CHAN MUNG TAK is jealous of a smart-looking new student, TO WAN FUNG, who enrolls in the college. When each time trying to make fun of FUNG, the victim, however, turns out to be KWUN VAT. The result is out and CHAN MUNG TAK find that KWUN YAT gets awarded because of his paper. CHAN explains the whole thing to the people but no one believes a word he say. On the other hand, knowing that it is not his performance that counts, KWUN feels regretful for CHAN.‧ TO YEE MUI visits YUET NGOR and reveals her identity to her . Seeing her dream turns to nothing, NGOR feels very disappointed. ‧ Seeing that KWUN has established himself, CHIEF CHAN proposes to TO the marriage between KWUN and MUI. Fearing to be discovered as the bandits' daughter, MUI asks MADAM TO to disguise as the rich when visiting the CHAN family. TAI WU CHI is left behind to guard NGOR. In a trick, CHAN reveals MADAM TO's identity to CHIEF CHAN~ At the same time, NGOR makes her escape and accuses MADAM TO of kidnapping her. CHIEF CHAN reports to the court and MADAM TO and the bandits are arrested.

CHAN MUNG TAK helps TO YEE MUI slip away and lets her hide at his house. MUI is moved by CHAN who looks after her in great concern. TAI WU CHI sneaks into the prison to save MUI but the guards outnumber him. FEI comes to his rescue and helps him make his escape. Afterwards, FEI cuts his arm, claiming that MADAM TO has made her escape, while he secretly sends for CHI to pick up the bandits. Learning that KWUN is leaving, MUI tests his love for her. On the way to the capital, CHAN MUNG TAK and TO YEE MUI come across a kid who is nearly knocked down by a cart. They save him but in doing so, they embarrass KAM LING FUNG who is travelling in the cart and the three have a dispute. CHAN and MUI locate CHEUNG BlU's house but .it has already be-en taken over by his man, HUNG TAI NGOK . BIU's loyal man, TIT SAM KUR shows CHAN and MUI the way to meet ~IU who is seriously injured. The fact is that NGOK had plotted against BIU and finally took his place. KUR has been looking after BIU , hoping one day to fight back. To earn a living, MUI goes seek a job and comes across BIU being captured by NGOK and forced to perform tricks to please the foreign trader, SMITH. MUI gives BIU a hand but is captured by NGOK instead. CHAN comes to her rescue and both slip away. CHAN promises to help BIU regain his influence. To teach NGOK a lesson, CHAN tricks him into falling into the falling into the farces .… ...

However, he is sneered and rejected by LING FUNG. NGOK makes approaches to MUI but is discovered and stopped by LAU WAH TUNG. NGOK is forced to give up. CHAN kidnaps SMITH and puts the blame on NGOK, hoping to force him yield MUI. A foreign trader, STEWART, thinks that NGOK has kidnapped SMITH and so forces him to yield his shops. Not knowing that he is tricked, NGOK meets his demand.

Not wanting to offend ether party, the magistrate sends for his advisor, FONG TONG KAN, to handle the case. Thinking that LAU is an upright man, she takes risk to save him. TO YEE MUI feels jealous when learning that KAM LING FUNG is supposed to be CHAN MUNG TAK.'s fiancee. CHAN explait1s that the engagement has been cancelled. KWUN YAT take up the post of magistrate. To please him, SMITH holds s a feast and plays magic tricks with KAM UNG FUNG to entertain him. SMITH slips in performance and UNG is nearly trapped in the box. However, KWUN is attracted to LING. LING’s mother persuades her daughter to get on KWUN. When accompanying KWUN to the tailor, LING comes across CHAN MUNG TAK with TO YEE MUI .Seeing that each has a new partner, the two pairs fall in jealousy and dilemma. FONG TONG KAN loses his job and puts the blame on CHAN, thereafter waits for the chance to take revenge on him. KWUN finds rascals threatening the shopkeepers, thus passes order to suppress them. The rascals then loiter outside the shops, annoying the people. KWUN seeks help from CHEUNG BIU, only to be sneered by him. Knowing his own limits, KWUN resorts to hire CHAN to handle matters of urgency for him. CHAN becomes more renowned for his wit.

CHAN MUNG TAK's parents go visit their so~ and are delighted b o fit1d that he is in a senior, post. However, they are worried that CHAN would go into evil ways since he gets along with the bandits. The Chan couple visits the KAM family and finds that KAM LING FUNG has not refined her tempers. In contrast, though TO YEE MUI comes from a bandit family, she is virtuous and understanding. The Chan couple thus tries to make a match between CHAN and MUI. Seeing that CHAN has taken his place, FONG TON6 KAN grows more hostile towards him. LING rejects courting from SM1TH who then feels frustrated. To pleas SMITH, FONG promises to take revenge for him, thinking that in so doing he can take the chance to frame CHAN. FONG takes UNG to SMITH's house to try the new bubble ?bath and draws CHAN to the scene. MUI comes along, creating much disturbance. Knowing that CHAN catches a glimpse of LING. in her bath, KWUN turns indifferent to her.

