrow Alan’s motorbike without his permission. And Marlon is in a flap, trying to finish the preparations for Tara’s charity event. Angie is staggered by the scene of devastation she has walked in to. With Len lying unconscious at the bottom of the stairs and Ollie in hysterics, she makes a desperate call for an ambulance. Sean arrives at the hospital and quizzes Ollie about how Len fell down the stairs. He can barely believe what he is hearing when she tells him that Cain was in the house when Len had his accident.

Episode 2970 (Mon 30th July 2001)

Cain warns Angie that if she is unable to convince Len to lie to the police, he will reveal all about their affair. Angie is shocked when Len regains consciousness and whispers one word - Cain. She quickly sends Sean off to speak to the doctor then tells Len the truth about her relationship with Cain and asks him to lie to the police. Ashley tries to persuade Bernice to reinstate Carlos as chef at the Woolpack. But Bernice insists the subject is closed - she will never employ him again. She confides to Diane that she is at a loss as to why Carlos suddenly called off their affair, and is furious to discover that her mother was behind his decision. Gloria is excited when Eric tells her that he has something important to ask her.

Episode 2971 (Tue 31st July 2001)

Angie is becoming increasingly concerned about her colleagues questioning Len and the prospect of her affair with Cain being uncovered. Whilst at the hospital, Ollie makes an emotional apology to Len for Cain's behaviour, stressing that people have got him all wrong, but admits that they are no longer seeing each other. Following Len's interview with the police, Sean fails to understand why Cain is not going to be charged over Len's assault. Angie decides it's time to come clean about the reason Cain was in the house. She admits that Ollie invited Cain in, and that he was the boyfriend Ollie wouldn't tell them about. Sean is furious and is desperate to confront Cain. Angie pleads for him to stay away; stressing that Ollie and Cain's relationship is over. Gloria decides she doesn't want to look after £30,000 of Eric's money in a bank account bearing her name, even when he offers her 50% of the interest.

Episode 2972 (Wed 1st Aug 2001)

Sean contemplates why his family has been beset by so many problems recently as Len begins to recover. He visits his father in hospital and suggests that if he was still living at home his accident would never have happened. With the bit between his teeth, Sean visits Angie and asks if he can move back home. She says he can. Eric, Bob, Viv and Gloria go out for a business meal, but for Gloria, work is the last thing on her mind. She is thrilled when Viv comments on the necklace she is wearing, and lost in the moment, she stuns Viv when she suggests that it is an engagement present from Eric. Scott rues his stupidity when Chloe dares him to do a Full Monty strip to shock Edna. He is bewildered when Chloe and Jason grab all his clothes and run inside and locking the door behind them.

Episode 2973 (Thu 2nd Aug 2001)

Andy asks Jack for a mobile phone, but Jack says they cost too much. Andy then asks Jack if he can go out for a date with Katie, which Diane encourages. When Katie arrives later, Andy marvels at her clothes and hairstyle compared to how she dresses in school. She asks to go where the action is - he suggests Chez Marlon Carlos helps Sean move back into the Reynolds family home. Angie and Ollie talk about their relief that Cain is no longer a part of their lives. Bob tries to sell some of Eric's gear, but Katie drowns him out when she decides to play her CDs to make Chez Marlon less "geriatric." Chloe, who is working a shift, tells them she and Scott have "fun" like they do, so the two of them go to play their music at the garage

Episode 2974 (Fri 3rd Aug 2001)

Eric is furious to discover that Gloria has been spreading the idea that they are getting married and confronts her in a heaving Woolpack. She flees, pursued by a concerned Ashley. Later, Sam discovers a light on in the factory and sneaks in to investigate. He discovers Gloria taking a large amount of money from the safe and hears her telling the waiting taxi driver to take her to the station. Sam finds Eric in the Woolpack and informs him of Gloria's plans. Eric then rushes off to the station, but he doesn't get there in time. Jack meets Andy's girlfriend Katie when they return from their date to watch TV at the farm. Katie receives a text message on her mobile phone and replies, saying she's having a great time! When Katie is picked up she tells Andy she enjoyed the evening and kisses him. Jack feels that Robert isn't sounding himself after a telephone conversation, and feels he might be ready to come home.

Episode 2975 (Mon 6th Aug 2001)

Eric, already grieving after Gloria walked out of his life, got an even bigger shock. As he hunted for some paperwork, he realised that she didn't leave empty handed and helped herself to the contents of his safe on her way out. Just as things seemed to be turning around for Jack, he received bad news from Spain. He is concerned that he hasn't heard from Robert and a phone call confirms his worst fears - Robert has disappeared. Jason and Latisha continued to get closer and Nicola set her sights on setting up home with Carlos - but he doesn't know it.

Episode 2976 (Tue 7th Aug 2001)

Despite his best efforts, Jack can't find any trace of Robert in Spain and he is becoming desperate with worry. But his concern turns to jubilation when his itinerant son makes a surprise return to the village. Over at the Stud, Lady Tara is gunning for Andrew and Virginia, and tries to orchestrate the pair's sacking. Rodney's plans for Chez Marlon don't sit well with Marlon and he threatens to quit. Rodney takes it in his stride and quickly lines up a replacement. Nicola digs her heels in about living with Carlos.

Episode 2977 (Wed 8th Aug 2001)

The peace between Robert and Andy is short-lived and a war of words ensues when Andy accuses Robert of making things up about Annie and the cat is really put amongst the pigeons when Andy's girlfriend, Katie, arrives and Robert likes what he sees. Tara continues to undermine Andrew and hold him responsible for an injured stallion. She becomes increasingly vindictive towards him and demands that Zoe gets to the bottom of how the injury happened. Nicola cooks up a plan to tempt Carlos to move in with her but the idea leaves a bad taste in his mouth. Marlon is annoyed when he discovers that Carlos had replaced him at Chez Marlon and is only too happy to accept his old job back at The Woolpack.

Episode 2978 (Thu 9th Aug 2001)

Tara remains adamant that Andrew should stay away from her horses, and demands that Zoe sack him, but she refuses. Frustrated, she calls Andrew into the office and demands his resignation. A fight ensues and they end up in a passionate clinch, only to be interrupted by Zoe and Virginia. Spotting Virginia in the village later, Tara approaches her and basks in her conquest of Andrew. Virginia is furious and slaps Tara. A fight develops and a humiliated Virginia is taken away in a police car. Carlos remains firm that he doesn't want to move in with Nicola, even though his feelings for her remain unchanged. An upset Nicola finds a shoulder to cry on in Emily. Will Carlos ever make that extra commitment? Len arrives back home and is pleased to find Angie and Sean reconciled.

Episode 2979/2980 (Fri 10th Aug 2001)

Carlos and Bernice continue their affair, but in a small village secrets have a habit of being discovered. Nicola asks Carlos to visit her that afternoon. But having already made plans to spend it with Bernice, he tells her that he has to go shopping in Hotten. Emily is excited when Nicola suggests that she could move in with her and goes to buy a bottle of wine to celebrate. But she is curious when she bumps into Carlos coming out of the shop. He quickly makes up an excuse as to why he is still in the village, but she didn't believe his story. Ollie is disappointed to hear that her family haven't made any special plans to celebrate her 16th birthday.

Episode 2981 (Mon 13th Aug 2001)

Bernice is feeling the full effects of morning sickness. Viv is strutting herself in full excitement for the Naughty Nylon photograph session. From her time away, Charity has realised that Chris is the one she wants and not Zoe. Chloe firmly tells her that she must finish her affair with Zoe. Ashley tries finding out information on Carlos' current state of mind about Nicola. Zoe advises Chris that Charity should take on Virginia's old job at the stud office. He reluctantly agrees. Zak and Lisa celebrate their 'holiday' with beach items outside the cottage. Eric is not pleased but Cynthia jumps to their beckon call. Ashley finally confronts Carlos on him and Nicola. Carlos is confused but reassures him that he loves Nicola but doesn't want to hurt her.

Episode 2982 (Tue 14th Aug 2001)

An exhausted Bernice and Diane talk about who's the father of Bernice's unborn baby. They try to work out what Bernice should do next. Emily tactfully tells a tearful Nicola that she is better off without Carlos but advises her to talk to him in the morning. Rodney arrives home in a slightly merry state with Louise. Bernice and Diane talk about Bernice being a single mum and doing without both Ashley and Carlos. Diane tells Bernice that she still has feelings for Rodney. Nicola arrives at Annie's Cottage early in the morning and tries to explain her efforts to Carlos. However, Carlos is concrete about his decision to end their relationship. Nicola runs to her father for confinement. Rodney confronts Carlos as to his behaviour to Nicola. Carlos is fed up and decides it's time Ashley knew the truth. Meanwhile, Bernice has sat Ashley down and told him she has something to tell him.

