Sad and somber, Ma Ri finishes up her painting. After watching an interview with plastic surgeon Seo Jung Won, in which he promises his work helps people find their lives back, she decides to visit him for a consultation. She fools her bodyguards and finds a way to the clinic. When she consults with Dr. Seo, Ma Ri asks him to transform her face completely.

At breakfast, In Wook's father, Kang Il Gook, shouts at Ma Ri demanding to know when she will bear him a grandchild. But when she's given herbal medicine to promote fertility, she pours it down the drain and shouts at In Wook that she doesn't want a child. Later, she escapes her bodyguards to meet with her friend who's going to fill her in about her painting winning a prize at the art exhibition.

In Wook asks Ma Ri to have dinner together, the one they were supposed to have the day before, but she can't bear the thought of it and runs away from the house. She makes her way to Jung Won's house. When he sees her soaking wet and hunched, he takes her inside. She tells him about her misery and the reason behind wanting the radical surgery and implores that he perform it. Meanwhile, In Wook hears of her disappearance and tracks her down.
