The Short Fuses wiped out everyone at that party, and began to see the consequences reverberating throughout the city.

During the Festival of Trial, the Pavio Curto found a notebook that mentioned a man named Cain had moved to a swamp near Sacramento’s “headquarters.” They decided to check it out, and their expectations were shattered when they encountered several unusual things in that swamp.

The camp was taken by surprise by the arrival of a boy. Suspicious, the Short Fuses were right to be wary of a boy approaching in the middle of the night. From the horizon, they were taken by surprise by Bishop Leviana and her men. They managed to escape, but only just. Zoi de Gato suggests they head to the city of Bom Fim, which is relatively far away, but where they have scores to settle.

Meanwhile, throughout all this time, the enemies of Pavio Curto had one thing in common: the sacred garments. Ceiça said that the men weren’t wearing them. One of them even sent a message to Horácio, telling him to meet him at his house. Horácio knows he’ll have to return to his town to find out who the man is and what he wants there.