Chloe's gobsmacked to come home and find Charity packing her things - she's moving into the B&B. Terry hunts her down and she gives him the consent to tell Chris she's back. Chris pleads with her to take him back, but she tells him it's over between them. Emily's devastated to have forgotten Butch's birthday and is annoyed that everyone thinks it's a good thing that she's finally forgetting about him. She has a heart-to-heart with Paddy about Butch and Mandy, and the look on Ed's face when he finds out shows that he thinks of it more than a chat. Scott and Danny take Marc out for a spin in Charity's car when he tells them he's interested in buying it.

Carlos tells Terry how fed up he is of being left out of Bernice's life when her baby might be his; when Diane overhears him pestering her daughter, she asks him to stop. Carlos asks Emily when Nicola will be back, but Emily reminds him they parted on bad terms. As the barbecue begins, Bernice is fed up of Ashley's hovering. Diane and Jack make awkward small talk with Alan until a gloating Rodney interrupts. Marlon is soon in for a shock. Has Tricia returned to the village?

Episode 2991 (Tue 28th Aug 2001)

As the Reynolds family plan a celebration with news that Marc has passed his driving test, Cain plans an announcement of a different kind. The get-together is in full swing when Cain makes a dramatic entrance and drops a bombshell that stuns Sean and his family into disbelief. He tells them that he and Angie had been sleeping together. Viv gets the shock of her life when the Naughty Nylons catalogue was published - with another model's head on her body! She forces Bob to ring and complain to the M.D, but he soon regrets his actions. Diane goes down ill at the Woolpack and Louise steps in to cover. Diane offers her a permanent job, much to the displeasure of Rodney.

Episode 2992 (Wed 29th Aug 2001)

Cain's news wreaks havoc on the Reynolds family and accusations fly from all sides. Angie tries to restrain an outraged Sean who is desperate to get even with Cain for destroying his family. Cain laughs in Sean's face and winds him up further by comparing Angie and Ollie. Sean's blood boils and he eventually snaps, lunging out of control at Cain. Cain offers no resistance as Sean beats him to a pulp, simply encouraging bystanders to witness what was happening. Sean has fallen into Cain's trap, the police are called and Sean is arrested for assault. A devastated Ollie turns to Danny for comfort.

Episode 2993 (Thu 30th Aug 2001)

Angie is alienated by her family. Sean is released by the police.

Episode 2994 (Fri 31st Aug 2001)

Cain's allegations to the police leave Angie shattered.

Episode 2995 (Mon 3rd Sept 2001)

Chris refuses to admit that his relationship with Charity was over and makes a last ditch effort to get her back. But he isn't the only one desperate to win her over. Zoe finds Charity in the Woolpack and tries to rebuild their relationship. But she is mortified when Charity lets rip in front of everyone. On hearing that Charity and Zoe have been rowing in public, Chris assumes that his sister must have been lying about having an affair with Charity. He wastes no time in paying Charity a visit, but can he persuade her that they should get back together? Angie is hurt when she is forced to admit to Viv that she has been suspended from her job, and her pain grows when Ollie snubs her. Unable to cope with the pressure, Angie returns home and breaks down in front of Len. Eve causes a stir on her first day at school, but Donna is annoyed when she takes an interest in Marc.

Episode 2996 (Tue 4th Sept 2001)

In the B&B, Alan knocks on Charity's bedroom door to tell her that breakfast is ready, she shouts to him that she doesn't feel like any breakfast this morning. At Home Farm, Terry tells Chris that he heard from Viv that Zoe and Charity have had another fight in the Woolpack. Chris thinks this is good news and would explain Charity's behaviour to him last night. He asks Terry if he thinks he should go and see Charity but Terry doesn't know. Chris thinks he has finally worked out what Charity wants. Terry is confused. Andy and Robert walk toward the bus stop. Robert torments Andy about Katie. Andy thinks Robert couldn't get a girlfriend at all. Robert tells him he would be surprised who he could get to go out with him. Marc goes into the shop as Donna, Eve and Ollie walk out.

Episode 2997 (Wed 5th Sept 2001)

Chris and Charity enjoy breakfast together at Home Farm as an engaged couple. Robert and Andy walk towards the village bus stop. Robert asks Andy where he got the money from to pay for the meal last night. Andy tells him that he earned the cash and is happy he spoilt Robert's game to ruin things between him and Katie. In the Hope's back room, Donna is about to leave for school, she collects her bag from the sofa and goes into the shop. Viv is telling Emily that she and Bob are going out for the evening tomorrow to celebrate Bob's new job. Viv tells Donna not to wait up as she expects to be back late. Donna looks happy. In the Dingles, Zak is about to leave for a check up at the hospital and Lisa wishes him good luck.

Episode 2998 (Thu 6th Sept 2001)

Sam is unhappy about Zak and Lisa's upcoming holiday, knowing he'll be left alone with Cain. Zak overhears Sam swearing he won't tell about Cain's hidden stash of money - Cain gives Zak some to help pay for the trip. Zoe refuses to support Chris' engagement to Charity, and warns him to make sure he gets a prenuptial agreement. Charity tells an unhappy Chris that she's going to move back in with Chloe until the wedding to help keep Zoe's anger at bay. Miss Strickland warns Donna about the notice on the board advertising her party - Eve admits to Donna that she put them up so more people would attend. Bernice bristles at Ashley's concern over her eating habits now that she's pregnant.

Episode 2999 (Fri 7th Sept 2001)

In the Dingles, Cain is sat at the table counting out his money. Sam passes through on his way to work. Cain calls him over and shows him the money. Cain tells Sam he is not going to work as he has to earn the £200 back that Cain gave to Zak. Cain orders Sam back upstairs and tells him to wait there until he calls for him. Jack is cooking breakfast, he shouts for Robert and Andy as they are going to be late for school. Robert comes in and tells Jack that Andy has a hangover. Andy comes in. Looking very rough, he asks Jack if he can stay off sick. Jack will not hear of it and sternly tells the boys about underage drinking. Jack reminds the lads that there is a career fair at school today. In the Hope's backroom, Bob is finding the evidence from last night's party.

Episode 3000 (Mon 10th Sept 2001)

Emmerdale's teenagers are gearing themselves up for their big night out on the town - blissfully unaware of the horror that lies in wait for them. The evening doesn't go well for Andy who is barred from entering the nightclub and forced to tramp the streets as his friends and even his girlfriend dance the night away inside. Andy has to resort to some chips and a can of 'Safeway' lemonade from the club, brought out by Donna. He then goes walkabout and gets the blame as they miss the last bus home and in a desperate bid to impress Katie, Robert, Eve, Donna, Marc and Ollie, he sets about stealing a car. Against their better judgement and with Marc at the wheel, the gang of seven then begin a joyride home that quickly turns to tragedy and so begins a living hell. The regulars enjoy a theme night at The Woolpack but Cain draws attention to himself by splashing out with £20 notes. Nicola has returned refreshed from her time away and confirms to Carlos that she is pregnant.

Episode 3001 (Tue 11th Sept 2001)

The nightmare continues for the seven deadly sinners as they reel with shock when they realise who they have killed. It is their Head-Teacher, Miss Strickland. Panic ensues and the seven teenagers argue as to how best to deal with the situation. Andy suggests that they should call the police but they eventually agree on a drastic course of action. The youngsters decide to torch the car in a bid to destroy any evidence that may link them to the death. The horror of the night unites the group in fear. Andy and Robert put aside their differences, while Eve and Marc are drawn together. The theme night at The Woolpack proves a roaring success. Bernice tries desperately to smile through the pain and confusion she is feeling but finds herself preoccupied by the news that Nicola is carrying Carlos's baby. Cain fears that somebody is onto his counterfeit money scam when he discovers a mysterious envelope in his pocket.

Episode 3002 (Wed 12th Sept 2001)

The kids try to come to terms with the horror of Monday night. Donna tells Viv and Bob that she feels sick. Jack is curious as to why Andy and Robert are acting so oddly, but mistakenly puts it down to girl trouble. Katie breaks down, clearly having problems coming to terms with the consequences of their actions, while Eve does her best to put the incident to the back of her mind. Andy nearly attacks a girl at school who taunts him and Katie. Ollie barely stops Donna from telling Viv the truth. Ollie then tells Marc that Donna is near breaking point, and they need to arrange a meeting to discuss what they are going to do, but will he agree? Rodney is annoyed to learn that the restaurant has taken counterfeit money.

