After the unexpected break-up of his "owners" Dan and Dana, neurotic housecat Kevin moves into a local pet rescue in Queens where he meets other "independent" cats who can help him figure out what he wants out of life.

After being named "Animal of the Month," Kevin struggles to fill out his "adoption profile" on the Furrever Friends website. In order to figure out what type of person he's looking for, Kevin decides to hit the streets with Cupcake to see her New York.
