Annie's death was treated as suspicious, but not enough evidence was found to build a case that has led to justice. Annie’s loved ones responded when an Ottawa Police officer made racist social media comments connected to Annie’s story.

In September 2014, William Wapoose was found dead in Chapples Park, on the south end of Chapples Drive, discovered by a cyclist. Police immediately confirmed that the father of two daughters' death was a homicide and that he was the victim of foul play. In June of 2019, two men were arrested in William’s death, but the trials are pending, and justice has yet to be served.

Dianne Rattlesnake

Wilma Ann Hanska pled guilty to manslaughter after taking the life of her husband with whom she had an abusive relationship and spent four years in prison. She started a new life in Brandon and went by the name Diana Rattlesnake following her release but continued to live through abusive relationships. On October 28, 2004, at the age of 48, Diana was found deceased in a Brandon, Manitoba rooming house.