Episode 3003 (Thu 13th Sept 2001)

Emily is stunned to discover that her best friend has got engaged. But that is nothing compared to the reaction Nicola receives from Rodney, who has the double bombshell dropped on him - his daughter is not only getting married, she's also pregnant! Bernice's world is torn apart by the news and with no-one else to turn to, she confides to Terry that she is still in love with Carlos. Rodney is furious to discover that he has been gazumped over Mill Cottage. On spotting a surveyor at the house, he endeavours to find out the identity of the new owner. But he is left seething when the surveyor refuses to divulge any information. Emily's attempts to develop her relationship with Ed end in failure when he misreads the signals.

Episode 3004 (Fri 14th Sept 2001)

The teenagers are anxious as they gather together to discuss their alibis. When Eve fails to turn up, Marc goes in search of her. But he is horrified to see a police car leaving her house. Will Eve have betrayed the teenagers? Nicola forges ahead with the wedding plans determined to get Carlos up the aisle before she begins to show. Meanwhile, Bernice does her best to appear happy, but she is clearly upset when Carlos explains that marrying Nicola is the best decision for all concerned. Jason and Latisha grow closer when they go on a picnic, but he is slightly bewildered when he catches her watching him admiringly. Angie is pensive as she is called to the police station to hear the outcome of the enquiry into Cain's allegations. She is devastated to learn that she has been demoted and transferred to another station. Len tries to lighten her mood, but she is clearly worried about how she is going to support her family on a lower salary.

Episode 3005 (Mon 17th Sept 2001)

The kids' guilty secret is weighing heavily on their minds. With the police investigation gaining pace, nerves are becoming fraught, but will they be able to keep up the pretence? Marc is terrified when he sees the police coming out of Eve's house. He decides to do a runner, but his plans are scuppered when he finds the police waiting for him on his doorstep. His resolve is tested to the full when he is told that there is a small discrepancy between his and Eve's stories. Angie is surprised by Sean's reaction when she tells him that she is thinking of selling up and moving away from the village. She is furious to discover that he has spoken to a solicitor about a divorce and as far as he is concerned the house would have to be sold anyway. Emily is frustrated by the lack of passion in her relationship with Ed. Viv suggests that she should take the initiative and Emily wastes no time in arranging a rendezvous for the next night.

Episode 3006 (Tue 18th Sept 2001)

Ed and Emily prepare themselves for their night of passion, but their evening is destined to end in disaster. Over dinner, Emily realises that there is no spark of physical attraction between them, and is panic stricken when he makes a move on her. She dashes out of the house and ends up on Paddy's doorstep. Concerned by her emotional state, Paddy offers her a shoulder to cry on, and it isn't long before their friendship becomes more than platonic. Bob is shocked to discover that he owes nearly a £1,000 in maintenance to his ex-wife. He approaches Eric for a sub on his wages, but is left deflated when he refuses. Paddy and Emily conspire to get Marlon and Rhona together by arranging for them to meet in The Woolpack. Marlon is put out to discover that he has been set up, but is thrilled when Rhona agrees to have dinner with him the following night.

Episode 3007 (Wed 19th Sept 2001)

Emily and Paddy wake up in each other's arms, blissfully happy after the night before. But Emily's thoughts soon turn to Ed and she realises that she will have to sort things out with him. Ed has his own plans, however, and they could well solve Emily's dilemma. But unbeknownst to them, as Emily leaves the house, Nicola and Ed find her and Paddy together, embracing and kissing one anothe. Rodney and Louise are trying to make the most of their time together before she goes back to Australia. But she is far from pleased when Rodney accepts an invitation on their behalf without consulting with her first. Viv's excitement about her forthcoming break is dented when Bob reveals that he is having financial problems and suggests they sell the holiday

Episode 3008 (Thu 20th Sept 2001)

Emily's relationship with Paddy continues to blossom, but there is one dark cloud on the horizon - telling Ed what has happened. Emily asks Nicola's advice about her situation, but is horrified to discover that Ed already knows. She visits Ed and tries to explain about her feelings for Paddy. With his dreams in tatters, Ed resolves to leave the village. Viv is disappointed when Bob sells their dream holiday to pay off his debts. He offers to book a holiday with the remainder of the money, but she is less than thrilled at the prospect of going on a cheap package deal. Rodney is disappointed when Louise refuses to accompany him to the party at Home Farm. After a heart to heart with Bernice, she decides to go to the party in the hope that Rodney might ask her to stay in the village. Cynthia is put out when Latisha tells her that she has asked Jason to be Kirk's godfather rather than Danny.

Episode 3009 (Fri 21st Sept 2001)

Time is running out for Rodney and Louise. It's her last day in the village, and the pair stubbornly refuse to admit their feelings for each other. She is touched to discover that the village has organised a surprise farewell party, but is left disappointed when she says her goodbyes and Rodney fails to ask her to stay. With Louise gone, Rodney finally realises how strong his feelings are for her and is stunned when she suddenly walks in to Chez Marlon. The kids are anxious about attending Miss Strickland's funeral. They hold a meeting to discuss the subject and eventually agree to attend. Ollie is horrified to learn that the school would like her to do a reading at Miss Strickland's funeral.

Episode 3010 (Mon 24th Sept 2001)

It's the day of Miss Strickland's funeral and the teenagers are having trouble coming to terms with their involvement in her death. Ollie visits Donna and tries to talk to her about how guilty she feels. But she is left frustrated when Emily interrupts their conversation. Ollie turns to Marc and admits that she doesn't think she can attend the funeral. But she is relieved when he agrees to go as well. As they all walk in to the church, the enormity of what they have done hits them like a brick. Ollie is terrified when the time arrives for her to do a reading, but she manages to struggle through. As they walk outside, Ollie is overcome by emotion and flees the cemetery.

Episode 3011 (Tue 25th Sept 2001)

Marc, Robert, Donna, Katie and Eve are furious to discover that Ollie has told Danny about their involvement in Miss Strickland's death. Danny tries to persuade them to give themselves up to the police. Cain and Andy try their luck at the bookies using counterfeit money. But while they are thrilled by their luck, little do they realise that their scam has already been discovered. Zak is upset to learn that Nellie has moved without his knowledge, and he has no way of finding out if Sam is visiting her in Ireland. Diane is annoyed to discover that Rodney had his feet planted firmly under the table in The Woolpack, while she was away on holiday. Marlon can barely believe his luck when Rhona invites him to spend the afternoon with her. And Chris and Charity await Zoe's return to Home Farm.

Episode 3012 (Wed 26th Sept 2001)

Zak is concerned when he spots two men surveying the Dingle's house. He tackles Cain and demands to know what is going on. But Cain simply pleads his innocence. Cain and Andy decide to get rid of the rest of the counterfeit money by buying a car. But their plans are thrown in to chaos when a van screeches to an halt beside them and they are bundled into the back. They are terrified when they are driven to a dis-used warehouse, where they come face to face with local gangster Ray - demanding to know why they are off loading dodgy money on his doorstep

Episode 3013 (Thu 27th Sept 2001)

Marc panics when he learns the police could make an arrest for the hit and run that day after following up a fresh lead. He immediately assumes Danny has betrayed the group's confidence. Their anxiety is further heightened when they see Andy in a police car and Eve suggests that they should say Andy is lying if they are questioned. The Dingles throw a party to celebrate Paddy and Emily's blossoming relationship. Paul is taken aback when he realises Jason delivered his son. Feeling a little put out he begins to question the amount of time Jason is spending with Latisha and his son. Jason retaliates, and asks Paul if hitting a woman would make him a real man. Danny is furious to discover that Paul has been hitting his sister and tries to attack him. Zoe is feeling hurt and lonely and, at Paddy's insistence, she moves into the vets until Charity and Chris can move out of Home Farm.

Episode 3014 (Fri 28th Sept 2001)

Tensions are mounting as the teenagers discover that an innocent man - the owner of the car they stole, has been arrested over the hit and run. Andy is horrified at the prospect of someone taking the blame for their crime and Marc begins to wonder whether keeping quiet is the right thing to do. The reality of Nicola and Carlos' impending nuptials become clear when Bernice sees Nicola in her wedding dress at a fitting. Bernice later admits to Diane that she wonders whether she has missed the opportunity to be with the man she was meant to be with. A stern Diane orders Bernice to start appreciating what's she's got instead of wondering what she could have lost. Paul visits Latisha at work in an attempt to reconcile, but she is reluctant to speak to him. After urging him to leave, she becomes aware of how menacing he could be when he insists that they will talk again.

