Bird lives happily in a perfect tree in a quiet park with a view of the ocean. One day, she is woken by strange sounds—Boom! Bonk!—and feels something hit her, but she can’t see what it is. After several interruptions, she finally spots acorns falling and discovers a chipmunk named Kip, who apologizes. Kip explains that he is moving into a hole in the tree and announces that he is Bird’s new neighbor. Bird accepts this warmly.

Bird's New Neighbor
Bird is unhappy with her new neighbor Kip, who is noisy and keeps dropping acorns. To get some peace, Bird goes to the beach, where she enjoys the sand, water, and a snack. Suddenly, she spots a large hawk in the sky and hides in fear. After the hawk leaves, Bird flies home and tells Kip about the hawk. Kip is also scared and asks if it will come to their tree. Bird reassures him that the tree is a safe place and the hawk probably won’t come.