Realizing that KWUN VAT would not accept her and that CHAN MUNG TAK has seen her body, KAM UNG FUNG tries to please CHAN, hoping to win his affection.‧ YUE LUNG asks CHAN to marry LING now that she has becomes more gentle and docile, MADAM TQ objects and the two families dispute over the matter. To pacify them, CHAN lies to them that he has asked a fortune and that he cannot get married that year. Learning that a ship transporting opium suffers shipwreck during its course and that Kwantung would be lacking opium paste, CHAN asks CHEUNG B!U to purchase all the stock. SMITH's business is seriously affected.‧ To take revenge on FONG TONG KAN, CHAN asks LAU WAH TUNG to spread false news that he refines opium paste himself. FONG thus purchases for himself a great deal of useless material.

SMITH finds it hard to explain the great loss to his seniors and so orders FONG TONG KAN to get back the large quantity of opium paste. FONG deals with him casually, deciding to run away. ‧ Foreseeing FONG's plan, SMITH sends men to stop him on his way and beat him up. LAU WAH TUNG says him and takes him to CHEUNG BIU. CHAN sympathizer’s with FONG and decides to compromise with him, but the stubborn FONG rejects him. To take revenge for FONG, CHAN gets SMITH's land by trickery. Convinced of his skills, FONG compromises with CHAN and the two become best friends. KAM LING FUNG and TO YEE MUI compete for CHAN's love and force him to choose between them. CHAN reveals to LAU and FONG that he turns witty after initiated by CHUK CHEN TZE. Surprised and curious, the -two secretly follow CHAN to CHUK's house, only to be rebuked by him.

Sent by the king, Inspector YUNG MAN.CHEUNG goes to Canton to arrest convict .PA TAP LUN who has disappeared for more than 20 years. MAN seeks help from KWUN YAT. FONG TONG KAN recognizes from the picture that CHUK CHEN TZE is in fact PA LAP LUN and so shows MAN the way to arrest him, only to find him disappeared. CHUK becomes the wanted convict. CHAN MUNG TAK finds CHWC who foresees that he cannot make his escape. CHUK reveals to CHAN that years ago he had conflicts with the court. CHAN promises to help him make his escape and asks him to hide in the mountains for the time being. CHAN lies to MADAM TO that CHUK has been stealing to help the poor. The bandits are impressed and thus help CHUK to hide himself at the whole house. HUNG TAI NGOK perchance discovers CHUK. MAN quickly sends TAO YUR FEI to go arrest him. FEI purposely makes delay while CHAN helps CHUK to slip away.

Not wanting to involve CHAN, CHUK CHEN TZE surrenders himself to the court. YUNG MAN CHEUNG puts CHUK into prison and sends KWUN YAT to arrest CHAN and his gang. Anxious to save his teacher, CHAN works with TAO YUR FEI, sneaking into the prison. Guilt-conscious, CHUK refuses to escape, much to CHAN’s disappointment. Neglecting her parent’s objection, KAM LING FUNG secretly brings food to CHAN but is discovered by HUNG TAI NGOK who then reports to the court. FONG TONG KAN diverts MAN’s attention and CHAN makes his escape. LING and TOYEE MUI try to test CHAN'5 love for them but he is preoccupied with saving his teacher, giving ‧ no attention to the two. Thinking that CHAN i~ not serious in love, LING and MUI sympathize each other and becomes friends. ' MAN asks FEI to fetch a secret letter to the- capital, reporting the elimination of the bandits. She is discovered by NGOR who thinks that MAN has an affair with her . NGOR rebukes MAN of seducing KWUN’s love, much to puzzle him. MUI returns with the seal and from the wrapping cloth, MADAM TO discovers that MAN is her son. That year, MADAM TO got married with TO PAU and led a happy life. Later, she was kidnapped by the influential YUNG SAI FAN who forced her to be his wife. Rid of his family, TO PAU became a bandit. Bearing TO PAU's child, MADAM TO suffered the disgrace and made FAN think that MAN CHEUNG was his son. Later, MADAM TO was kidnapped by the bandits and reunited with TO PAU who was in fact the leader.… ...

TO YEE MUI returns the seal to the court and is caught. YUNG MAN CHEUNG interrogates her about CHAN MUNG TAK's whereabouts but MUI refuses to say a word. Annoyed, CHAN declares that he would become a monk, much to astonish the two. Returning from the capital and seeing that the dispute is settled, TAO YUR FEI all his time to court MADAM TO. Touched by his sincerity, MADAM TO accepts his love. YUNG MAN CHEUNG is enlightened by CHUK CHEN TZE and so he resigns his post and leads a peaceful life as an ordinary man.