Episode 3015 (Mon 1st Oct 2001)

Appearances can be deceptive, and that is certainly the case when the new owner of Mill Cottage arrives in the village. Rodney is annoyed to meet the man who gazumped him, but he is quickly won over by his charm. The Woolpack customers are completely taken with him, when he dips his hand in his pocket and offers to buy everyone a drink. But while Ray Mullan impresses the villagers, local villain Cain seems distinctly uneasy about the new arrival. Marc is guilt ridden when Betty shows him a newspaper article reporting that a man has been charged with causing Miss Strickland's death. He and Eve go to the farm to make sure Andy and Robert are still staying quiet. Marlon and Rhona decide to make her last day in the village a passionate one to remember. Rodney spots the ideal opportunity to expand his business interests when he notices that the Holiday Village is up for sale.

Episode 3016 (Tue 2nd Oct 2001)

Nicola is over the moon when her mother arrives to help with her wedding preparations. But there is one person who is less than thrilled to see her - ex-husband, Rodney. The Blackstocks share a family meal, but Rodney feels increasingly uncomfortable, with Maureen and Diane's bickering. Andy is terrified when he spots Ray in the village and dashes to tell Cain his news. Cain approaches Ray with the intention of making amends for off-loading counterfeit money on his patch. Latisha is annoyed when Paul pays her a surprise visit.

Episode 3017 (Wed 3rd Oct 2001)

Carlos and Nicola's wedding is only a day away and the pair decide to make the most of their last night of freedom. But as the drinks flow, tensions mount, and a secret is revealed which threatens to destroy the happy occasion. At the hen night, Diane is amazed by Maureen's choice of entertainment - a magician. Meanwhile, at Chez Marlon, the lads prepare themselves for the imminent arrival of their stripper. But, when their stripper walks in to The Woolpack to ask for directions, the women invite her to stay and send the magician in her place - leaving the lads in a state of confusion. Carlos is rattled when the conversation turns to the subject of affairs, and Terry nearly reveals all about his dalliance with Bernice. Bernice is staggered when Nicola confides that she isn't pregnant and swears her to secrecy. Andy protests his innocence when Marc accuses him of leaving the dead rabbit.

Episode 3018 (Thu 4th Oct 2001)

The village prepares for Carlos and Nicola's wedding. But with Nicola's hen night confession still ringing in her ears, will Bernice be able to keep the secret to herself? Bernice visits Nicola and tries to persuade her to tell Carlos that she isn't pregnant, but is left frustrated when she refuses, still insisting that Bernice should keep their secret. Unsure as to what to do, Bernice arrives at the church, and makes her way down the aisle to speak to Carlos. But she changes her mind at the last minute and dashes out of the church to await Nicola's arrival. As the car pulls up Bernice tries one last time to persuade Nicola to tell the truth. But, her words land on deaf ears, and Bernice decides to force the issue by dragging Carlos outside.

Episode 3019 (Fri 5th Oct 2001)

In the church, Rodney and Maureen console Nicola as she sobs into their arms. Everyone is silent. Bernice runs towards Ashley asking to explain. He turns his back on her and walks away. Diane tries to get Bernice to leave, but she wants to talk to Ashley. Carlos has go at Nicola asking why she had to do this so publicly. Rodney defends her. Maureen punches Carlos to the ground. Everyone gasps. Maureen shouts at Carlos about his behaviour. Maureen and Diane start to argue defending their daughters. Maureen calls Bernice a slut. Diane goes to Ashley, he says nothing and then asks Diane if she knew about it and then tells her to get out of the church. Bernice tries to explain telling Nicola it was a fling and they ended it. Maureen ushers Nicola out have the church and Emily follows.

Episode 3020 (Mon 8th Oct 2001)

Alan and Marlon are united in shock when Tricia walks back in to their lives. Both are initially frosty towards her, but Alan soon shows his true delight and welcomes his granddaughter back in to the family fold. Marlon isn't so instantly forgiving and is forced to confess that he isn't sure whether he is pleased to see her. Fresh from the farce of the wedding, Rodney is furious to see Bernice and Carlos embracing - but has he misread the situation or are they really a couple once again? Chris is intrigued to discover that the holiday village is for sale - but he is not the only one interested. Donna's interview with the army is scheduled just as Bob and Viv return from their holiday.

Episode 3021 (Tue 9th Oct 2001)

Bernice finally brings herself to admit that she is happy that she and Carlos are making a go of it together. And while Rodney isn't thrilled at how she has upset Nicola, he does find it in his heart to give her a second chance. Nicola isn't feeling quite so benevolent, however, and she is furious when she sees her father coming out of The Woolpack. Her anger turns to outright rage when she learns that Bernice and Carlos are inside and she stones the pub's windows. Marlon decides to confess to Tricia about what happened with Rhona but she finds it hard to handle the truth. She hands him a bundle of letters that she didn't dare post for fear of rejection. Zak's attempts to open up to Lisa seem doomed to failure when he feels that she is patronising him, so he clams up again. Rodney joins forces with Chris to discuss their ideas for the holiday village.

Episode 3022 (Wed 10th Oct 2001)

Betty gives Bernice a mind of her mind, and Ashley is furious to discover Terry knew all along about the affair.

Episode 3023 (Thu 11th Oct 2001)

Eve, Donna and Ollie rally around Marc, who is becoming increasingly nervous about the repercussions of the hit and run. Rodney is unnerved to discover from the estate agent that he and Chris have a local rival in the holiday village - none other than Emmerdale's new "Mr Big", Ray Mullan. Ray invites Rodney and Chris out for a meal, but does he intend to play them for a fool or play it straight? Ashley finds the courage to deliver his first service since the wedding that wasn't and is shaken to see such a large congregation. Marlon tells Tricia that the restaurant doesn't fulfil his dream as he expected and they torch the menus to signal its end and the start of a new future together. Zak finds that he can open up to Les and Jenny and discusses his intimacy problems with Lisa.

Episode 3024 (Fri 12th Oct 2001)

Bernice tries to extend an olive branch to Nicola, while Chris and Rodney have dinner with Ray.

Episode 3025 (Mon 15th Oct 2001)

Chris is prepared to break the bank to ensure that he is successful in buying the holiday village, however Rodney does not agree with his plan. Rodney is intrigued when Ray suggests that he may be able to help by getting some inside information on the other sealed bids - at a price. Chris refuses to involve Ray in their business dealings. But Rodney, determined not to pay above the odds, goes behind his back and enlists Ray's help. Bernice grows increasingly frustrated by Carlos's refusal to accept that their relationship is over. She is delighted when Ashley arrives with a letter from the hospital notifying her of the date of her scan.

Episode 3026 (Tue 16th Oct 2001)

Chris is furious to discover Rodney's tactic, while Marc is thrown in the deep end when Angie allows him to borrow her car for the evening.

Episode 3027 (Wed 17th Oct 2001)

The bidding war draws to a close, but is it good news for Chris and Rodney? Meanwhile, Latisha offloads Kirk onto Jason as she goes to meet with Paul.

Episode 3028 (Thu 18th Oct 2001)

Bernice's hopes are dashed when she heads to the vicarage, while Marc gets closer to cracking when he, Ollie and Eve attend the court hearing of the man arrested for the hit and run, and Latisha makes a decision that leaves Cynthia and Danny horrified.

Episode 3029 (Fri 19th Oct 2001)

Bernice is determined to get away from her problems, Kathy heads off for her holiday in Australia, Danny tries to make Latisha see sense and Cain tails Zak when his curiosity is aroused.

Episode 3030 (Mon 22nd Oct 2001)

Latisha's dream of future happiness with Paul is destroyed when he shows his true colours. Paul warns Jason that he will have to get any ideas of visiting Latisha in Bradford out of his head. Undeterred, Jason asks Latisha if he will be able to visit. Paul is furious when she agrees, and he makes his displeasure known when he lays Jason out with a punch. Zak is shocked to discover that his friend Les has died. Convinced that he was on the mend, he is surprised when Jenny tells him that Les's health had been deteriorating for some time. On returning home, Cain suggests that keeping two women on the go seems to be tiring Zak out. He is taken aback when Zak admits that he and Lisa have been experiencing some problems in the bedroom department.

Episode 3031 (Tue 23rd Oct 2001)

Zak visits Jenny and offers her a shoulder to cry on following Les' death. They crack open a bottle of whiskey to numb the pain of her loss, but as the evening draws on, they find comfort in each other's arms and end up in bed together. Latisha admits to Jason that she fancies him and dreams of them being a proper couple. Seizing the moment, she kisses him and takes him upstairs, but she is left disappointed when he tells her that it isn't going to work. Charity and Chris are stunned when Zoe informs them that she is moving back to Home Farm. They are further surprised when Zoe tells Chris that she lied about having an affair with Charity. Tara joins Sean for a drink in The Woolpack and it's not long before their evening turns to passion and Nicola lets Carlos know exactly what she thinks of him.

Episode 3032 (Wed 24th Oct 2001)

Zak is wracked with guilt following his impromptu night of passion with Jenny. With Cain still sniffing around his business, Zak becomes increasingly desperate to unburden his conscience and feels the need to confess all to a shocked Marlon. But will Zak heed Marlon's wise words and set about putting his relationship with Lisa back on track? Jason has his own problems after spending the night with Latisha. He is convinced that he has ruined their friendship because he cannot offer her anything more than a platonic relationship - but will that be enough for Latisha? Zoe's erratic behaviour concerns Chris in the buildup to their wedding, while Charity is flummoxed as to why she denied their affair to Chris.

Episode 3033 (Thu 25th Oct 2001)

Charity is convinced that Zoe is up to something. She tells Chris of her concerns, but he simply puts it down to Zoe trying to make amends for her past behaviour. Chris is surprised when Zoe admits that she is proud of him. But as their conversation continues, he becomes troubled by the effect that his wedding preparations are having on her. He suggests to Charity that they should postpone their wedding - an idea that leaves her horrified. Ollie and Marc become concerned that someone knows that they were responsible for the hit and run which killed Miss Strickland. Andy is furious when Ollie approaches him and demands to know if he is the one behind all the tricks. Paddy decides to organise a surprise weekend for Emily in Paris. He enlists Nicola's help. But a problem arises when Nicola fails to find Emily's passport. Zak and Lisa's enjoy a romantic evening. And Rodney enthusiastically tells Louise about his plans for the Holiday Village.

Episode 3034 (Fri 26th Oct 2001)

Zoe has a plan which could prove to Chris once and for all, that she and Charity had an affair. Charity is wary when she finds Zoe alone at Home Farm. With Chris nowhere to be seen, Charity agrees to discuss their affair - unaware that Zoe is recording their conversation. Edna is horrified when she overhears Jack talking to Diane about having a mobile phone mast erected on his property. Louise is gobsmacked when she receives a surprise visit from a face from her past - her ex-boyfriend Paul. Paddy's plan to whisk Emily off on a romantic weekend in Paris is destroyed when she tells him that she doesn't have a passport. The teenagers hatch a plan to catch their pursuer and Zak takes Lisa on a romantic picnic.

Episode 3035 (Mon 29th Oct 2001)

Increasingly concerned that someone is on to their dark secret, the troubled teenagers are determined to discover who is stalking them. But things take a sinister turn when Eve is grabbed by a shadowy figure outside the chalet. Marc and Danny hear her screams and rush to try and free her from the clutches of the attacker. As they grapple with the assailant they are stunned to discover his identity. Blissfully unaware of Zoe's plans to put a spanner in the works, Chris gives in to Charity and their wedding plans get firmly back on schedule. Village battleaxe Edna Birch revels in telling Diane of her plans to thwart Jack's hopes for a mobile phone mast on his land.

Episode 3036 (Tue 30th Oct 2001)

Shocked to learn that it is Sam who knows their secret, he explains that he has been living rough in the woods in a bid to escape from Cain. He reveals that he has found it lonely and has been listening in on their conversations but assures them that he won't say a word to anyone. Eve worries that the group will be found out but Marc insists that Sam is harmless. As Chris and Charity continue to make grand plans for their wedding, Zoe makes it clear to Terry that she is plotting their downfall but refuses to be drawn on her scheming. Jack is furious at the backlash to his plans for a phone mast as Edna demands that Eric takes action in his role as councillor. Rodney finds the going tough with Louise's former boyfriend hanging around pressing for a reconciliation.

Episode 3037 (Wed 31st Oct 2001)

With the chalet now out of bounds, the teenagers continue to air their angst at the Reynolds' house. Sam is invited to try to keep him quiet about his knowledge on the hit and run. Chris is unnerved when Zoe urges him to make Charity sign a pre-nuptial agreement. Is she just trying to safeguard his fortune or suggesting that his wife-to-be may not remain faithful? As the village enjoys a Halloween night at The Woolpack, Ashley and Carlos both decide it would be best if they showed their faces. Nicola berates Carlos for sitting around in the pub after what he's done to her. Tricia invites a psychic friend for the party and to potentially help her find Joe. She gives Louise love advice, and gives Angie a tarot reading that leaves her suitably worried. As the rest of the teen group indulges in Halloween films, Eve and Marc sneak upstairs for some time alone.

Episode 3038 (Thu 1st Nov 2001)

Charity is appalled to learn that Chris is drawing up a pre-nuptial agreement and it doesn't take her long to realise that Zoe is behind it. Zoe explains that she is trying to safeguard Joseph's inheritance in the event of Charity cheating again on Chris. Charity is further mortified when Zoe tells her that she has a taped confession of the affair. Charity is then delivered a crushing ultimatum - sign the agreement or risk losing Chris when Zoe tells him everything. Marc is unforgiving when Ollie explains that she wrote on his bedroom wall because he has become pre-occupied with Eve and is brushing the death of Miss Strickland under the carpet. Eve is busy trying to cover their tracks and persuades Andy and Robert to find Sam and convince him that the previous evening's antics were nothing more than a Halloween joke. Nicola challenges Carlos about the way he has treated her but isn't prepared for the home truths that he serves up.

Episode 3039 (Fri 2nd Nov 2001)

Charity is feeling the pressure as Zoe insists that she must sign the pre-nuptial agreement and she can barely believe her ears when Zoe plays her the recording of the confession. Her aversion to signing the agreement causes friction with Chris - much to Zoe's delight. Marc starts to crack under the pressure of the dark secret he shares with the other youngsters and he confides to Ollie that the guilt he feels is all consuming. He contemplates confessing but Eve urges him to think of the others. Ashley takes Nicola under his wing and invites her to help organise the village bonfire. Carlos, meanwhile, approaches Diane for a reference and, thinking he is leaving the village, she is only too happy to help. She is shocked when he reveals he is staying for the sake of the baby and can't walk out of the child's life as Rodney did to Bernice. Joe returns to Emmerdale and, on Jason's insistence, agrees to meet Tricia to discuss a divorce.

Episode 3040 (Mon 5th Nov 2001)

Miss Strickland's death is weighing heavily on Marc's mind. Unable to cope with the guilt any longer, he decides on a course of action, which will change his life forever. At the bonfire party, the teenagers grow increasingly concerned by Marc's erratic behaviour. Eve is horrified when Marc drives off with the intention of confessing to the police that he was responsible for causing Miss Strickland's death. Marc walks in to the police station and confesses that he was solely responsible for the accident, which killed Miss Strickland. But his attempt to protect his friends is destroyed when Eve arrives and admits that he was not the only one involved. Marlon is relieved when Tricia tells him that she will be able to divorce Joe without any problems. But he is knocked for six when she asks him to marry her.

Episode 3041 (Tue 6th Nov 2001)

The teenagers who were involved in the hit and run that killed Miss Strickland are in for a rude awakening. Jack is stunned when the police arrive at his farm and tell him that they need to bring Robert and Andy in for questioning. Jack can barely believe what is happening, when Andy admits his part in the hit and run. Ollie is overwhelmed with relief when a detective arrives to question her. Unable to cope with the lies any longer, she confesses her part in the tragedy. Chris grows increasingly frustrated when Charity refuses to discuss their wedding plans unless he agrees to pay her a lump sum.

Episode 3042 (Wed 7th Nov 2001)

A new family lands in Emmerdale and prove themselves a smash from the outset. As Phil arrives with Jess, he crashes into Maggie, Lucy and Craig and Scott is forced to come to their rescue, but their prang proves unfortunate for Rodney who is forced to introduce them as the new management at the holiday village. Scott is flabbergasted and tells Rodney what he can do with his job. Charity can't escape Zoe's wicked ways in The Woolpack and she insinuates that her refusal to sign the prenuptial agreement is proof that she only wanted Chris for his money. With Ashley's 40th on the horizon and Bernice not around to arrange anything, it is left to Emily and Nicola to plan a surprise birthday bash. The families of the teenagers struggle to come to terms with the truth behind Miss Strickland's death.

Episode 3043 (Thu 8th Nov 2001)

Tension is mounting over at the Holiday Village when Maggie and Phil discover their cramped accommodation. Lucy is thrilled at the chance to earn some extra cash with some cleaning work. However Jess, being Jess, finds the prospect much less appealing. Craig is impressed with the beauty of Emmerdale - namely Chloe. Charity continues her battle of wits with Zoe and seeks a guarantee that she won't reveal their secret. Left with little choice, Charity finally puts pen to paper, assuring Chris that it is a gesture of faith. As Zoe watches on triumphantly, Charity then stuns them both by revealing a few home truths that leave them shattered. Nicola's plans for Ashley's birthday party take shape, but she deliberately excludes Carlos from the invite list. Things don't get any better for him when he is given the brush off by Bernice when he tries to comfort her. While the already troubled Angie is enraged to discover Sean and Lady Tara together.

Episode 3044 (Fri 9th Nov 2001)

Chris is furious at Zoe's antics, while Charity confides in Chloe that she thinks she has blown it with Chris. Chris shares his upset with Rodney but he is not entirely surprised by Charity's confession. Charity finally plucks up the courage to visit Chris and is shocked when he admits that he always suspected her affair with Zoe. She is stunned further when he reveals that he still wants her in his life. Emily and Nicola continue with their party plans and Nicola takes great delight in walking all over Bernice. Tricia steps in to fight Bernice's corner but succeeds in only making matters worse for her. Marc's shame over the hit and run is laid bare for all to see in the local paper, while Edna and Viv join forces to try and nip Betty's evil gossiping in the bud. Angie tries to pick up her career but feels as though it is all in vain and considers her future in the force. Sean prepares for his own court case and Tara assures him that his lawyer will make sure he doesn't get sent down.

Episode 3045 (Mon 12th Nov 2001)

After all of Ashley's recent problems, the village decides to try and cheer him up by holding a surprise 40th birthday party for him. But will he appreciate all the hard work they have gone to? Ashley is shocked when he walks in to the vicarage to find the place filled with his friends. But while everyone else is in a party mood, Ashley is seemingly in no mood to celebrate. On hearing that Bernice is working, he slips out of the party to see her. But he is heartbroken by what he discovers. Carlos, meanwhile, is desperate to persuade Bernice to make a new start with him away from the village. Chris is convinced that Zoe is going to ask him to move out of Home Farm. But he is surprised when she informs him that she is going to move out herself. Jess and Maggie's relationship reaches an all-time low, when an argument breaks out after Jess misses a family dinner.

Episode 3046 (Tue 13th Nov 2001)

Bernice is mortified when Nicola tells her that she knows Carlos has left the village and wishes that she had vanished with him. Diane visits Rodney and demands that he has a word with Nicola about her recent behaviour, but their anger quickly turns to passion when they begin to reminisce about their past relationship. One thing leads to another. Paddy tells Marlon that he has decided to ask Mandy for a divorce. Marlon warns him that Emily might misread the signals and expect them to get married. But Paddy is left regretting taking Marlon's advice, when Emily points out that she has no intention of getting married. Zoe is heartbroken when Chris tells her that he wants her to cut all ties with Joseph. With no where to go, Ashley offers to let Zoe stay with him at the vicarage. Edna is furious when she spots Eve talking to Marc. Jess attempts to build bridges with Maggie by cooking her a meal and Cain feels guilty when Zak admits that he misses Sam.

Episode 3047 (Wed 14th Nov 2001)

Zoe is devastated that her relationship with Chris has reached an all-time low and Paddy visits his solicitor to start divorce proceedings. Bernice is amused to discover that Diane and Rodney have spent the night together. Embarrassed by their night of passion, Diane makes Rodney promise to keep their indiscretion a secret. Thinking he was in Ireland, Lisa and Zak become increasingly concerned for Sam's safety when a letter arrives for him from his mum making it clear that he hasn't been near the emerald isle. Zak confronts Cain and demands to know why he lied about Sam's whereabouts. Zak decides to go in search of Sam but, before he leaves, he warns Cain that he will make him pay if anything has happened. The teenagers conquer their fears and return to school. But the experience is too much for Donna, who bolts from the classroom. Cynthia seeks reassurance from Danny that he wasn't involved in the hit and run tragedy.

Episode 3048 (Thu 15th Nov 2001)

Zak drafts in the help of Marlon, Jack and Eric to scour the woods in the hope of finding Sam. Cain starts a hunt of his own in a bid to find him ahead of Zak and stop him revealing the reason for his disappearance. Zak unearths Sam first and is horrified to find out why he fled the family home. But Cain hits back with claims that Sam tried to attack him first and Zak finds himself torn between his two sons. After much convincing from Lisa, Zak tells Cain to get out. Andy isn't faring much better with Katie as he tries to convince her to stand by him. Things are looking up for Paddy, though, when Emily admits that she is starting to feel like his house is becoming her home and time looks like it is running out for the Daggerts when they get an unexpected caller at their squat.

Episode 3049 (Thu 16th Nov 2001)

Just as the future is beginning to look rosy for Paddy and Emily they receive a blast from the past that sends them reeling. As Emily prepares lunch in their lovenest, she is stunned to open the door to Paddy's wife Mandy - complete with suitcase. Mandy is equally shocked to find Emily in the house. Emily becomes increasingly uncomfortable as Mandy explains the reason for her return - to talk about her relationship with Paddy. Paddy is dumbfounded when he returns home to discover Mandy sharing the sofa with Emily and struggles to keep the atmosphere pleasant between the current and former loves in his life. Mandy receives an equally mixed reception from others in the village, including Tricia and Zak. Cynthia becomes increasingly worried about her future in the squat when a letter drops threatening action against her family. Lisa finds Cain and tells him to start appreciating all that Zak has done for him.

Episode 3050 (Mon 19th Nov 2001)

Poor Emily is beside herself with worry when Paddy meets Mandy to sort out the future. It's enough that the estranged couple are meeting at the vets surgery, where Emily is made to feel like a spare part. But when she later walks into The Woolpack and finds them continuing their conversation - she suspects Mandy has designs on rekindling her relationship with Paddy. Away from Emily's ears, Mandy confesses she still loves Paddy and wants to get back together. Scott is upset when Chloe tells him living together might spoil their relationship. Maggie impresses Rodney by suggesting they open the holiday village for Xmas and newly appointed bar manager Nicola lets her heart rule her head when she asks Craig to work behind the bar.

Episode 3051 (Tue 20th Nov 2001)

Mandy deliberately spoils Emily's evening when she reveals that contrary to what Paddy had said about needing to work, she has in fact been with him to see a marriage guidance counsellor. Poor Eric soon comes up against his old foe next who, not for the first time, punches him, following a row. Louise and Tricia compete with one another to flirt with customers in the pub for tips. Maggie is annoyed that Nicola employed Craig without telling her and exacts revenge immediately by signing up Chloe to work behind the bar with the blessing of Rodney.

Episode 3052 (Wed 21st Nov 2001)

Mandy manages to drive a wedge between Paddy and Emily, then skilfully moves in for the kill. Emily decides to visit Paddy to try and make things up after a row about the previous evening. But she is crestfallen as she arrives to see Paddy and Mandy kissing, through the window. Nicola and Chloe clash as she starts her new job. Chris is stunned to learn that Charity has invited a society magazine to cover the wedding and Rodney feels the strain caused by the age difference with Louise.

Episode 3053 (Thu 22nd Nov 2001)

Mandy gloats to Lisa and then cruelly visits Emily to tell her that she and Paddy are an item following their night of passion. But Paddy has the final laugh on Mandy - even though it proves painful. He decides it's Emily he really wants and when she refuses to listen, he carries her from the house and to The Woolpack. As Paddy reveals his shocking decision to Mandy, she sees red and knocks him over with a punch. Craig upsets Nicola when he lies that he's got plans for lunch then goes out with Chloe. Chris becomes more concerned about the wedding when Charity reveals she'd like to arrive in a pink Cadillac and eat burgers and chips for breakfast. Jess makes an effort to get on with Lucy. Terry rehearses his best man's speech, even though he's not been asked. Marlon is put out at Tricia's flirty ways to try and get more tips from customers.

Episode 3054 (Fri 23rd Nov 2001)

Nicola has the knives out for Chloe, convinced she's trying to seduce Craig. She even warns Scott about his girlfriend in an attempt to stir things up and when Chloe confronts her she tells her aggressively that it's pointless going to her dad, because he will always believe his daughter. Terry is mightily let down when Chris announces that Rodney will be his best man. Phil and Maggie clash over the way their daughters are dressed. Paddy reassures Emily about their relationship. Zak's efforts to resolve his differences with Cain fail.

Episode 3055 (Mon 26th Nov 2001)

Chris and Charity's wedding plans are forging ahead, but with the feud between the Tates and Dingles bubbling under the surface, it is going to be anything but a happy family occasion. Charity is shaken when Cain confronts her and threatens to destroy her big day. She visits the Dingles and tries to defuse the situation by inviting them to her wedding. Seth spots Chris at his father's grave and suggests that he should try and patch things up with Zoe. He approaches Zoe and tries to persuade her to attend his wedding. Terry is taken aback when Chris asks him if he thinks he is making a mistake marrying Charity. Meanwhile, Charity expresses some doubts of her own to Chloe. Mandy's hopes of getting back together with Paddy are in tatters and with no other reason to stay in the village, she decides to return to Southampton. After his recent infidelity,

Chris and Charity's wedding day is finally upon them, but while Chris nervously awaits the arrival of his bride to be, there are certain people who are avoiding the occasion like the plague. Zak and Zoe share their concerns over the wedding. Aware that the gulf between Charity and the Dingles is growing, Lisa reminds Zak of his recent cancer scare, and tells him that life is too short to waste on feuding. With her words of wisdom ringing in his ears, Zak eventually relents and agrees to attend. Charity fears the worst when the Dingles arrive at the reception and Zak demands to speak to Chris alone. But is he there to start trouble or call an end to their feud? Zoe follows Zak's lead and decides to attend the reception, but drunkenly announces what she thinks of their marriage. Despite the happy occasion, Charity has a few choice words for Chris that leave him feeling hurt.

Episode 3057 (Wed 28th Nov 2001)

Andrew is surprised to discover that Kathy has cut short her holiday. But he is in for an even bigger shock when Alice walks in to the room. Kathy confesses that she was concerned for her niece's safety and has brought her back without Elsa's knowledge. Chloe is upset when Nicola gives her a written warning, after she turns up late for work. Maggie is furious to hear what has happened and warns Nicola not to issue any warnings without her permission. Zoe apologises to Chris for her drunken behaviour at his wedding reception. But will he be able to forgive her after all that has happened? Lisa prepares a surprise meal for Zak to celebrate the end of the feud between the Dingles and the Tates. But Zak is in no mood for celebrations as he is upset that his relationship with Cain is at an all-time low. Jack is concerned by Andy and Robert's behaviour when they receive a visit from the Youth Offending Officer and Emily turns down Paddy's offer to move in with him.

Episode 3058 (Thu 29th Nov 2001)

In the cold light of day, Kathy begins to realise the serious consequences of bringing her niece back to Britain without her mother's permission. Kathy seeks advice from a solicitor. She admits that she suspected that Alice was being mistreated, but her hopes are dealt a massive blow when the solicitor tells her that without proof of abuse, Kathy could face charges of child abduction. The situation becomes even more volatile when Alan tells Kathy that he has received a telephone call from Elsa and she will be arriving in the village tomorrow. Angie is consumed by guilt when Marc tells the Youth Offending Officer that his parents marriage break up has deeply affected him. Len reassures Angie that she isn't a bad parent, but his words are unable to soothe her pain. Jack is left frustrated when he is unable to get a verbal decision from the Mobile phone representative, as to whether they are going to put a mast on his farm.

Episode 3059 (Fri 30th Nov 2001)

There is trouble brewing when Elsa arrives in the village with one intention - to get her daughter Alice back. Alice is excited to see her mother, but Kathy is irritated by her sudden arrival. Elsa demands to know why she took her daughter without her permission, but is stunned when Kathy says Alice was mistreated. Kathy isn't about to give Alice up without a fight, though, and disappears with her again. Jack's financial problems seem to be a distant memory when he receives a phone call from the mobile phone company, confirming that they would like to put a mast on his farm. But, Edna is not best pleased to hear the news. Angie is furious to discover that Sean has organised for Marc and Ollie to see a solicitor and Tara will be paying the bill. Ashley offers to let Cynthia and her family move in to the vicarage after they have been evicted from their home. And Sam manages to persuade Cain to move back home.

Episode 3060 (Mon 3rd Dec 2001)

Kathy continues to harbour Alice as those closest to her voice their concern and start to question her actions. Alan tries to assure Elsa that Kathy will return her daughter soon, but she decides it is time to call in the police. At the Reynolds', Marc tries to look to the future and put the death of Miss Strickland behind him, but his solicitor has a word of warning for him that brings him back down to earth with a bump. He advises Sean and Angie that Ollie will probably face a light sentence for her part in the tragedy - but Marc could well be facing a stiff stint inside. With eviction from the squat on the horizon, a desperate Cynthia is forced to consider accepting Ashley's offer of help when she learns that the housing office hasn't found a new home for her family. Edna becomes increasingly irate at Jack's insistence to push ahead with plans for the phone mast and takes her petition door-to-door.

Episode 3061 (Tue 4th Dec 2001)

The thought of facing a future in prison proves too much for Marc and he decides he has only one option - to run away. Ollie and Andy learn of his plans but nothing they say can change Marc's drastic escape plan. He heads for Sean's haulage yard in the hope of stowing away in the back of a truck destined for the continent. But as the wagon leaves the yard, Sean charges after it and brings it to a halt. Has he rumbled his son? Much to the disgust of Cynthia, Danny agrees to deliver a package for Ray. Cynthia confides in Ashley that she doesn't trust Emmerdale's new Mr Big and she is shocked when she sneaks a peak inside the parcel. Alan overhears the Sugden children talking in the shop and realises that Kathy is hiding at the farm with Alice. As Kathy and Alice visit Nick in prison, Alan feels it is his duty to let Elsa know where she can find her daughter.

Episode 3062 (Wed 5th Dec 2001)

Viv is busy trying to drum up support against the phone mast but Bernice and Tricia have differing opinions on the subject. Angie is frantic when she discovers that Marc has vanished and Sean realises that he must have escaped on one of his trucks when he visited the haulage yard. They are reunited in their hunt for him and frantically try to catch up with the wagon. Angie tries to phone the driver but their frustration is heightened when the call goes unanswered. The pair finally catch up with the truck before it reaches the continent - but will Marc still be on-board? Elsa confronts Kathy at the farm but isn't prepared for what comes next. Alice tells her mother that she hates her and doesn't want to be with her. Elsa is forced to retreat and returns to the B&B without her daughter. Armed with the evidence from the suspicious package, Cynthia confronts Ray and demands to know what her son,

Episode 3063 (Thu 6th Dec 2001)

Marc realises that it was Ollie who revealed he had run-away, but he is forgiving and understanding as he arrives at court with the other teenagers for their hearing. He is told that his case is being referred to the Crown Court and his agony is prolonged. But things go from bad to worse for him when Eve tries to save her own skin by laying the blame firmly at the door of Marc. The court is stunned by Eve's account of the night's events as the youngsters are told of their fate. Jack is on hand to support Robert and Andy but is distracted by a call telling him that there is a problem with the phone mast and it must now go to a public meeting due to complaints from villagers. Elsa confesses to Alan that she feels as though she has let Alice down and fears for the future.

Episode 3064 (Fri 7th Dec 2001)

Despite drumming up support for the phone-mast, Jack is under pressure as he faces the public meeting in the village and discovers that many of the locals have turned on him. Edna is cutting about Jack's motives and he is rightly concerned when the phone-mast representative becomes evasive, as to whether the mast will ever find a home on the farm. Jack tries to reason with Edna for the sake of the children, but is outraged when she uses his children as a reason why nobody should sympathise with him. The backlash of Eve's testimony is evident as the teenagers fail to hide their anger at her. She tries to explain that she didn't mean to pin the blame on Marc but Ollie is in no mood for listening. Kathy confides in Andrew that she thinks she has won Elsa round and is predicting a rosy future for the two of them together.

Episode 3065 (Mon 10th Dec 2001)

Kathy and Elsa find themselves at odds over the future of Alice, after Elsa takes her daughter on a Christmas shopping spree. On her return, Elsa reveals to an outraged Kathy that she intends taking Alice back to Australia with her. Andrew touches a raw nerve by telling Kathy that she is jealous of Elsa, but Kathy digs her heels in and she tells Elsa in no uncertain terms that she isn't going to give Alice up without a fight. As Jack rues losing his temper with Edna, the village finds itself divided into two camps over the future of his proposed phone mast. Diane is in one corner supporting Jack, while an enraged Viv is busy drumming up opposition. Latisha finds herself in the crossfire when she is forced to back both sides. Cynthia's worries mount and she is forced to tell her children that they will be facing a bleak Christmas and Paddy regrets offering to teach Emily how to drive after their first lesson with her at the wheel.

Episode 3066 (Tue 11th Dec 2001)

Kathy realises that she will never win the battle for Alice with Elsa and wonders if it is time to change tack. She admits to Andrew that she is going to miss Alice and wonders if it wouldn't be best for all concerned if she moved to Australia to be closer to her. But Kathy isn't prepared for Andrew's response when he opens up to her and reveals how he truly feels. Cynthia's money troubles are exaggerated when she and Danny argue over a shopping catalogue. She becomes suspicious when Danny later appears with £20 that he got from Ray. Viv's battle against Jack's proposed phone mast gets personal and she bans Bob from visiting The Woolpack because Diane is backing Jack. Things are looking up for Jack, though, when he receives a visit from a builder who wants to locate the best site for the mast. Maggie and Phil are pushing on with plans for the Christmas Grotto at the Holiday Village

Episode 3067 (Wed 12th Dec 2001)

Kathy makes a decision on her future - one that will change her life forever. After a heart to heart with Bernice, Kathy decides that she must put her love of Alice before Andrew and follow her to Australia - to live. Kathy bids farewell to Elsa and Alice, knowing that she will see her soon, but Andrew overhears and is devastated when he realises that she is going to follow them. Realising his family is cash-strapped, Danny asks Ray for a job but is disappointed to find nothing is available. Cain has his own ideas, though, and steps in to offer him work. Nicola tries to impress Rodney with her own plans for Christmas at the Holiday Village. But her idea of having Chloe and Craig dress up as elves and giving away free drinks could cause problems.

Episode 3068 (Thu 13th Dec 2001)

Diane goes on the warpath when Nicola coolly walks in to The Woolpack and hands out fliers advertising free drinks at the Holiday Park's bar. Dumbfounded by Nicola's cheek, Diane unceremoniously throws her out of the pub. Meanwhile, Craig and Chloe are less than enthusiastic about having to dress up as elves for Santa's Grotto, however, the same cannot be said for Seth, who basks in his role as Santa Claus. The event initially seems like a great success, but the bar's stock of alcohol is put under severe pressure when the Dingles arrive with the intention of drinking the place dry. The Daggert's financial problems deepen when they receive a demand from the gas company. Danny decides to help raise some money and offers to deliver a package for Cain.

The Christmas extravaganza is under way at the holiday village - but it isn't long before things start going disastrously wrong. Zak agrees to supply Santa Seth with beer before Betty rumbles Seth and drags him out by his ear and Maggie is furious to discover that Nicola has duped her into giving away an endless amount of free drinks that locals are making the most of. Rodney is forced to step in and have a heated heart to heart with Maggie about Nicola. Nicola wraps her dad round her little finger, but Maggie is glad to find an ally in Chloe.

Episode 3070 (Mon 17th Dec 2001)

Nicola is pleased when her father invites her to dinner, but her hopes of an enjoyable evening are dashed when she discovers that Bernice has also been invited. Tensions grow during the meal and it is clear that Nicola has no intention of forgiving Bernice for having an affair with Carlos. After Bernice leaves, Nicola turns on Rodney for tricking her into seeing her sister. Emily is concerned to hear what has happened and suggests that Nicola should go and speak to her father. But Nicola is in for a shock when she returns to the bed and breakfast, and finds Rodney hugging Diane.

Episode 3071 (Tue 18th Dec 2001)

Diane fears the worst when she wakes up in bed with Rodney. She is pleased when he admits that nothing happened. But her relief is short lived, when Louise walks into the room and immediately jumps to the wrong conclusion. Bernice doesn't help matters when she lets slip to Louise that it is the second time in recent history that her parents have spent the night together. Rodney visits Louise and tries to explain what really happened. But she refuses to listen and tells him that their relationship is over. Jack is mortified when he overhears Nicola talking about Rodney and Diane's liaison. Jess is frustrated that Phil will not let her go and see her mum for Christmas. Maggie decides to have a word with him, but will she be able to change his mind?

Episode 3072 (Wed 19th Dec 2001)

Diane is mortified that an innocent situation could be blown totally out of proportion. She tries to explain to Jack what really happened between her and Rodney. But he tells her that he is not interested in her excuses and calls an end to their relationship. Diane sees red when Rodney walks in to The Woolpack. She accuses him of ruining her life, before sending him to the floor with a punch. Edna goes on the warpath when she discovers that someone has stolen baby Jesus from the church's nativity scene. Tricia is thrilled when she wins a private performance from a popstar in a radio competition. She later curses her big mouth, when she lets slip to Kathy that the village is planning a surprise leaving party for her. Edna and Viv are delighted when Eric tells them that their anti-phone mast campaign has been successful.

Episode 3073 (Thu 20th Dec 2001)

The time has finally come for Kathy to bid farewell to her friends in Emmerdale and head for Australia. Fully aware that locals have arranged a leaving-bash in The Woolpack, Kathy feigns her surprise to spare their feelings. But she and everyone else gathered are genuinely shocked when singer Marti Pellow - Tricia's radio prize - emerges and serenades Kathy. Louise can't resist the chance to flirt with him and puts Tricia's nose out of joint by inviting him into the pub's back room. Fresh from their honeymoon, newlyweds Chris and Charity are quickly brought back down to earth when they return to the village. They are furious to discover that a bitter Zoe has changed the locks on Home Farm and put the place up for sale without consulting them.

Episode 3074 (Fri 21st Dec 2001)

With Christmas just days away, Bernice is becoming increasingly worried about Ashley and how he is coping. She resolves to make an effort to improve things between the two of them and decides to visit him at the vicarage. They reminisce about old times and before they know it they are in each other's arms. But Zoe interrupts their brief reunion and Ashley is left disappointed when Bernice leaves. Jack is disappointed to hear that the phone company has pulled its plans to erect a mast on his farmland and tells his lads that he has no choice but to sell the farm. Andy marches round to the Post Office and gives Viv a piece of his mind for destroying any hope that his father had of a brighter future.

Episode 3075 (Mon 24th Dec 2001)

It may be Christmas Eve but Ashley is having a crisis of faith. He confides in Zoe that he isn't sure why he kissed Bernice the previous evening and isn't convinced it is a good idea to pursue her. He dreads the approaching carol service and struggles to find the enthusiasm to conduct it. Things are made worse when Bernice arrives and Ashley knows he must confront his demons head-on. His head rules his heart and he tells Bernice that he wants nothing more to do with her. Bernice wishes that she and Ashley could sort out their differences and they both go into Christmas Day with a heavy heart. Chris and Charity have less important worries on their minds - where to find a housekeeper. Terry tries his luck at cooking dinner for them but the results are from far impressive.

Episode 3076 (Tue 25th Dec 2001)

Christmas Day hasn't brought much joy for Ashley and he prepares his solitary lunch at the vicarage, but an unexpected Christmas present is on the way for Bernice. She walks without purpose through the village but ends up at church where she discovers Ashley. They try again to resolve their differences, but it proves fruitless. But just as Ashley has given up and turns to leave, Bernice doubles up in pain - the baby is on its way! Ashley accompanies her to hospital where they meet Diane. He is hurt, though, when he discovers that Bernice has asked Diane to call Carlos. The Spanish chef receives a frosty reception when he arrives, not least from a rowing Rodney and Diane and a drunken Nicola who takes a swing at him in the waiting area. Bernice battles on in labour, oblivious to the trouble that is stirring outside.

Episode 3077 (Wed 26th Dec 2001)

As Bernice proudly cradles her new baby, the two fathers-in-waiting are confused about the previous day's events. Carlos shares his thoughts with Terry and wonders why Bernice summoned him to the hospital for the birth. He is convinced that he must be the father and visits Bernice in hospital to ask her to make a fresh start with him away from the pub. Ashley, meanwhile, is less sure whether he may be the father but does wonder why Bernice seemed keen to sort out their differences. Zoe lends support and reminds him that he could well be the dad. Diane warns Bernice not to leave Ashley in the cold, then persuades Carlos to take a blood test to settle the question of fatherhood once and for all. Charity convinces Chris to take on Cynthia as housekeeper, but he is surprised when she starts so soon and cooks them a special Boxing Day breakfast.

Episode 3078/3079 (Fri 28th Dec 2001)

It is the day of reckoning for Ashley and Carlos as they wait to discover the results of the blood test. Bernice has got other problems on her mind, though, and admits to Diane that she is having trouble adjusting to motherhood. Diane advises her to sort out her own feelings before she discovers who the child's father is. Ashley has a heart to heart with Zoe and says that he doesn't know if he can find forgiveness in his heart for Bernice and Carlos and questions his faith and ability in his role as vicar. Carlos arrives at hospital with the results of the blood test and asks Bernice to move in with him but she has some hard-hitting news of her own

Episode 3080 (Mon 31st Dec 2001)

Ashley escorts Bernice and baby back to The Woolpack where Rodney has the champagne on ice to celebrate the homecoming of his daughter and grandchild. The celebration is muted, however, when Bernice quickly discovers that a pub isn't the perfect environment for a baby. She has problems putting the baby down for bed because of the noise. Ashley insists that they should both spend the night at the vicarage - for the baby's sake. Bernice takes the opportunity to try and talk things through with Ashley but he insists that she should concentrate on the baby instead. Marc's court case is just days away and friends and family are trying to do their best by him.
